Chapter 10

Jason and I pull apart, still in shock from our unexpected kiss. I hide my face in Jason's chest, feeling my cheeks burn with embarrassment. "Avery, come on, look at me," Jason urges me.

I realise that I can't hide forever and reluctantly pull away from him. "Oh my God, what just happened?" I think to myself. "I can't believe I kissed him like that."

"Avery, come on," Jason interrupts my thoughts. "We need to talk about what just happened." Instead of owning up to my actions like a responsible and mature adult, what do I do? I completely submerged myself underwater. Jason bursts into laughter, and who could blame him? First, I bury my face in his chest, and then I disappear underwater like the Little Mermaid. What is wrong with my brain? "Avery, come up. You can't stay underwater forever. You'll eventually need to breathe," Jason says with a grin. I can hear the amusement in his voice once more. He must think I'm a complete idiot. Who wouldn't?
