Claire had been scarred before.

By her father's absence

By her mother's shitty parenting

By her mother's boyfriend’s abuse

And things never really worked in her favour

But at a point, her life wasn't so bad. She had a job, well sorta

She had her own apartment, but most importantly

She had a good friend—

Sharon

Donald made her believe in a fantasy, he used her as he wanted, and he broke her

She felt like she had given her fragile, already messed up heart to him. And he pinched it to death and gave it back to her

Fresh tears slid down her cheeks

Donald had no respect for her. To him she was usable and expendable.

And now, she was in the palm of his hands.

Because he was blackmailing her.

Claire wanted nothing more but to leave his suite, go back to her old life and recover in silence

She could not bear to stay in the same place he was. It made her sick to her stomach

But Donald would not let her leave—

It was torture, but she somehow felt that she deserved it all

Claire was brought back to reality by the sound of f Donald's voice

He was on the phone with someone, but when he got to where she was, he had ended the call

Claire looked at him with teary eyes while he looked at his reflection in the mirror.

“When can I go home?”

She asked, sounding depressed

Donald stared at her from the mirror

“You can't go home, I still need you to do some things for me”

“Haven't you hurt me enough?”

Claire sobbed

Donald turned to her and grabbed her face

“Unless you want me to still your secrets, you'll do whatever the fuck I say!

His fingers pressed into her cheeks, and she squirmed

“Do you understand bitch?”

Claire nodded reluctantly, then he let her go

“Now, you'll keep up the act with Mrs Gray, so she doesn't suspect anything.

You'll give her flowers and be nice

You won't even attempt to fuck this up because if you do”

He turned to her again

“If you do Claire, you will be met with an unexplained stroke of bad luck—”

*******************

Sharon sat on a wooden chair in the garden of Luca's mansion.

There was the sound of birds chirping, and it gave her a sort of peaceful feeling

But in reality, she just wanted to wrap her head around everything that was going on, but she couldn't.

It was far too nuanced and complex for her to come up with a logical answer

She heard someone clear his throat in the background

He had probably been watching her for a while.

Then she turned, it was

Arman

Her heart skipped a beat as she remembered what happened that morning

“I see you enjoy the bird's Young mistress”

“Yes” she replied, a little too quickly

Her palms were sweaty, and she was nervous as hell

But slightly relieved

Because if he had told Luca, things would have been a lot worse

But how would she be able to look him in

the face now?

Sharon sighed

“You saw me, didn't you”

Her face was down, her eyes were fixed to the grass

“I didn't see anything Young mistress”

Sharon looked at him

And he winked at her

“I don't understand” Sharon said, a puzzled look on her face

Arman leaned on the chair she was sitting

“If you were going to kill Luca, you would've done it already

Plus—

I think there's a silver lining to all of this”

“So—you’re not gonna tell?”

Her eyes glowed in anticipation

“Nope. I didn't see anything”

“Thank you Arman”

“You're welcome”

“Does this mean we're friends now?”

Arman thought for a moment

“I guess it does”

He stood up straight

“I have to go Young mistress”

“Sharon!, my name is Sharon”

“I can't call you that!”

He said as he walked a few steps away from her, waving a goodbye.

Sharon smiled. He had said it before, Luca would have his head

Luca was possessive

Even though he didn't like her, he never let anyone disrespect her

And for some reason, he stopped calling her a whore

For some other reason, he no longer welcomed his blonde mistress in into the house

For another completely different reason, he didn't disclose her identity when he had the chance

Was he perhaps— becoming softer towards her?

Nahhh, that's bullshit

That evening, Sharon was about to have dinner in the main dining. It was thirty minutes past six

She wore a sleeveless, thin blue silk gown. It had a little jacket, but she would be dammed.

No one was really in he house, Arman had left a while ago, most of the servants were women, and Luca always came back drunk at odd hours

But for some reason, Luca's car pulled up in the driveway.

She went to the window to confirm if it was really him

And there he was

His driver opened the door, he came down from his car and walked to the entrance of the house

It was either Sharon's eyes were playing tricks on her, or there was something different about him

No jittery movements, and he completely ignored the first vase he saw

Was he perhaps—

Sober?

Sharon ran through the stairs as fast as her legs could take her

Of course someone had already opened the door, but her suspicions were true

Luca wasn't drunk

They locked eyes

And Sharon felt a heat surge within her

His suit was in his hand, and his first three shirt buttons had been undone, revealing a chest that adorned a perfectly sculpted torso

She didn't know why, but her legs moved to him. She wasn't thinking straight, she wasn't in her right senses

