Chapter twelve.

The drive to the restaurant was a long one, but the uncomfortable silence we shared made it seem even longer. I wanted to say something to get rid of this deafening silence that consumed the entire car but I was terrible at

starting conversations. Neither of us said a word till we got there and when we walked in, I bumped into someone  someone I didn't expect to see.

"Melanie!" I said in surprise and she smiled and came to hug me.

"Oh my saviour, it's so good to see you." She moved back but didn't let go of my hand. "Henry, this is hazel. The girl I was telling you about."

"Hazel" he said as he looked at me from my head to my toe then up again but his gaze lingered on my body long enough to make me feel slightly uncomfortable. He bent so we were on the same level and asked "You, haven't we met before?"

"No, I don't think so."I avoided his gaze and focused my attention on a table ahead.
