Coffee, cream, milk, sugar —

Sharon admired her masterpiece, a perfect mug of coffee

Her father gave her a call the previous night. He called to threaten her, because he had incurred a huge loss

The reason?

She felt concerned about her husband Luca, in his his drunken state of fury and madness.

Then she decided to check up on him

By doing that she disobeyed two rules

Trespassing, and poking her nose into his business

So he punished her—

This time, Sharon didn't need much of a reminder.

Her mantra that morning was said with enthusiasm

“I Will kill Luca Pavilochenki”

She took the bottle out of her pocket. Her hands shook, but she was strong willed.

Sharon poured three drops.

As she held the poison over his mug, she felt a tingling sensation, and cold washed though her, but she ignored the feeling

she closed the bottle and put it back inside her pocket

She took a deep breath, and the reality of what she just did began to claw at her

But Sharon had no time to think. She made her decision. Luca would not change, and her life was only going to be more miserable in the long run

She set the coffee on the tray, along with some toast

And when she looked up through the kitchen window

She caught a glimpse of a man's shadow

He walked past

But there was a probability that he had been staring at her.

Sharon shivered. At the time, there were only four people present in the house

Luca

Clarette

Arman

and herself

Aside from the security personnel and bodyguards who didn't enter the house frequently

It was either Luca or Arman

But Luca was waiting for his coffee, and somehow she could tell if Luca was close to her, she usually felt his presence

So it could only be one person

Arman

And she was certain he saw everything

The big question was

If Arman had seen her poison Luca's food, why didn't he make an attempt to stop her?

******************

Sharon was brought back to reality by the sound of Clarette's shoes

Clarette walked into the kitchen with a smile of her face

“You did great Young mistress, good job!”

Sharon gave her a smile that didn't quite reach her eyes

If the sweet lady had any idea what she did—

The concept of villains watching their victims die intrigued Sharon, and she decided to do so herself.

At a corner in Luca's personal dining, she stood

Behind an ornamental house plant

She was at the perfect angle to witness his suffering and demise

His gestures were laced with etiquette, from the way he held his teaspoon, to his demeanor entirely

So graceful, so elegant, so poised, so handsome!

What was she thinking, she was there to watch a man die for goodness sake

Sharon watched as he dropped the teaspoon on the tray and take the cup to his lips

Her heart beat rose

She felt the hairs on her neck stand

Luca blew his coffee gently, completely oblivious to the impending danger

Sharon could make a significant decision in the split seconds that would seal his fate

Or watch him pay for his sins—

The Angel on her right shoulder told her one thing, the Devil on the left told her another

As Luca was about to take a sip, he heard the strained voice of a disturbed woman scream—

“Asshole!”

Before he could even react, Sharon had swiped the cup from his hands

Luca and Sharon locked eyes. She was panting, her breathing was intense

The complete opposite of his calm but slightly confused demeanor

The next thing he knew, she had poured the contents of his breakfast into the pot that housed his precious plant

And dropped his empty mug on his table

A tear threatened to spill from her eyes and she quickly wiped it away

“What the hell was that?”

Luca asked, a lot more calmer than she had expected him to be

“there was a fly in your coffee”

“I didn't see any fucking fly!”

Luca stood up and walked to her menacingly. He suspected something, she knew he suspected something.

If he found out that she was trying to poison him, what would he do to her? What sort of terror would he release on her?

He took a strand of hair that fell unto her face and placed it behind her ear

“Why did you throw my breakfast Sharon”

His voice made her shiver, in a good way

She had to come up with a good lie on the spot

And a good lie had to be at least ninety- seven percent true

Sharon took a deep breath

“I made the coffee— I didn't think it was good enough so I threw it away”

Her head was bowed, she expected him to laugh, taunt her maybe, downgrade her—

He gently lifted her chin with his index finger, her eyes locked with his once more

“If you made it then I'll drink it”

It was almost a whisper, but Sharon heard every word

There was silence for a moment

His eyes spoke where his lips failed, and she could see something in them,

Need—

Then once again, his eyes turned cold, and he put his asshole cloak back on

But Sharon understood now. He was fighting something, and it was hurting him. She was fighting something too, but she couldn't say what it was

She didn't know if it was a good thing either

“I'll eat out”

