Three minutes after I saw the Instagram post, a text from Gabriel popped up.

“I got protection charms for you two at a local church out here. See you soon.”

I wiped my tears and typed with a trembling thumb.

“Why are you with Tiana?”

Silence stretched for a long time before he requested a FaceTime call.

But it wasn't Gabriel's face on the screen.

Tiana beamed back at me, glowing.

"Hey, Daniella! You saw our pictures, right? Don't they look amazing?"

"The second Gabriel texted me, I caught the fastest train out here," she rambled cheerfully. "He's your boyfriend, after all. Of course I had to help you look out for him!"

Gabriel stepped into the frame, looking at her with pure fondness.

"Yeah, yeah. Thanks to our busy bee for flying all the way out from New York."

A sharp pain pierced my chest, radiating through my entire body.

I demanded, "Gabriel, why did you get down on one knee for someone else? I'm your girlfriend!"

Tiana froze, turning to him with a helpless whine. "Oh, see? I told you she would make a scene."

Gabriel frowned, his voice dripping with impatience.

"A photo at the highest peak has to look romantic, Daniella. As my girlfriend, you didn't even come with me.

“You should be reflecting on your own shortcomings instead of throwing a tantrum."

For the last ten years, I had followed him across every sky and ocean in the world.

I had pushed through agonizing period cramps just to fulfill his vision of 'eternal romance.'

I had walked away from a stable career just to backpack across the globe with him on a dime.

But now I was pregnant.

I couldn't risk our miracle baby. I had skipped out only once, and he called it a tantrum.

I wanted to throw all my sacrifices in his face, but before I could speak, Tiana let out a bright laugh.

"Don't say that, Gabriel. Daniella is carrying the literal symbol of your love, after all."

Gabriel scoffed.

"Every woman gets pregnant. I've never seen anyone act as fragile as her. I wish you were my girlfriend instead..."

He pinched Tiana's cheek, his eyes full of warmth.

"Back in high school, you were willing to skip the SATs just to chase the Northern Lights with me."

Tiana blushed, playfully swatting his hand away.

On my side of the screen, it felt like being struck by lightning.

The year of the SATs, Gabriel and Tiana had completely vanished.

No one knew where they went.

I had stayed up all night searching for them, so sick with worry that I ruined my own exams.

While I was panicking and crying, they were stargazing together.

"I'd never be your girlfriend," Tiana teased. "You have Daniella now. Dreams are just dreams; this is reality."

Gabriel smiled, gently tucking a stray hair behind her ear.

"Then just be my dream girl for the rest of my life."

They spoke their sweet, intimate words without a single care that I, his actual girlfriend, was listening to every word.

When the call ended, I collapsed onto the floor.

A sharp cramp flared in my stomach, as if warning me not to leave him.

But I could no longer find a single reason to stay.

After a long time, I gritted my teeth, reached for my phone, and texted Gabriel:

“If you still want this baby, be back within three days. Otherwise, we’re done.”

The stranger my snowball accidentally hit turned out to be Tiana. She greeted me cheerfully, acting as if there was absolutely no bad blood between us. I glanced past her and noticed the man standing by her side wasn't Gabriel."I thought you were in love with Gabriel," I couldn't help but ask.Tiana let out a bright laugh. "I liked him a lot back then. After all, guys who will drop everything to chase the Northern Lights are hard to find. But..." She leaned in close, whispering conspiratorially, "This guy next to me is an astrophysicist. He promised to name a newly discovered asteroid after me. “You know me, it’s just too romantic to pass up."She was exactly like Gabriel. It turned out she only ever loved the thrill of romance, too. Some people really were willing to sacrifice everything for a fleeting fantasy. But I was done with that life.It was funny how things worked out. Saying goodbye to the girl who used to be Tiana brought me nothing but absolute relief.

