Esther

I open my eyes to find myself lying on the floor of a dark room.

I sigh with relief when I realize someone unfastened my hands, and I try to access at least one of the vampires through telepathy, but I figure the ghost orchid in my body is still blocking me.

I sit upright, the coldness of the floor having no effect on me. I sniff, trying to make out where I am, and my nose twitches at the smell of Dominic, other werewolves, moist rocks, rogues and old dried-out blood. I adjust my vision to see better. How long have I been in this cave?

I crawl to the opening of the cave, still feeling weakened by the ghost orchid.

The opening is sealed with a large rock. I lie on the floor, hugging my knees, my strength completely gone, and at this moment, I just wish that they would kill me and get it over with.

My ears perk up at the sound of hurried footsteps, but I struggle to sit up.

“A cave? You have put the princess of vampires in a cave?” A voice that I know all too well roars. “
