Charles' Torture

last update Last Updated: 2025-05-31 20:18:22

Esther's POV

The stranger's blue eyes beg me to save her, but I watch in my perfected blank stare as Charles Du Pont sinks his fangs further, draining the life out of her.

He throws her lifeless body on the floor as if it’s a rag-doll. He looks up at me, his amber eyes glowing with pleasure and without any trace of blood on his lips.

“This is one of the best things about being a vampire. Power!” He grins. “It’s amazing, isn’t it?”

I murmur in agreement, my stomach churning in disgust as I try not to give him the reaction he wants.

“So, why do you hate drinking the blood of life?” He grins. “I’ve heard stories about you and your choice of... Food.”

“And you believed them? How would I survive if I didn’t drink blood?”

“Oh! My love," he says with an exaggerated snd obvious fake concern. "Why didn’t you stop me from drinking alone?”

“You seemed hungry,” I shrug.

“I knew you would make a perfect bride, and you will always put my needs first." He grins. "I have a surprise for you. Come with me.”

I silently follow him. We take normal human steps through the castle, and it takes everything in me to remain patient. He keeps stealing glances at me, his smirk not leaving his face.

"Honey," I say with a fake smile. "The suspense is killing me. Can't we just speed up a little?"

"Patience, my love. We will get there." He smirks.

'Charles, how long are we going to play this game?' I send a telepathic message.

'What game?' He raises a brow.

'The game of you pretending to be in love with me in front of your family and mine.'

'Oh! That? We can play until you back out or later ask for separation. I was hoping that you would back out before the wedding.' He sighs.

'Why don’t you back out? I have more to lose than you.'

'Don’t be selfish, I also have so much to lose. You will be the one who leaves this sham of a marriage first.'

When we finally get to one of the guest rooms, he swings the door wide open. I gasp when I come face to face with about five humans. Three of them are younger than 17, and then two are about older than 70.

“Here’s your buffet, my lady." He bows, then he moves and stands behind me, placing his hands on my shoulders, making my skin crawl. "Pick whoever you want. You are about to be my wife, and it will be my duty to provide for you.” He whispers. “Who do you think deserves your mercy?” he says out loud.

All terrified eyes look at me expectantly. They don’t have to say anything for me to know that every person in the room hopes that I will pick them.

I randomly point at a boy who looks like he could be 14 years old. Charles moves at his vamp speed and makes him kneel in front of me. His wide grin making my stomach churn. “You have chosen well.”

“I suppose we have to hypnotize him before we let him go?” I ask him.

“Let him go where?” He asks with a smirk.

“Home? You said...”

“You misunderstood me, my love. I meant to save from this miserable world. It’s our job to save them, you know.”

My eyes widen, and his lips curl up.

“Please, please, please...” The boy looks up at me, his palms put together as he begs.

I swallow uncomfortably. “I’ve had my fill two days ago. I’m still okay.”

“Just as I suspected. You don’t drink human blood. Do you?”

“I...”

“Drink!” He motions towards the boy, his voice low and dangerous.

He pauses, clearly speaking to someone through telepathy.

'That was Joan, the real love of my life. When I come back, you are going to drink this boy's blood.'

'You moron!' I glare at him.

'You will drink when I come back!' He swooshes out of the room.

Five minutes later, the room breaks into a chaos of bloodcurdling screams and tears of humans who are begging me to save them. I pace around the room, panicking.

“Stop!” I raise my hand. “I need to think.”

“I’m going to spare your lives for one more day. If I leave and never come back, he is going to kill all of you.”

The room breaks into chaotic panic again.

“Do you want to die?” I hiss, baring my teeth at them.

They all fall silent, moving to the furthest corner of the room. “If I release you, the vampires will kill you before you reach the doors of the castle. If you escape with some luck, there are more vampires in this forest. So, I’m giving you one more day. I’m going to run away, and I will still find you here tomorrow, I hope I would’ve come up with a plan.”

“Please don’t leave us,” the boy cries.

I close my eyes, and I bolt out of the room. The heavy door lands in a thud as I close it.

I write a note, afraid that if I send a telepathy, Charles might come back to ‘check up on me.’

*Don’t let anyone touch my food, out for a walk. Will be back soon.*

I stick the note on the door of the guest bedroom, and I listen for footsteps around the castle. I move in one swift motion to the main doors, and the guards bow before opening the doors for me.

“You are finally here," Margaret, Charles’ sister, appears out of nowhere. "I was starting to get bored. Are you ready to see the garden? The decorations for your wedding reception are beautiful.” She squeals in excitement.