Because to the first thing she did

Was hug him

  • ONE NIGHT STAND WITH MY HUSBAND    CHAPTER 58

I felt his eyes move from my face,to my neck, to my cleavage. The robe did what it could—I could feel the heat rising inside of me. He wanted me, I could see it in his eyes. But I had to resist him, I mean we had barely even spent a day.If I was going to make it through in one piece, I needed to get him off my mind. That was the problem precisely. He was Luca Pavilochenki—“Ciao Bella signora!”I looked around for the owner of the squeaky voice, but I couldn't find himThen I looked down. He was standing between us, looking at me like I was the most fascinating thing in the world He was missing a few teeth, probably six or seven years old. And then I remembered the chorus that morning. Could he be one of them?“Well hello”I said, wondering if he had been there the whole time. If he had watched me and Luca grow awkward. But wait, he didn't understand English.I heaved a sigh of relief as I patted him on the headHe smiled at me, his missing teeth making him all the more cuteThen h

  • ONE NIGHT STAND WITH MY HUSBAND    CHAPTER 57

Welcome to Italy! The air hostess’ words filtered through space Sharon's mind was far away. Her and Luca hadn't seen each other for hours. No texts, not calls, nothing. He seemed to respect her privacy a little too much She was scared, scared of opening up a wound that didn't properly heal in the first place. She was scared of letting him know about her tragic past, scared letting him see what she had been hiding Nobody knew, not even Claire So she pushed him away—And gosh, she didn't even mean to But like he said, they were strangers. They landed in a private jet terminal in Florence, and walked into the VIP Like strangers, who met by chance on the plane—Immediately they filed the necessary paperwork, they were both met by two tour guides. Their luggage was taken to their respective places of residence It was evening, they were both tired, and things weren't quite settled between them The night was cold, and even the warmth of Italy couldn't shield herSharon looked at h

  • ONE NIGHT STAND WITH MY HUSBAND    CHAPTER 56

Sharon's fork fell to the floorHer eyes went blank, and her face was frozen in expression “Sharon I—”“Leave”“What?”“I'm not comfortable— around you”At that moment, Luca realised he had stepped on uncharted territory. Sharon never spoke to him about her nightmares, never gave him an explanation for her post traumatic responsesHe always suspected something, but he never gave in to his curiosity. Never asked, never pried, never raised questions And now, he just ruined a genuine moment, hopefully the first of many to come—By stating that she had a traumatic childhood Luca slowly stood up, with his head bowed “Sharon”“Don't fucking call me that. You're a stranger to me, remember?”Sharon had never spoken to him like that before. Infact she hardly defied him. He usually had his way, somehow. But he was beginning to realise that he hadn't touched the tip of the iceberg And winning her trust, her heart—Was still an abstract thought. One moment he felt like he was making progres

  • ONE NIGHT STAND WITH MY HUSBAND    CHAPTER 55

“Hey”“Riann”“Huh?”“Do you usually fall asleep on strangers?”Sharon became aware of her surroundings, and yes, she was sleeping on him Still, she had no idea how she got into that position, since she had been sitting opposite him “I'm sorry”She said, standing up quickly. Like he was the plague“I don't mind, really”She went back to her initial sitting position “No thanks”“Are you hungry Bella?”“No”Sharon folded her arms around her waist, but she couldn't stifle the sound of her stomach growling Luca gave her a comical smile “Will you eat with me?”Sharon sighed. She knew where it was going. He would offer to feed her during the course of their meal, and hold her in a romantic position. And slowly, she would desire his touch, his affection And eventually, they would do it again, and again, and Sharon would slowly fall in love—“No, I don't dine with strangers”Luca pressed a small bell and two waiters walked in with trays of food“It's okay, I'll leave the room for you t

  • ONE NIGHT STAND WITH MY HUSBAND    CHAPTER 54

“We will now take off, I urge you to sit tight and make yourselves comfortable”The cheesy voice of the air hostess echoed through Sharon smiled slightly She sat on a plush white cushion, a table was set in front of her with various appetizersLuca was in another room, keeping his word to make things appear like they met on the tripIt was delusional, but cuteTheir first encounter was terrible, their second, even worseAnd now they were just supposed to forget everything, the doubt, the uncertainty, all of itIt was like—A fresh start A sort of do over. They never got to discover anything about each other before they were married, never courted, never had genuine moments Their marriage was like a death sentence, a cross they had to carry, a burden they were straddled with Maybe if they had met under normal circumstances, maybe if they weren't forced into a union, things would've been different For Sharon, it was going to be a journey of self discovery. She was twenty three yea

  • ONE NIGHT STAND WITH MY HUSBAND    CHAPTER 53

“You look beautiful”Sharon turned to see Luca standing behind her. He was wearing a plain black shirt, with black pants and loafers. His lips were curled slightly into a smile His eyelashes fanned his deep blue eyes, and his hair was messed up perfectly, adding to his sheer beauty His presence sent shivers through her, and when their eyes met, for a moment, just a moment, they shared something beautiful. It was a fragile feeling, still in it's foetal state. And Sharon wasn't willing to accept it for what it was Not yet—“Thank you”Her eyes slowly darted back to the mirror, and she continued to adjust the band on her hairHe walked closer, so that could hear his breathing behind her, and feel the vibrations in his chest as he spoke “Leave it”“What?”He looked at her from the mirror.“I like your hair free”His hands moved to her head, and slowly, he loosened the bun she was trying so hard to achieve. He used his fingers to straighten them out, and paused for a moment to admire
