Luca adjusted his tie on his crisp white shirt

His honeymoon period was over. Not like it ever existed between them

The day's he had spent with Sharon were long and unbearable.

But he could resume his position as CEO

Donald and Enya had filled in for him, but he was sure his brother had messed some things up

As he wore his suit, he couldn't stop thinking about what Sharon told him a few weeks back

He couldn't understand why it hurt him, couldn't figure out why he was bothered about it

She was right, everything she said was true.

But there s something he couldn't understand. Not seeing her as much as he did before was supposed to bring joy to him, but for the first time, he couldn't explain what he felt

One thing was certain. He was going to treat her way worse than she had ever imagined.

If she thought she had figured him out, then she had no idea who he was

“Are you ready?”

Arman asked

Donald looked up at him from his mirror

“Yes”

“Would you like to say goodbye?”

Luca knew where this was going. Arman knew him, could read every expression he made, could see through him

And that scared Luca more than anything

“No!”

Arman sighed

Luca walked out of the mansion the same way he did before Sharon came into his life.

He didn't have breakfast with her, or stop my her room for a quick kiss, or leave a romantic note on the table

Sharon didn't see him off, didn't blow him a kiss while he entered his car, didn't text him a minute into his drive with a love emoji

She did however make the cup of coffee he drank that morning

Clarette had taught her well, and she had practiced, that her coffee and Clarette’s were almost the same

The chefs didn't suspect her, as she had established a cordial relationship with them

There was only one step left

Taking the pretty little bottle and adding a few drops of it into his usual mug, before Clarette served him

It wasn't that hard

Right?

******************

“Mr Luca Pavilochenki is here”

There were whispers all over the office

He walked into the headquarters of his family's company like he did on a random day, his usual cold and domineering aura filled the place

Associates and staff stopped to acknowledge him every step he took

He had only been gone a month and half

A petite woman came running to him when at the entrance of an elevator

She bowed to acknowledge him, before standing up straight and pushing her glasses

“We missed you sir”

“Luca's gaze softened, just for a few seconds”

Well I'm back now

He stepped into the elevator with her, and he couldn't help but noticr how nervous she was

“If you don't mind me asking sir, how is your wife?”

Luca ran his hand through his hair

“My wife is fine” His voice betrayed him. There were a few people he couldn't hide the truth from. But dmshe let it rest

“Your brother sir—”

“Typical asshole right?”

Enya smiled

“He has alternative methods, but he gets the job done half the time”

“Happy to hear you getting on well with my brother”

They reached the eight floor, and got out of the elevator

“How's business Enya?”

“Booming as usual, I made sure I kept the numbers in check”

“So in summary, my brother didn't really do anything?”

“Well he asked a lot of questions”

“Keep up the good work Enya”

Luca walked into his office and closed the door. It was so familiar to him, yet so alien

There was an emptiness inside of him. He felt out of place, felt like something was missing

But what?

He sat behind his desk, looked at the files in front of him, tried to concentrate on his life

But his mind was somewhere else, he was thinking about her, about Sharon

And he didn't know why

The day went by as swiftly as it had begun. The business meetings made no sense to him, he barely acknowledged his employees and soon, it was time for him to go home

But he didn't.

Sharon checked the time on her phone, it was 9:45 pm

She had already had dinner, but Luca hadn't come back.

She sat by her window, and her eyes were fixed to the gate. She glanced at her phone every now and again, but her mind was somewhere else

Could she be worried?

No, there was no way she would bring herself to have an atom of sympathy for him anymore

After all he had done, her only fear at that moment was they he might've been involved in an accident

God forbid circumstances caught up with him before she could kill him herself.

Sharon saw a familiar car make it's way into the mansion, vthere was no doubt it was Luca

From her perspective, she didn't see any defects in the car, it looked fine.

She walked down the stairs hoping to find the surprise of her life

And what a lovely surprise she found—

I felt his eyes move from my face,to my neck, to my cleavage. The robe did what it could—I could feel the heat rising inside of me. He wanted me, I could see it in his eyes. But I had to resist him, I mean we had barely even spent a day.If I was going to make it through in one piece, I needed to get him off my mind. That was the problem precisely. He was Luca Pavilochenki—“Ciao Bella signora!”I looked around for the owner of the squeaky voice, but I couldn't find himThen I looked down. He was standing between us, looking at me like I was the most fascinating thing in the world He was missing a few teeth, probably six or seven years old. And then I remembered the chorus that morning. Could he be one of them?“Well hello”I said, wondering if he had been there the whole time. If he had watched me and Luca grow awkward. But wait, he didn't understand English.I heaved a sigh of relief as I patted him on the headHe smiled at me, his missing teeth making him all the more cuteThen h

