LOGINChapter Eight
What really happened at the party? Emily searched her bag carefully looking for her key only to realize she had lost it. She knocked on the door a couple of times. There wasn't any response. She picked up her phone to call Rosie, who picked up after the fifth attempt. She was getting impatient. Could this day get any worse? Rosie, who was fast asleep, got woken up by her phone ringing and picked it up. “I am so sorry, hope you have not been here for a long time. I was asleep”. She explained herself. She stepped out to assist Emily in opening the door, “What of your key, where did you keep them” she asked and looking at her properly, “What happened to your dress”.Rosie asked, shocked to see Emily looking different from the way she was when she left the house to the party. “ It doesn't look like you had a great time, who made a mess of you like this, you don't seem to be happy”. She said, ushering her inside. “ I don't know Rosie, am I asking for too much, I only wanted to be noticed but certainly not in this manner, I need a love that doesn't ” she said feeling like she was trying too much on herself causing her social life to fall apart. Emily said feeling extremely sad. “Come here, Rosie said, bringing her close and giving her a warm hug. “Don't make anyone make you feel less of yourself, Emily get a grip of yourself and brace yourself, you are smart, beautiful and confident. Anybody will be lucky to have you” Rosie said assuredly. “I am going to your office to give your boss a piece of my mind, He can't invite you to a party and make you feel bad for attending”.She said, giving Emily a glass of water to calm her nerves. “That guy is a jerk for hurting you”.she cursed at him. “ He didn't,” Emily interrupted her voice cracking as she collected the cup and started to drink the glass of water to calm her nerves “ Then who the hell did it”. she asked curiously. “ The lady he brought with him caused the fight, her name is Ashley. She accused me of flirting with him and told me I will be nothing but his puppet and I can't ever have a chance with him. Rosie, What did I do wrong here? Can anyone ever tell the heart whom to love? Why am I falling so hard and there is nobody to catch me”. She said her heart shattered into tiny million pieces. Did Liam give this to you” Rosie asked, pointing at the suit jacket lying on the cushion. “ Yes, he did after the fight, he asked me to go home since the party is over and she has made a mess out of me. Rosie, I am so weak, I couldn't even stand up for myself. I let this random girl walk all over me just like that”. Emily sobbed quietly using a tiny piece of handkerchief to wipe her tears. “ You aren't dear, she just happen to lack character, what is the need fighting over a man that had not made you his own, if he is so in love with her like she claimed why are they not married, she is just mean and pathetic and trying such tk rub it off on you that's so bad of her being jealous that your boss her lover thinks highly of you, she is insecure and got to work on herself”Rosie assured her. “ What will I have done without you? You have always been my safe place all the time, I don’t know what you will do without me”She said, embracing Rosie tightly. “ You can count on me, and don't let any mother fucker make you cry again, your tears should be tears of joy always and not getting sad over a man ever again, if he wants you he will always come around and you will not have to do too much but to be yourself, the right one will accept you amd give you all the peace you need darling”. “Let me go freshen up, I have a long day tomorrow, we are launching a new product and I want to put in my absolute best to make it work with Liam's expertise and my commitment, I am pretty sure we will kick start this project into the market with a huge success”. “You still can't get your mind off work no matter what happens, Emily you need to learn how to put yourself first, it would help you in life to make better decisions”. “ I am trying to, but work matters to me and comes first before any other thing in my life”. She replied as she picked up her laptop, ignoring her words. She leaned backwards on the arms chair, her eyes focused on the screen and her fingers rested on her chin. She sighed and scrolled down to get a few pieces of information about the project she was working on. Okay, dear, wish you all the luck in the world. I can't wait to hear the news about how you succeeded in kicking the project to success like the previous, who wouldn't be more than glad they hire you” Rosie chipped, Emily smiled in deep admiration. “Glams enterprise or my boss Liam, whatever ” Emily responded grinning from ear to ear. Still thinking about all that happened today between her and Ashley. Is she just being delusional? Liam hasn't even asked her and here she is fighting over him with another girl. Does she even have a chance with Liam? Remembering Rosie's advice to put herself first, that's the right thing to do? She sighed deeply if only the universe would give her a sign, just one sigh then she would be totally okay with it? The heart wants what it desires and who can stop it?Chapter TwentyLiam is a JerkEmily returned home, knocked on the door, and Rosie hurried to open it. Emily pushed the door and entered the room, slamming it behind her.She collapsed onto the couch, dropping her bag to her right with a quick gesture. Her palms were soaked with sweat.Rosie stared at her; a wave of panic washed over her when their eyes met. She set the book she had been reading on her lap.“How was the party? I hope you had fun? You don’t look relaxed. Are you okay, Emily?” Rosie asked, firing several questions at once.Emily felt her heart pounding in her chest. “I wish I could be, but I drank too much. My God, it’s such a disaster. I still can’t believe this is happening to me. What did I do wrong?” Her body began to tremble.“Breathe deeply. Whatever happens, we’ll get through this together. What happened?”Her emotions exploded at that moment.“How did I end up in this mess?” she shouted as Rosie approached and grabbed her arms.“Tell me something, what’s the prob
