I am in my dad’s office reading and secretly listening while he is in a conference call with the Alpha. The Beta is also on the call but is still in West Virginia. He has been visiting with another pack, discussing the upcoming prom. My dad has to be included in on important calls like this one, since he will be running security. Since we have the largest pack territory in Ohio, we use our prom every year to host the annual mating ball as well. This is a great chance for surrounding packs to get together and allow unmated wolves of age to possibly find their mate. The Alpha’s and Beta's use it as a meeting opportunity and an excuse to drink and have cigars. “Oops!” Mom says sarcastically while walking into the office. She is apparently on her phone with Luna Amara. Colin's mom is getting ready with her phone on speaker while my mom is talking to her. She was explaining that it will just be the two of us shopping tomorrow right as Amara was walking past Alpha Lawrence's office.
It’s been a week since my little rendezvous in the woods and my um, bedroom. I have successfully managed to avoid both Colin and Luke this entire time, which was not easy. My mom and the Luna convinced Alpha Lawrence to tell the principal of our school I would be missing an entire week. He said I needed to help my dad with the Monday trainings for the girls. It wasn’t hard to accomplish because with mom and Amara being best friends and no one second guessing the Alpha, the principal gladly agreed. We just had all of my work sent to my parents' house so I wouldn’t get behind. My dad still doesn’t know what’s going on so he has been working on the Monday trainings with me, so technically we weren’t lying to the Alpha. To be honest, the girls are not great fighters. They just don’t care enough, so this is necessary. Luke and the girls sent me a million text messages asking if I was ok. I hated lying to them but I just needed time to figure things out. I know that Luke will be cru
“Why did you really miss school? Was it because of us, or me? I haven’t been able to sleep or do much of anything this entire week and it’s driving me insane, and what are you wearing? Devon wants to seriously rip every wolf apart on the field right now because they are all staring at you.” “I don’t have a boyfriend so let them look” I duck the jab he throws at my face. If it would have landed my nose would be bleeding for sure. I throw an uppercut catching him off guard and it causes him to stumble back slightly. “Ya, but you have a mate, right?” He successfully lands a cross and as I spit out some blood, he grabs my arms sending the familiar shivers through me. “Ellie, I’m sorry! My emotions have been all over the place since the woods and you haven’t been here to talk it through, please give me a chance to just talk to you, alone.” Genuine concern and sadness is plastered all over his face and it makes me just want to pull him in for a kiss. With the mate bond, we can bo
Logan told everyone at school that he is having a bonfire again this weekend and Amber convinced me to go. She’s bringing multiple jars of her dad’s Apple Pie Moonshine and I know it is going to be so much fun! I have gotten through the rest of the week without any issues. Luke and I like always are back on good terms like nothing happened and Colin and I have given each other space to think about things. Victoria seems to be keeping her distance from him and is starting to accept the breakup which makes things less complicated for me, but I kind of feel bad for her. A little. Saturday has arrived quickly. Waking up in an amazing mood I get out of bed and stretch out. I have been back at the pack house since Monday night and on Saturday’s the cook makes waffles and pancakes with sausage, country fried apples and bacon. Sometimes if we are lucky, she will make biscuits and gravy as well, like today! I let my nose carry me into the dining room and quickly make myself a big pl
“How long have you been there?” “Long enough to hear you sing while you pee.” “You were watching me?!” “It’s not like I haven’t seen you naked.” “Wow, ok, this isn’t weird or embarrassing!” I huff at him and turn back towards the house, but my boot gets stuck on a fallen cornstalk and I trip. Colin is quick and catches me before I fall. “You know, you’re clumsy when you drink. I always end up catching you.” He places me back on my feet while still holding his hand on my lower back. “Well then it’s a good thing you were here to catch me, Mr. Creepy!” I say way too sarcastically. The moonshine is kicking in for sure. “Ellie, I’ve given you space this week to think. I’ve done my own thinking too. It didn’t take long for me. I’ve had my mind made up the minute we started kissing in the woods. I want you and no one else. I will do anything to prove that to you.” “I don’t know Colin; your words sound so amazing but I--” Before I can continue my sentence his lips are pressed against m
The moment I step back into the party Amber and Heather come running at me. “Where have you been girl, flip cup just started!” Amber grabs my wrists and then stares at me like she can see into my soul. She sniffs the air and looks slightly confused. She looks down slowly almost like she figured out who the killer in the movie was before anyone else. “OH, MY GODDESS ELLIE YOUR NECK!!!!!! My hand flings to her mouth and I try to shush her as much as possible. “Wow, should we call you Luna now?” Heather cracks herself up and is holding her stomach from laughing so hard. How does she know it’s from Colin? “That actually sounds amazing Ellie, you, my Luna.” The voice is smooth and laced with affection. Wait, that was Colin’s voice but it wasn’t out loud and from the looks of the girls they didn’t hear it. “We’re mated fully and marked Ellie. We can mind link now remember.” My head snaps around to the entrance of the corn field to see him walking with a huge grin plastered
“Luke, I was going to tell you.” I pull the hoodie back over my neck like that would suddenly reverse the last thirty seconds and he wouldn't have seen it. Obviously, that didn't work. “It’s fine Ellie, you’re his mate anyway right? Who am I to get upset? I’m just your friend with benefits. Well, when it benefits you.” His words are harsh but true and laced with sadness. I can tell his heart is broken. I search his eyes for any sign that we can get past this and all I see is hurt. I try to grab his arm but he moves it away before I can even touch it. “I need to get going, my dad should be coming back sometime tomorrow and we have important meetings all day. Goodnight Elenor I’m happy for you, really.” There is literally nothing I can do or say at this moment so I just watch him leave. Really hoping that tonight isn’t the end of our friendship. I see the girls are about to come to me and I wave them off. “I’ll find you guys in a little while; I just need space.” They know
I wake up with a throbbing headache. Ugh why did I drink so much. Wait, I didn’t drink enough to have a hangover. I rub the back of my head and my eyes jolt open as I remember what happened after leaving Logan’s. I bring my hand back in front of me and it’s covered in dried blood. I am already healed but can tell it was a deep cut from whatever hit me. I look around and take in my surroundings. I’m not sure where I am and I don’t smell anything familiar. I try to talk to Leia but the link is not working. She is either still blocking me out or we can’t reach each other. I tried to link my parents or Colin even with the same result. I sit up and look over my body making sure I have no other injuries. To my relief there are none that I can see. I do however notice I am wearing clothes that don’t belong to me. I remember that I shifted back right before being knocked out, so that means someone else dressed me, which is super creepy and embarrassing. Ok, I know I’m not in our pack’
