Chapter 12

My eyes left Jet as I made contact with Adron. His creatures were on all fours as they studied their prey. Every fiber of my being was telling me to not go to him, but I didn’t want Jet to get hurt!

“Baby, come to me. We can defeat them. Don’t go to him. Come to me… please!” Jet mind-linked me. The vulnerability in his voice made my knees weak.

“I don’t want you guys to get hurt because of me!” I replied. I was so scared that I doubt my feet would move.

“Clock is ticking. You have one more minute to decide before I attack!” Adron promised.

“Just come to me. If anything happens to you, I won’t forgive myself. Now, please!” Jet kept begging. Slowly, my foot raised up as I moved it back half a step before putting it down. That little movement wasn’t unnoticed by Adron.