  • Old Souls: Vampire Princess Vs The Last Lycan   Dominic's Confusing Questions

EstherI'm sitting in the center of my bed, my arms around my knees, and I can't stop crying. I’m trying to think of a reason I feel this way. There’s this emptiness in me that I can’t explain, but I shrug it off as the loss of my family that I’m experiencing. It has been over 300 years, but this is new to me since I just woke up.I sigh at the irritating sound of the knock on the window. I already know who it is through the scent. When I finally open, Dominic gracefully throws himself into the room.“I’m back,” he grins.“My heart is overflowing with joy,” I glare at him.“I know,” he beams, and it transforms his face. I look away to try to get rid of the mental image, to remind myself that I’m married.“What are you doing here? You might get caught.”“You care about me?” He places a hand on his chest in mock surprise.“No,” I roll my eyes. “What do you want?”“My wolf thought we should see our mate. The least you could do is say hi.”“Leave.”“Okay,” he nods.I eye him expectantly,

  • Old Souls: Vampire Princess Vs The Last Lycan   Talking To Jane

Jane “Jane, what was that?” Dominic's tone is gentle but firm. “I don’t trust them. Okay? If by some miracle you and Esther ended up together…” “Given the way you hate me these days," he interjects. "I’m surprised that you were rooting for us when we were human.” I glare at him for his dramatic words. “You know how realistic I am, Dominic, and when we were human, the chances of our family accepting your relationship with Esther were pretty low, but I knew that it was possible for you two to be happy together. Right now it's different…” “How is it different right now?” “Do you think that if you two were together, the werewolves, witches and warlocks would jump with joy? You are a hybrid, Dominic, and Esther is a vampire. The werewolves can’t let you two rule. It will be like letting vampires take over.” “I can let all that go if she wants to be with me,” he protests. “I never wanted to be a Lycan king, anyway.” “Do you think they would let you? They might kill her to…” “I almo

  • Old Souls: Vampire Princess Vs The Last Lycan   New Uncle

Esther“Uncle,” I look from Uncle Felix to Louis, guilt gnawing at me. “I couldn’t do it.” I shake my head.“Not this again,” Uncle Felix mumbles under his breath.“Again?” I ask, confused.“Yes, again!” He snaps. “You do this every damn time! What was your reason for not rejecting him this time around?”“I, I just couldn’t do it.”“I can’t do this,” he says, getting up and pacing the room, pinching the bridge of his nose. “I can’t deal with any of it. I wish I were the one who had died so that your parents would be the ones to deal with this mess. Being responsible for someone as selfish as you is tiring.”“I will reject him.” I don’t care about the desperation in my voice. It’s hard to see my uncle’s opinion of me changing and him losing his trust in me. “I just need a little time and patience...”“I’ve been patient long enough,” he hits the table. Louis and I get out of the way in time. We watch the table crumble, causing the dishes and plates to scatter on the floor, some of them

  • Old Souls: Vampire Princess Vs The Last Lycan   Tense

HildaWe decided to stay in a hotel in London to avoid letting other pack members get attacked by Felix’s army. We are all silent and pacing back and forth in the living room of the penthouse when the elevator doors open and Alpha Dominic walks out of the elevator, his face marred with a look I cannot describe. “Dominic!” Jane rushes to his side. “Goodness! You look like you’ve seen a ghost.”“I might as well have.” He looks down at her. I’ve never seen Alpha Dominic like this before. It almost scares me. He looks broken and helpless. “You saw her,” Jane says. “I met her,” Alpha Dominic nods. “We are too late.”“We will find it,” Valerie says to him. He doesn’t reply. Instead, he sinks into the couch and glances at Aiden, who is sitting on another couch. Aiden’s eyes drop.“Don’t feel guilty, Aiden,” Alpha Dominic says gently. “I shouldn’t have left her,” Aiden says in a low voice. “I was supposed to protect...”“They would’ve killed you!” Alpha Dominic interjects. “I’m glad that

EstherI’m the one who stands on my tiptoes, and I wrap my arms around his neck. He kisses me back, but then I pull away. This feels wrong, even as I try to justify it by saying to myself that I’m doing this to distract him and weaken his defences. “I’m sorry,” he says. “No, I’m the one who kissed you first.”He puts his arms around my shoulders, holding me and kissing the top of my head. I don’t make any effort to move away. He is the first to let go. Then, he places his index finger under my chin and looks into my eyes. “What are you doing?” I try to snarl at him, but it comes out as a whisper. “Looking at you.” His eyes are dark, and there’s no smile on his lips. I have to kill him before it’s too late. He might be putting a spell on me through his beautiful eyes. I kiss him hungrily. He kisses me back, his hands on my waist, and I place my hands on his chest, ready to use this opportunity to get it over with. He doesn’t seem to mind, he pulls me closer. I have no idea how my

Esther“What do you think?” I snap. “I think you won’t succeed,” he vibrates behind me with a chuckle.“Let me go so that we can see if you are telling the truth.”“If you want me to let go, you have to promise to leave with me.”“You want to kill me.”“No,” he sighs. “If I kill you, I die.”I try to think of where and when I heard these words. I know I heard them somewhere, but I forgot where. “These words sound familiar.”“Because they are familiar,” he drawls. “Let me guess, we were together in a past life and you said those words?”“Something like that,” he chuckles. “This isn’t funny. I don’t know what I did to deserve you as a mate. You are one person I really hate.”I feel him stiffen, but he doesn’t say a word. “Please let me go.” I feel the energy of witches, warlocks and werewolves in this room, as if they are not far away. The room looks like a hotel room, and the white curtains are closed. “Where are we anyway?”“We are in a room in the forest. When they found out you
