M I R A C L E

Lyra's POV

"Doctor, tell me what is wrong with her?"

"There is nothing absolutely wrong with her. Maybe she was just too overwhelmed and passed out."

Distant voices interacted and I found it hard to distinguish them. Squeezing my eyes shut, I clenched my fist.

"She is awake." Another voice said in alert. This time my eyebrows twitched at the familiarity of the voice.

What happened? Why do I find it hard to open my eyes?

"Lyra." The voice called out again as the person shook me. I squeezed my eyes open and locked gaze with a pair of familiar amber colored eyes. My mother. She was looking at me with a worried expression.

"Mom–" My voice came out croaked and harsh and I had to cough out slightly. She hurriedly poured some water into the cup and fed me. I placed my hand on her, trying to calm her down. She was beginning to shake in anxiety.

"Relax." I said finally but then I winced out as the throbbing head ache came back in full hit. I relaxed against the pillow instantly and held my forehead with my palm. What the heck was that?

"What happened?" My mother asked with worry.

"My head aches badly..." I groaned as I rubbed my forehead.

"Doctor, please do check on her." She said and I cast a look up to see the doctor I did not know was there close to me already.

"What part of your head are you feeling the ache from?" She asked.

"Every part. Everywhere." I said and she did some things on the machine close to me.

"It must be from the time you slumped. Don't worry. I will prescribe some drugs for her to use. It will alleviate the pain." She said and my mother nodded her head.

The door creaked open and my elder siblings walked in. I looked up to them. They were twins. Christian and Christine.

Christian looked like my mother but he took my father's ocean blue eyes while Christine took my father's relaxed posture with a touch of some freckles from my granny (from father's side) and Aunt Kareena.

"How are you feeling?" Christian asked and I smiled sadly.

"Not really. She said that she was feeling some head ache." My mother said before I could give a reply. Typical her to make everyone worried.

Christian turned to look at me with concern. "How is it?" He asked as he held my face. I almost melted in his touch but then I remembered what a devil he and his twin sister could be to me.

"I'm fine. Just some pain." I replied and Christine scoffed as she wrapped her arms around herself.

"Did you meet your mate?" I snickered at her, she had told me she wished she met her mate but from the look of things I don't think so.

"Mother, did you see the way she snickered at me? I am her elder sister, tell her to respect me." She said as she stomped her feet childishly on the tiled floor to my mother who already seemed to brace herself up for our rants.

"Christine, she is your sister. You don't have to be like this. Remember that she is not feeling well." My mother said softly, offering her part of the peace talk and self acclaimed "unbiased" opinion.

Christine glared at me and moved to take a seat while Christian sat close to me.

"So when is she leaving?" He asked, making wonder why he was so gentle with me. Maybe I am the one who is starting to overthink this. My brother can be possessive and at the same time he can make jest of me. He is yet to find his mate even though he was twenty five. Well, in fact none of my mother's offspring have found their mates.

"As soon as the doctor brings the prescription." My mother replied and he nodded his head as he rubbed circles on my forehead. Which was quite soothing.

The door squeaked open and the doctor stepped in alongside my father.

"Father." I called out and he walked to me with a soft smile.

"How are you doing, Lynette?" He asked. Lynette is my maiden name. He loves calling me that.

"Fine, father." I replied.

"Okay, this is this prescription. Please make sure to use them all." The doctor said with a polite smile.

My father and brother helped me get down from the bed but then that same wave of emotion hit me hard and I slumped back on the bed.

What the heck?!

"Lyra."

"Lynette!"

They all yelled at as they held me tight. Even Christine.

"Are you okay?" My mother asked and I held unto my father and brother for dear life.

"I..." I rested on Christian's arm. My heart beat accelerated and my pulse hit every nerve in my body. What is happening to me?

"Maybe you should stay in the hospital for today." My father asked but I shook my head in disapproval.

I can't spend one more day, inhaling the nauseous smell of the hospital.

"It is nothing much." I said and stood up gently.

"You–"

"Edna, leave her alone. She said she is fine. Don't be too over worried." My father caught her off. My saving grace. Or maybe her emotions are affecting and he does not like the way she was making him behave. Guess he knew all too well about my mother over worry. Just in case, my father hates getting all worried about something. Even if his mate was dying, he would still be calm. That is just how he is.

We all stepped out of the hospital. "So did you meet your mate?" I asked both of the twins.

"No," Christian answered with a negative shake of his head while Christine clamped her lips shut.

"Christine." I called out.

"Will you just fucking business? What is with you wanting to know?! Leave me and my mating the fuck alone." She sneered at me and walked away. To say that I was the only one who felt the pain from the way she spoke will be a lie. Because my father and his mate froze in shock at the way she bellowed.

Christine is not always as angry as this. We are siblings. We will definitely be at each other's neck, trying to claw out our lungs. But when I need someone to talk to, they both offer their half or completely listening ears. Depends on how serious what I want to say is.

"Is it bad to ask?" I asked my parents, suddenly, feeling bad and... weird. But they shook their heads negatively as they offered a small comforting smile which did nothing to ease the bitterness that was cloaking at the back of my throat.

"Don't mind her. Maybe the way she has not met her mate is worrying her and making her think other wise." My mother explained and I pursed my lips as I looked at the place she passed through.

"Good day, Alpha." My parents greeted, making me tear my gaze away from Christine to the Alpha who was approaching us and I looked up to the pair of forest green looking at us with no focus.

"Elder Matthew," He acknowledged my father and looked at the place they held me.

"Is there an issue?" He asked. The Alpha and I hardly interact like we even we don't speak at all. What do we want to talk about anyway?

I can't remember looking at him the way some pack members do with admiration. I mean I am in the shadow.

"I am fine. Just some minor head ache." I spoke up quick before my mother can say anything that is pitiful. He had his eyes fixed on me. No, we locked eye gaze and suddenly it felt like we were the only one here.

But then someone cleared his throat and the connection cut.

I don't know why but I felt uncomfortable and weird.

"Okay, I will leave you." He said and we shared a glance before he walked away. Did he feel that too?
