A sharp knock echoed through the room, and Fenil strode in. Fenil and Theo were brothers in arms. They co-owned the city’s most exclusive clubs and the glittering five-star hotels
"Theo..." Fenil said. “That girl was pounding on your door last night. Why didn’t you let her in? She left thinking heaven-knows-what!”
"Wait?" Theo interrupted him, "What..."
He turned around, and his gaze fell on the crimson stain on the bed. It was dried blood, and seeing that stain made him annoyed.
“You’re the guy who’d hear a pin drop in a coma!” Fenil pressed, leaning closer. “What the hell happened last night?”
Even Theodore couldn't understand. He was not the kind of person who lost control over himself. He hated the fact that his dick throbbed when he recalled her.
“Probably just another whore sneaking into my room,” he growled, taking a cigarette out of his pocket and lighting it. He knew the scandals going on around, and he had to be alert. “I don’t want her to come with a pregnant belly and claim it’s mine.”
"Well, I heard Rhea’s tying the knot with that scum Vincent," Fenil asked. " I know it's your responsibility to marry them off, as you promised your big sister but Vincent is your biggest enemy. Aren’t you worried about her?"
Theodore said nothing. There was always a reason behind his actions. Rhea was Theodore's niece, the daughter of his eldest sister. There was hardly a seven-year gap between them. After the death of their parents, both Rhea and Peter considered Theodore their everything.
“What, you want me to chain Rhea to some other guy?” Theodore’s voice was a low, dangerous rumble. Even Fenil knew Rhea would rather die than marry anyone but Vincent.
“Fair point,” Fenil conceded. “Force her, and she’ll still love that bastard.” Theodore laughed at his words.
"Love? You know that love doesn't exist in this world. It's all just a game of hormones. Manipulation of hormones cannot be called love. When the hormones are gone, love is gone," Theodore had a clear opinion about love. Theodore’s words caused Fenil to fall silent. He thought Theodore hated love, but now he realised Theodore actually disgusted love.
“Well, It’s because you never feel it before. By the way, when are you marrying?
You are turning thirty next year.” Fenil said, scratching his forehead. He was feeling anxious, but he also knew that what he could discuss with Theodore, no one else in the world could. And now it was essential to bring this matter to light.
“Well, we are dealing with Brown for their land in Xylos for our mine business.
Perhaps after that.”
Theodore lit another cigarette. Even he sees marriage and heirs as opportunities
to grow his empire, and nothing more. There was no other feeling he could feel other than rage. No one was able to break the wall of his heart.
Two weeks later, Aria arrived at the location sent by Peter. She boarded onto a giant ship which took guests to the island. She heard that Rhea and Peter’s uncle just bought an island this year and Rhea wanted her wedding to be held there. Rhea, Peter, and his family had already reached the island by a private yacht.
Aria was already stressed about her blind dates that her dad set up for her.
Yesterday she found her father looking at several photos to marry her off but there were some men with forty years of age. Now she was floating to Heart Island, at least for a few days, she would be away from all this chaos. The chartered plane landed on the private island, and all the guests disembarked.
"Aria..." Rhea called out to her, her face was glowing like a bride to be.
“Congrats, Rhea! I’m thrilled for you!” Aria hugged her tightly, her own troubles fading for a moment. After dealing with many misunderstandings, Rhea and Vincent were about to become one.
"I’m so glad you came. Peter has been missing you since morning," Rhea poked her elbow, teasing her. Hearing this made Aria feel a bit awkward. She didn’t say anything but made up her mind that she would confess everything to Peter once the wedding is over.
“Feel yourself home.” Rhea pressed her hand. Aria went inside the resort, which was a seven-star resort built at the seashore. The bodyguards patrolled every corner.
The wedding venue was far more lavish than Aria's imagination; every corner of the resort screamed luxury. Peter’s uncle’s taste was so expensive. Aria had never met Uncle Theo, but Peter’s stories painted him as a terrifying figure—strict, unyielding, a man who made Peter quake with a single phone call.
As Aria was walking towards her assigned room, she suddenly sensed that spicy fragrance again. It’s been three days but the scent of that man had not left her mind yet. As she moved forward, a pair of arms wrapped around her. She shoved back and gasped. Her breath turned heavier.
“Aria, what’s wrong? Do I look like a monster?” Peter’s voice was tinged with hurt. “You’re still not used to my touch?”
She breathed a sigh of relief when she found it was Peter. I rubbed her forehead, considering she must be a fool to think of him as that man, How could he be here? They were on the private island where hundreds of bodyguards guarding the guest and not even a single unknown drone could fly above the resort.
“No, I am not scared. It was sudden,” Aria smiled forcibly and rubbed her elbow.
