Chapter Ten

"Hey Aubrey," said Valerie,

"Hey," replied Aubrey,

"I am Valerie, I haven't introduced myself to you, I am from Dathomir," said Valerie,

"Aubrey, from nowhere," replied Aubrey as she took her hands into her and shook them, Valerie sat on the seat where Aubrey sat,

"You should have known some spells, and how to cast them yourself," said Valerie,

"Not really, I have not cast any, but I have read ancient books on them," said Aubrey,

"I mostly feel this energy coursing through my veins, most times I want to vent, scream and bring the world to a stop, but I can't," said Aubrey, her eyes misty with tears droplets,

"You can, this energy is your strength trying to overtake you, you need to learn control first over your emotions to be able to control your power," said Valerie.

They both sat on the floor of Aubrey's room, facing each other, legs folded into the other,

"Hold my hands, and close your eyes," said Valerie,

Aubrey hesitated,

"Trust me, Aubrey I am here to help you," said Valerie.

Taking a deep breath, she closed her eyes and they both held hands,

"Repeat after me, Aurum Hanik Sabart Arkun," chanted Valerie,

"Aurum Hanik Sabart Arkun," they chanted together,

For some time nothing happened, Aubery breathed out loud and removed her hands from Valerie's, breaking the connection,

"It's not working," said Aubrey,

"Come on, this is just your first time, and you need to channel the energy around you," said Valerie in a reassuring voice,

"No, I am not what you all say I am, I don't know how to do this or what to do, I can't do this," said Aubrey, raising her voice,

"You can Aubrey, you can be anything you want to be and more, focus and concentrate, remove all thoughts, clear your mind and heart, let's try this again," said Valerie,

"Okay," replied Aubrey.

They held hands again and repeated the chant,

"Aurum Hanik Sabart Arkun," they repeated seven times and waited for a while, their both hands glowed and light passed across their face.

Valerie opened her eyes to catch a glimpse of Aubrey's face, her eyes were open and so blue like the deep sea, and a mixture of fire cut across her eyes, she screamed out loud yanking herself back with her hands stretched out front, and she looked at Valerie, whose eyes changed to fire and got shut.

"Out of the fuels of magic, we form you, from the enchanted towers we bare your soul to and we the ancestor link your souls together forever only to be altered by the true blood of a necromancer and a pure elf from the bloodline of mortals." Said an ancestor,

Standing with a sharp knife, in front of him were seven men tied down to a table, and a bowl of blood.

Surrounding them were three men and two women, they held hands together, they chanted together repeatedly,

"Maqui Zu Buru Dabbeda Yajna,"

The blood in the bowl started boiling, at that moment inscriptions were inscribed on the body of the bowl by an invisible hand, they kept chanting.

"We bind body, soul and spirit to the ancestral world, born by magic, forged by the blood of necromancer, elf bonded with the bloodline of a mortal." They chanted,

"From ashes to ashes, bones to bones, blood to blood, we rebuild the enchanted." They chanted, as fire erupted from their midst, they all fell, slipping their hands away from each other, and the fire died down.

They turned around and she heard a screeching sound, she came face to face with the ancestors, they grabbed her hands and she felt a burning sensation on her skin,

"She is the one," whispered the ancestors.

She fell on her face, close to where Aubrey lay.

Gwen had retired to her chambers to rest after her brief discussion with Queen Claudia, something seemed off, she didn't like the feeling she was getting.

She lay on her bed, rolling from one edge to another, not being able to sleep she stood up and stood by the window side, lost in the view and thoughts, she didn't notice Sauter's entry.

"Hey, Gwen," said Sautor, touching her lightly on her shoulder, she shuddered in fear,

"Hey," she replied catching her breath,

"Didn't hear you come in," said Gwen,

"Come on," said Sautor, leading her to the bed, they both sat down,

"Your shower time with Claudia, how was it?" Asked Sautor,

"I haven't seen Prince Logan, and she didn't mention him either?" Asked Gwen,

"Mmmh, after the war, we all flew together to a cave in peers but we couldn't stay there for long, the coven of Dathomir were offering us shelter," said Sautor,

"And?" Asked Gwen,

"Well, Logan would not have it that way, as he opted to find refuge in Riverdale," he said,

"Riverdale!" Exclaimed Gwen shocked,

"Yes, Riverdale, Claudia won't go to a place crawling with elves, and Logan won't go to a city crawling with necromancers," said Sautor, sighing,

"So, they went their separate ways?" Asked Gwen, feeling sorry and pity for Claudia,

"They did, and it broke Claudia a lot, she won't talk about him again," concluded Sautor,

"Pathetic," replied Gwen,

"Gretchen sent for Valerie," said Sautor,

"You did let her go?" She Asked,

"Yes, she made a deal with Claudia, she is to prepare Aubrey for what is to come," he said,

"She can get all the training she needs from the walls," replied Gwen, in a confused tone,

"Yes, she can, but she won't, Claudia is scared Aubrey might hate her for sending her away," he said,

"That's not enough reason Sautor, she is in danger out there," she said slightly raising her voice,

"She isn't, it is her destiny, Gwen," he replied,

"Is this Claudia's plan?" She asked,

"Yes, part of them," he replied,

"But, what of Logan, doesn't want his child or whatever?" She asked,

"Come here, you will understand all this as time progresses," he said as he held her hands and kissed them,

Oh, my sweet Gwen," he said, as she drew into his embrace, her mind still troubled trying to make sense of the situation, yet she gave in to his kisses she could use some distraction now, she thought to herself.

Alstin walked into Aubrey's room and found her and Valerie laying side by side on the floor of her room, blood streaming out from their nose and eyes, the perfectly carved writing on the wall of the room that hadn't been there before, carved of blood read,

"THE ONE AND THE SLAYER."

Goosebumps spread across his body as he stood by the entrance frozen to the ground.