I never expected Drake to start pursuing me.Knowing I was completely done with grand gestures, he didn't send me giant bouquets of roses or drag me out to chase sunrises. Instead, he simply showed up outside my building every morning to hand me a warm breakfast. He quietly left an umbrella at my studio on rainy days. Whenever we met to discuss his house, he remembered every single one of my food allergies.Slowly but surely, his steady, quiet affection began to chip away at my walls. So when Drake suggested we climb Mount Denali together, I didn't shut him down immediately. I just stared at him, hesitating.Drake looked back at me with pure warmth. "I know your past relationship left you with deep scars out here. “I just want to replace those painful memories with beautiful new ones. The paths you chose and the love you gave weren't mistakes, Daniella. “You just gave them to someone who didn't deserve you."I agreed to go.Standing at the snowy peak, walking the very

In a cozy cafe across the state, I sat across from my new client.Drake Palmer was staring at my blueprints, completely amazed. "This is stunning, Daniella. It’s exactly what I pictured for my dream home."He looked up, a hint of regret in his eyes. "If you had joined the firm sooner, you would probably be the most famous interior designer in the country by now."I smiled softly. "Who knows? Maybe if I started earlier, I would have burned out by now."All those years traveling the world hadn't been entirely wasted. I had gathered endless inspiration from different cultures and landscapes. What I once lost because of Gabriel, I was now using to rebuild my life."Well, I'm putting my house entirely in your hands," Drake said with a warm smile, placing the front door keys into my palm. Before I could even close my fingers around them, a figure suddenly rushed toward our table."Daniella!"Gabriel stood there, looking completely unkempt. His beard was overgrown, and his h

When Gabriel got home, he saw a team of movers loading up a truck with dozens of taped boxes.‘I knew it. She still wanted to go on the trip with me,’ he thought, a smug smile tugging at his lips. ‘I guess I can swallow my pride and help her pack. ‘It’s not like she can do heavy lifting right now anyway.’But the moment he stepped through the front door, he froze. The house was entirely gutted.Everything that had absolutely nothing to do with a vacation was gone. He ran through the rooms to check. My clothes in the closet, my toothbrush in the bathroom, even the random souvenirs I had collected from all over the world were missing. This didn't look like packing for a trip. It looked like a total erasure.Panic suddenly flared in his chest. Gabriel sprinted back downstairs and cut off one of the movers before the truck could pull away."Yeah, a lady named Daniella Ryker hired us," the mover replied smoothly. "We're clearing out the whole place. Everything goes.""Moving o

When I opened my eyes again, all I saw was a blinding, clinical white. The pungent smell of bleach hit my nose. I struggled to lift my hand, only to find my skin bruised and pierced with IV needles."Look at this! In ten days, there's going to be a once-in-a-lifetime Leonid meteor shower!""Can we go see it together? Please?"It was Tiana. She was sitting right next to Gabriel, leaning in close to show him her phone. The two of them were practically pressed together right in front of my hospital bed. Neither of them noticed I was awake.Gabriel hesitated for a second, but under Tiana’s expectant gaze, he let out a helpless, indulgent sigh. "Well, I definitely can't miss out on something that romantic."Tiana let out a triumphant giggle. "I knew you’d love it! I already booked the tickets."Gabriel playfully tapped the tip of her nose. "Smart girl."It wasn't until the doctor walked in to check on me that they finally realized I had regained consciousness."My baby..

Gabriel didn’t go find Tiana. Instead, he went to a bar alone and got completely wasted. When the bartender called me, I could hear him muttering to himself in the background."Ma'am, this gentleman has you saved in his phone as 'Wifey.' Can you come pick him up?" the bartender asked.I hesitated. "Is he... alone? Is there no girl next to him?""You're Miss Ryker, right?" The bartender quickly confirmed, his voice warm with a smile. "He’s completely alone, and he keeps calling your name. It's normal for couples to fight, but it's obvious this guy loves you a lot."I forced a faint smile, gripped my keys, and headed out. When I arrived at the lounge, I spotted Gabriel instantly. He was floating face down, completely motionless, in the middle of the bar's indoor pool. I called his name several times, but he didn't move.Even though he had broken my heart so many times, panic instantly seized me.I dove into the water and swam to his side to pull him up. But the moment
