Lucy's pov

“This letter must reach Lady Elaine directly,” I said, my voice low but firm. “Do not hand it over to anyone else, not a guard, not a messenger, no one. I want you to give it to her yourself, and make sure she reads it.”

“Yes, my lady,” she nodded solemnly.

“And Miriam,” I added, narrowing my gaze slightly. “Not a word of this to anyone. Not before you leave. Not while you’re there. Not even after you return. This stays between us.”

“I understand, my lady. I won’t breathe a word.”

I studied her face for a moment. She was young, but she had a good heart and a loyal spirit. I nodded, satisfied, and handed her the letter.

“You leave within the hour. Everything you need will be waiting in the courtyard.”

She bowed deeply, clutching the parcel tightly. “I won’t fail you.”

“I know you won’t,” I said, offering a brief smile before turning away.

As soon as she was gone, I let out a long sigh. Just as I was about to rest my back on my chair, I heard the doors by the west wing creak o

Lucy's povMy chest felt heavy, far heavier than it had any right to be. My eyes stung, burning with unshed tears, and my skin felt tight, like it could crack open at any moment. I could barely breathe through the emotions swirling inside me. This day, this day I had imagined for years, was supposed to be a moment of joy, pride, and completion. I had lived my whole life waiting to hold my daughter in my arms on her awakening, to feel the powerful bond renew between mother and child. But while I was busy waiting, while I was busy preparing, she had hidden it from me.Hidden her awakening. Hidden this monumental moment that should have been shared, celebrated, and cherished together. For who knows how long she had carried this secret? And for what? Pride? Fear? Distrust? My mind raced and spiraled into every possibility. Each one more painful than the last. The tears finally brimmed over, clouding my vision completely. I wiped at them hastily, barely registering my surroundings, and tha

Rosa’s povMy mother walked me back to my room and left almost immediately. I sat by the window, hugging my knees to my chest as the wind danced through the sheer curtains. The sky was pale and empty, just like my chest. Then I spotted Jasmine outside. She walked past the southern hedges, clutching a small parcel to her chest. Her eyes scanned the manor like she was unsure she belonged here. I knew that walk. I knew that look. Guilt mixed with hope.I didn’t move. I’d been waiting for her. Not because I wanted to see her, but because I wanted to make sure she couldn’t see me.“Miss Rosa said no visitors today,” Miriam’s voice echoed from below. I didn’t need to strain my ears anymore. Everything was clear ever since my wolf awakened. “But I just want to talk,” Jasmine pleaded, her voice thin and tired.“She said no visitors. I’m sorry.” Miriam insisted firmly. There was silence.Jasmine stood still for a moment. I saw the way her shoulders slumped, how her fingers tightened around

Shaun’s POVI returned to my study and quickly drafted another letter. This time, I'll make sure Seth gets the letter in his hands. The letter was sealed with my crest, the ink still drying under the weight of my thumb. I handed it to Jax with more hope than I dared to admit.“Make sure it reaches him personally,” I said, locking eyes with him. “No messengers. No relays. You deliver it into his hands.”Jax nodded, slipping the parcel into his satchel. “I understand, Alpha.”“It’s a three-day journey. Leave now. No delays, no distractions. And Jax…”He turned, already halfway to the door.“Stay safe,” I added quietly. He gave a firm nod and left the room.As the door closed behind him, I looked down at the empty space in my study. Silence was creeping in again. But there were louder things than silence, things like the worry pressing into my chest and the fury curled like a sleeping beast in the back of my throat.Lucy stepped in without knocking, as she always did. Her eyes met mine.

Shaun's pov Sleep had barely touched my eyes for the last few weeks, and I had spent more time in my study than I had in my chambers. The chair by the fireplace had become my resting place, though rest never came. I stood by my window, staring as the sun climbed into the sky, casting golden streaks that slowly melted into orange across the clouds. It was a new day, but it didn’t feel like one.My door creaked open, and the sound so gentle I might have missed it had I not trained myself to hear everything. Soft footsteps padded in, and I didn’t need to look to know who they belonged to. Lucy. Her scent filled the room before she did, jasmine and ash, like home and fire. She slipped her arm through mine without a word.“Good morning, my lady,” I muttered, my voice dry from disuse.“Good morning, my love.” Her voice had changed. It had a softness to it still, but underneath, it trembled, strained like a violin string stretched too tight. There was pain in it, a quiet ache she had tried t

Writer’s POVWith Rosa gone, Jasmine was left alone in the school where she wandered into the library, ignoring the people there and walked down to drop the book she had borrowed. As she exited the library, her arms wrapped around her backpack as she made her way toward her next class. She barely saw Fidelia until it was too late."Hey there, Jasmine," Fidelia purred, her voice smooth like silk soaked in poison.Jasmine stiffened. “Fidelia.”Fidelia offered a mock smile, stepping directly into her path. “Don’t worry, I’m not here to throw punches. I’m actually curious about something.”Jasmine blinked, already wary.Fidelia leaned in, her voice low. “How can you call yourself Rosa’s friend?”Jasmine’s brow furrowed. “What are you talking about?”“She’s been getting humiliated nearly every day. Pushed around. Tripped. Laughed at. Half the school’s in on the joke, and you, you just stand there, watching.” Fidelia’s eyes sparkled with false innocence. “You’re always quiet when she gets s