"I am so glad that you decided to come." Peter said. "I hope you are not angry with Khloe too, she mistook me for her boyfriend." He asked, Aria knew she cannot avoid Khloe because they belong to the same friends group. Khloe was invited to the wedding too. Khloe’s father was a big industrialist and they all part of an elite group.
"No, I am not upset with her." Aria said, anyway she had no right to be upset with Khloe. Peter smiled and grabbed her hand.
"Go and get ready beautifully. I want you to meet someone. The most important person of my life.”
Aria entered her room and took a deep breath. If just a few days ago, Peter had introduced her to his family, she would have been very happy. Aria took a bath and wore a yellow sundress. She looked quite beautiful, with light brown hair and blue eyes. Everyone said she took after her mom, with her pale skin and thin body.
Once she was ready, Aria stepped outside. All the guests had gone to their rooms. Peter, Rhea, and her other friends were waiting for her, but Aria noticed that there was someone else there as well. However, he was sitting with his back to her. Aria could only see his broad shoulders.
"Hey, Aria, you’re here!" Peter got up from his chair to welcome her. "I told you about the special person in my life—my uncle Theodore."
“Aria, come meet him!” Peter’s voice boomed with excitement. She forced a shaky smile and stepped forward, but that haunting spicy scent slammed into her like a tidal wave. Her body froze and rooted to the spot like a statue. The man turned and Aria’s heart lurched, nearly bursting from her chest.Theodore’s eyes turned to daggers, pinning her with a stare that could shatter glass. From the moment he’d sat with these kids, all they’d yammered about was Aria. Her innocence, her quiet nature. He’d scoffed at the idea of such a pure soul existing in this rotten world. But hearing more, he’d felt a flicker of relief that his niece and nephew kept decent company. Now, seeing her, that flicker died.“Uncle Theo was about to leave, but we insisted that he meet you too.” Rhea chirped, her eyes glinting with mischief.Aria couldn’t move, couldn’t breathe. Sit at a table with her boyfriend and the man she’d slept with two weeks ago? Her legs trembled, but Theodore’s voice cut through her panic

Her eyes locked into his. His face was familiar yet stranger. He was striking, sharp features dark hair- still damp. “What are you staring at?” he said, sipping coffee as if she were a nuisance. “You have sold your body for one night and I screw you. Take that money and leave. It has more than you have asked for." The man’s words stung her like a slap.Aria's nostrils flared. Aria’s nose flared, her heart racing with anger and hurt. He thought she was a prostitute, but worse, his words reminded her of how men treated her mother. She stood tall, refusing to back down.“Can you explain why you are allergic to women like me?” She gulped and dared to ask him. “If you think I’m disgusting for selling my body, aren’t you worse for buying it? Trading money for flesh?” Her words hit hard. The man’s thick brows furrowed. No one dared to ask him anything like that, but before he could answer her, she placed the envelope on the table and without saying anything, she walked out by slamming the
Chapter 1A month agoThe club filled with frantic energy and strobing lights sliced through the edge. Aria sat at the edge of chaos. Her untouched drink was sweating on the table. Her sequined top looked more like a costume."Aria, why aren't you dancing?” Khloe’s voice exasperated. She tugged at Aria’s arm. “We’re at a club, not a funeral! And those clothes—come on, you’re killing me with the sulky vibe. Let’s go!”Aria shrank back. Her fingers tightened around her glass.“Sorry, Khloe. I’m fine here. I’m... not feeling great.” Her voice was low, as if the club's clamor couldn’t pierce the heavy wall around her heart. Peter leaned against the table, scoffed.“Nonsense, Aria. Khloe’s just trying to cheer you up, and you’re shooting it all down with that mopey face. You’re no fun.” His words stung. Yet his tone held a tint of restraint, like he was biting back something harsher.Aria’s gaze dropped to her phone. its screen flashing with another missed callfrom her dad. Her stomach t
PrologueHer blue sapphire eyes opened, meeting only darkness. Her heart raced when her fingers pressed into the soft bed beneath her. It felt cozy, but strange. She remembered stepping out of the car, holding her sparkling gown while leaving for her engagement but what happened next she didn’t remember.A loud scratch came from the door, making her body shake. She gripped the sheets, scared. “Who’s there?” she yelled. “What the fuck do you want from me? Why did you bring me here.." Footsteps grew closer. The air around her filled with that familiar, spicy smell- His smell. Her hands tightened on the sheets. Her breath hitched. "Theo, is that you?" She fumbled. The lights flicked on, blinding her.“You awake, my darling?” Theodore asked, leaning closer. Aria’s body shivered. She was in a fancy room, with velvet curtains and a shiny chandelier. This wasn’t right. She should be at her engagement, with her fiancé, her family. Not here, with him.Her chin was held by his hard fingers, an