Chapter NineteenI Can’t Believe I’m PregnantEmily arrived just in time for the celebration. It was a reception for the teams from Glam and Graham, with both CEOs present: Liam and Mr. Rodrick. Emily smiled, filled with a sense of accomplishment, as she entered gracefully, her charm catching everyone’s attention.“Congratulations, Emily,” Mr. Rodrick said, approaching to acknowledge her work.“If only you weren’t employed by your boss, who happens to be my friend, I would have been delighted to consider you for my own company. It’s been a pleasure working with your company to make this possible. I’m truly thrilled,” he added.“Thank you, sir. It was a team effort; we succeeded together,” Emily replied.“I see your humility is as admirable as your competence,” he added, shaking her hand with such firmness that she wavered slightly. She tried to pull her hand back, but he seemed insistent.“All is well. We both rose to the occasion for this project, and the results speak for themselves
Chapter EighteenSuccessEmily opened her phone and saw a notification from the Skype news station. It was everywhere:“Coco Pops has reached the top spot as the best-selling cereal on the consumer market, while families enjoy a nutritious breakfast every morning,” announced the journalist.Tears of joy streamed down her cheeks. She screamed from her room and ran through the house looking for Rosie. She finally found her in the kitchen, baking as usual, her hands covered in flour.“What’s going on?” Rosie asked, noticing the excitement written all over Emily’s face.“You won’t believe what just happened! The project I told you about the last time, the one that was weighing so heavily on me… it’s finally launched on the market, and it’s a huge success,” Emily said, overflowing with happiness.“Rosie, I can’t believe my ears. It worked, and it comes with a raise and a bonus from my boss and his partner. This will give us more money to pay our bills,” Emily added, beaming.“I’m so happy
Chapter SeventeenThe New ProjectThe next morning, Emily opened the folder Alice had brought to the office.“I have work to do. I can’t believe I’m here worrying about the past,” she muttered to herself.Although the work was challenging, responding to Graham’s proposal was the most important thing for her, and she couldn’t bear the thought of losing her job.Emily’s phone rang, and she glanced at the caller before answering. It was Liam. She sighed deeply.“What does he want this time?”— “Good morning, Miss.”— “Emily, come down to my office. I have something important to discuss with you—it’s urgent.”— “Alright, sir. I’m on my way,” she replied, giving the document one last glance before heading out.— “I want to finalize the discussion regarding our upcoming projects. I have an important meeting with a client next week, and I think you would be perfect to lead this project.”— “Your dedication and attention to detail have not gone unnoticed.”— “Thank you, sir. I’ll give it my b
Chapter SixteenProfessionalismThe next day, Emily entered the building and headed straight for Liam’s office to bring him his usual coffee and present the day’s schedule. Once that was done, she quietly slipped away. She wasn’t ready to face him yet. She froze as she heard his voice behind her.“What happened last night meant nothing,” he said, looking her squarely in the eyes as she turned her gaze to a corner of the room.“My God, why does he keep staring at me like that?” she whispered. “These eyes will be my downfall.”“As long as you continue to do your job well here at Glam’s Enterprises, I am willing to work with you. What happened last night is entirely your fault: you couldn’t control your desire for your boss. Do you always get carried away this easily with everyone you meet?” he said coldly.“I expect professionalism at all times. It must never interfere with work. You need to put everything behind you and focus on the well-being, growth, and development of Glam’s Enterpr
Chapter FifteenMemoriesThe memory made her shiver—not from shame, but from the pleasure he had given her.My God, it had felt so good. She couldn’t deny it.But that morning? It felt as if it hadn’t meant anything to him.Emily paced her room, wrapped in a silk robe, the phone still clutched in her hand. She glanced in the mirror: her skin still bore faint traces of him. A bruise on her collarbone. Red marks on her thighs. Her face was a mixture of regret, confusion, and… desire.“Can someone explain why I’m lying naked in a hotel with my boss?” she asked, to no one in particular. The room remained still. Silence prevailed. Every word she spoke echoed back at her.“Oh my God… this can’t be what I think, right?” she gasped, shocked.Tears streamed down her face, her heart shattering into a million tiny pieces. He stepped out of the bathroom. He didn’t give her a glance, grabbed his clothes, and began getting ready.“You should hurry and get dressed. Checkout is at noon, and I’m not r
