“Because I’m afraid you’ll be gone when I wake up,” I said quietly.

She smiled and kissed my shoulder and let her finger trail in circles on my chest.

“I won’t leave, Aaron. Not unless you tell me to.”

She yawned and rolled over to her back, but her arm was still wrapped around my waist, and I was hugging hers.

“I need to go back to New York to work. But I won’t leave.”
