Lance sprang up, closed the distance between and Kedade and swept her off the floor, swaying her in the air as he gazed into her weary eyes.
“Kedade!” Lance chirped. “You are alive.”
“Yes, brother. I thought I’d never see you again.” Kedade said as he placed her back on the floor.
“You don’t know how much I missed you.” Lance said, looking at Kedade with love. Kedade hugged her brother and wept solemnly.
“Brother!” She snuffled.
“They told me you were dead. Do you remember what happened to you back then?” Lance said.
“I don’t what happened brother. I just found myself at the brothel.” Kedade remarked.
“I have to go back to the general hospital for inquiry. They must explain to me how this happened.” Lance said and turned to Evans, embracing him heartily.
“You are the best, Evans.”
“Only doing my job, boss.” Evans was smiling triumphantly.
“You work for NBCI, Evans. I though O’Neil was your friend.”
During breakfast, everyone ate quietly as the awkwardness between Kedade, John and Saga increased. Lance noticed this and tried to lighten up everyone’s moods. “Kedade, Saga. You two will be placed under witness protection. Some police officers will come here as soon as we leave. They will be your bodyguards until the operation is over.” he said. “Yes, brother.” Kedade said and chortled. “Thank you, Agent Lance.” Saga chipped in. “Lance is fine.” Lance said and patted Saga’s back. “Be rest assured that we will catch the people that subjected you to this pain, Kedade.” John added. Saga glared hard making Lance chortle. “In the meantime, John and I will start the preparation for an attack on Dario Pavel and O’Neil Williams.” Lance indicated. “I am glad to be home.” Kedade said and squeezed her brother’s hand affectionately. After breakfast, Kedade followed John to the terrace. She had to talk to him whether she
Chapter thirty-Seven The coming week was hectic one. Possible attacks had to be discussed, plans had to be drawn, scrutinized and reviewed till everyone was satisfied. IPS also sent its own squad to help Lance and John during the operation. This was how Lance made two more friends, Jodi and Henna. Henna was tall, slender and pretty, often reminding him of Gabriella while Jodi was more like John, always out to help him whenever he needed help. That night, Lance and John left home and went to the headquarters to prepare for an operation. After dressing up in full combat attires, Lance and his squad members ambushed the route which O’Neil and Pavel were to use to transport the girls and women they had kidnapped from their home. It was cold and dark but Lance did not seem to mind. His priority was catching Dario Pavel at all cost. Meanwhile, John and his squad stationed themselves at the junction where the police check point always resided while Jodi, Henna and their u
Lance slumped on his bed and relaxed his body. The past few days had been tiring for him such that it was only fair that he rested for a while before he went back to work. There was need to rush the process, O’Neil Williams and some of his colleagues were not going to run away anyway. Lance grabbed a photo f Gabriella from the bedside table and stared at it. Suddenly, Henna’s word rushed into his head prompting Lance to give his sister a call.“Daniel!” Kedade chirped. “I heard that you guys did well during your operation.”“Yes, we did well.”“I also heard that you got hurt.”“Just a little. A bullet grazed me but that is all.” Lance replied feeling exulted.“Be careful out there Lance.” Kedade’s voice sounded grave.“I am alright, Kedade.” Lance assured her. “I am doing this to make sure that you can come back home, Kedade. I want yo
Chapter Thirty-NineSunny woke up, took a bath and dressed up quickly. A servant had come to inform her that Lorenzo needed to see her immediately. She assumed that the urgent call was about Dario’s failure to complete his operation with O’Neil. Slowly walking into Lorenzo’s cambers, Sunny greeted her supposed father-in-law. He nodded and gestured her to a nearby seat. Sunny took a seat and looked at Lorenzo, intently scrutinizing him. He looked worried and weary, a sign that the ambush had taken a toll on him.“You called for me, father.” Sunny started the conversation. It had no being long since she arrived but she was already eager to have the conversation done with and leave because she loathed Lorenzo more than she did his son.“How is Dario?” He asked frantically.“The doctor said he will be fine after taking enough rest.” Sunny said. “He is lucky the bullet only hit his arm
Sunny woke up and saw that Dario was not in bed. She worriedly got out of bed and dashed to the restroom and slipped, losing her balance. Sunny was heading down on the floor when someone abruptly held her back from falling. She looked up at her savior and saw that it was Dario and smiled relievedly."Where were you going?" He asked."I got worried when I didn’t see you on the bed.""It's morning already.""Yes but you still have to rest." Sunny answered him brazenly. "Whatever you need, I will get it for you.""You are so sweet, but you should know that I am not a weak person." Pavel said and left. Sunny followed him into the room."I still insist that you rest." Sunny was relentless."I have to fix the problems we are currently facing Sunny.""What will you do?""I am going to sneak into NBCI and kill O'Neil.""It too dangerous." Sunny protested."I still have to go.""Then take me with you." Sunny said. No sooner had she said t
Chapter Forty-OneSunny frowned and moved back, giving Pavel a bit of space. Pavel flinched, knowing sunny was about to call him out on something he did wrong and he was right“Let’s forget about us for a moment and look at another pressing issue.” she said.“Which is?”“I saw your men bringing in new girls earlier.”“Is that a pressing issue? Such things should be normal to you by now.”“Dario, don’t you have a conscience? Those girls are minors. They are children for Christ’s sake. One of them should be thirteen or fourteen.”“And how do you know that?”“I can tell by looking, Dario.” Sunny sneered.“It’s just business, sunny. We must do whatever we can to survive.”“You want us to have a child together. Imagine if someone did that to our child.”“Sunny!
Sunny woke up to the soft voices coming from the direction of the terrace. She wondered who could be talking in mutters that early morning. Sneaking into the other room, Sunny stooped, hiding behind the bed to eavesdrop.“The auction went well, boss.” She heard Buxton say.“That is good. You should not tell sunny about this no matter what.” Pavel retorted. Sunny peeped ans saw him smirking triumphantly.“But how will we keep such information from her?” Buxton asked. “The thing is she is part of the operations now. We cannot afford to hide things from her.”“Are you telling me you can’t do what I just asked you to do?”“No, boss. I just think-Pavel pushed Buxton to the wall, pressing down his throat aggressively while the latter struggled to breathe.“Where is your loyalty, Buxton? Is it with me or her?”“You…” Buxton struggle
Outside the old Creek garage, Wilson could be seen rushing to his car with two other men. The street light lighted their faces, selling out their worries as they entered the car with frowns. Just like Lance had predicted, tension rose when they received news that James was still alive. Lance and John exchanged looks and nodded to each other. They were right all along. The Chief Agent was on to them and he was using Wilson to do his dirty jobs. In fact, Vivian was also a pawn of his despite having her own personal Vedanta with Lance. As soon as Wilson and his men left, Lance signaled to his squad, motioning them forward with his gloved hand. The squad took his orders and crept to the garage, lying low wherever they could find a hiding place. John also motioned his squad forward but he chose a different direction in order to ensure that the cow horn formation which they had planned to use was effective. Lance and John were the only ones remaining in the same spot as before. This