  • ONE NIGHT STAND WITH MY HUSBAND    CHAPTER 57

Welcome to Italy! The air hostess’ words filtered through space Sharon's mind was far away. Her and Luca hadn't seen each other for hours. No texts, not calls, nothing. He seemed to respect her privacy a little too much She was scared, scared of opening up a wound that didn't properly heal in the first place. She was scared of letting him know about her tragic past, scared letting him see what she had been hiding Nobody knew, not even Claire So she pushed him away—And gosh, she didn't even mean to But like he said, they were strangers. They landed in a private jet terminal in Florence, and walked into the VIP Like strangers, who met by chance on the plane—Immediately they filed the necessary paperwork, they were both met by two tour guides. Their luggage was taken to their respective places of residence It was evening, they were both tired, and things weren't quite settled between them The night was cold, and even the warmth of Italy couldn't shield herSharon looked at h

Sharon's fork fell to the floorHer eyes went blank, and her face was frozen in expression “Sharon I—”“Leave”“What?”“I'm not comfortable— around you”At that moment, Luca realised he had stepped on uncharted territory. Sharon never spoke to him about her nightmares, never gave him an explanation for her post traumatic responsesHe always suspected something, but he never gave in to his curiosity. Never asked, never pried, never raised questions And now, he just ruined a genuine moment, hopefully the first of many to come—By stating that she had a traumatic childhood Luca slowly stood up, with his head bowed “Sharon”“Don't fucking call me that. You're a stranger to me, remember?”Sharon had never spoken to him like that before. Infact she hardly defied him. He usually had his way, somehow. But he was beginning to realise that he hadn't touched the tip of the iceberg And winning her trust, her heart—Was still an abstract thought. One moment he felt like he was making progres

“Hey”“Riann”“Huh?”“Do you usually fall asleep on strangers?”Sharon became aware of her surroundings, and yes, she was sleeping on him Still, she had no idea how she got into that position, since she had been sitting opposite him “I'm sorry”She said, standing up quickly. Like he was the plague“I don't mind, really”She went back to her initial sitting position “No thanks”“Are you hungry Bella?”“No”Sharon folded her arms around her waist, but she couldn't stifle the sound of her stomach growling Luca gave her a comical smile “Will you eat with me?”Sharon sighed. She knew where it was going. He would offer to feed her during the course of their meal, and hold her in a romantic position. And slowly, she would desire his touch, his affection And eventually, they would do it again, and again, and Sharon would slowly fall in love—“No, I don't dine with strangers”Luca pressed a small bell and two waiters walked in with trays of food“It's okay, I'll leave the room for you t

“We will now take off, I urge you to sit tight and make yourselves comfortable”The cheesy voice of the air hostess echoed through Sharon smiled slightly She sat on a plush white cushion, a table was set in front of her with various appetizersLuca was in another room, keeping his word to make things appear like they met on the tripIt was delusional, but cuteTheir first encounter was terrible, their second, even worseAnd now they were just supposed to forget everything, the doubt, the uncertainty, all of itIt was like—A fresh start A sort of do over. They never got to discover anything about each other before they were married, never courted, never had genuine moments Their marriage was like a death sentence, a cross they had to carry, a burden they were straddled with Maybe if they had met under normal circumstances, maybe if they weren't forced into a union, things would've been different For Sharon, it was going to be a journey of self discovery. She was twenty three yea

  • ONE NIGHT STAND WITH MY HUSBAND    CHAPTER 53

“You look beautiful”Sharon turned to see Luca standing behind her. He was wearing a plain black shirt, with black pants and loafers. His lips were curled slightly into a smile His eyelashes fanned his deep blue eyes, and his hair was messed up perfectly, adding to his sheer beauty His presence sent shivers through her, and when their eyes met, for a moment, just a moment, they shared something beautiful. It was a fragile feeling, still in it's foetal state. And Sharon wasn't willing to accept it for what it was Not yet—“Thank you”Her eyes slowly darted back to the mirror, and she continued to adjust the band on her hairHe walked closer, so that could hear his breathing behind her, and feel the vibrations in his chest as he spoke “Leave it”“What?”He looked at her from the mirror.“I like your hair free”His hands moved to her head, and slowly, he loosened the bun she was trying so hard to achieve. He used his fingers to straighten them out, and paused for a moment to admire