He said before walking out of the dining

And leaving Sharon more confused than she had ever been in her entire life—

I felt his eyes move from my face,to my neck, to my cleavage. The robe did what it could—I could feel the heat rising inside of me. He wanted me, I could see it in his eyes. But I had to resist him, I mean we had barely even spent a day.If I was going to make it through in one piece, I needed to get him off my mind. That was the problem precisely. He was Luca Pavilochenki—“Ciao Bella signora!”I looked around for the owner of the squeaky voice, but I couldn't find himThen I looked down. He was standing between us, looking at me like I was the most fascinating thing in the world He was missing a few teeth, probably six or seven years old. And then I remembered the chorus that morning. Could he be one of them?“Well hello”I said, wondering if he had been there the whole time. If he had watched me and Luca grow awkward. But wait, he didn't understand English.I heaved a sigh of relief as I patted him on the headHe smiled at me, his missing teeth making him all the more cuteThen h

Welcome to Italy! The air hostess’ words filtered through space Sharon's mind was far away. Her and Luca hadn't seen each other for hours. No texts, not calls, nothing. He seemed to respect her privacy a little too much She was scared, scared of opening up a wound that didn't properly heal in the first place. She was scared of letting him know about her tragic past, scared letting him see what she had been hiding Nobody knew, not even Claire So she pushed him away—And gosh, she didn't even mean to But like he said, they were strangers. They landed in a private jet terminal in Florence, and walked into the VIP Like strangers, who met by chance on the plane—Immediately they filed the necessary paperwork, they were both met by two tour guides. Their luggage was taken to their respective places of residence It was evening, they were both tired, and things weren't quite settled between them The night was cold, and even the warmth of Italy couldn't shield herSharon looked at h

Sharon's fork fell to the floorHer eyes went blank, and her face was frozen in expression “Sharon I—”“Leave”“What?”“I'm not comfortable— around you”At that moment, Luca realised he had stepped on uncharted territory. Sharon never spoke to him about her nightmares, never gave him an explanation for her post traumatic responsesHe always suspected something, but he never gave in to his curiosity. Never asked, never pried, never raised questions And now, he just ruined a genuine moment, hopefully the first of many to come—By stating that she had a traumatic childhood Luca slowly stood up, with his head bowed “Sharon”“Don't fucking call me that. You're a stranger to me, remember?”Sharon had never spoken to him like that before. Infact she hardly defied him. He usually had his way, somehow. But he was beginning to realise that he hadn't touched the tip of the iceberg And winning her trust, her heart—Was still an abstract thought. One moment he felt like he was making progres

“Hey”“Riann”“Huh?”“Do you usually fall asleep on strangers?”Sharon became aware of her surroundings, and yes, she was sleeping on him Still, she had no idea how she got into that position, since she had been sitting opposite him “I'm sorry”She said, standing up quickly. Like he was the plague“I don't mind, really”She went back to her initial sitting position “No thanks”“Are you hungry Bella?”“No”Sharon folded her arms around her waist, but she couldn't stifle the sound of her stomach growling Luca gave her a comical smile “Will you eat with me?”Sharon sighed. She knew where it was going. He would offer to feed her during the course of their meal, and hold her in a romantic position. And slowly, she would desire his touch, his affection And eventually, they would do it again, and again, and Sharon would slowly fall in love—“No, I don't dine with strangers”Luca pressed a small bell and two waiters walked in with trays of food“It's okay, I'll leave the room for you t

“We will now take off, I urge you to sit tight and make yourselves comfortable”The cheesy voice of the air hostess echoed through Sharon smiled slightly She sat on a plush white cushion, a table was set in front of her with various appetizersLuca was in another room, keeping his word to make things appear like they met on the tripIt was delusional, but cuteTheir first encounter was terrible, their second, even worseAnd now they were just supposed to forget everything, the doubt, the uncertainty, all of itIt was like—A fresh start A sort of do over. They never got to discover anything about each other before they were married, never courted, never had genuine moments Their marriage was like a death sentence, a cross they had to carry, a burden they were straddled with Maybe if they had met under normal circumstances, maybe if they weren't forced into a union, things would've been different For Sharon, it was going to be a journey of self discovery. She was twenty three yea

“You look beautiful”Sharon turned to see Luca standing behind her. He was wearing a plain black shirt, with black pants and loafers. His lips were curled slightly into a smile His eyelashes fanned his deep blue eyes, and his hair was messed up perfectly, adding to his sheer beauty His presence sent shivers through her, and when their eyes met, for a moment, just a moment, they shared something beautiful. It was a fragile feeling, still in it's foetal state. And Sharon wasn't willing to accept it for what it was Not yet—“Thank you”Her eyes slowly darted back to the mirror, and she continued to adjust the band on her hairHe walked closer, so that could hear his breathing behind her, and feel the vibrations in his chest as he spoke “Leave it”“What?”He looked at her from the mirror.“I like your hair free”His hands moved to her head, and slowly, he loosened the bun she was trying so hard to achieve. He used his fingers to straighten them out, and paused for a moment to admire
