What am I supposed to tell her, the truth or a lie?
If I told her the truth, would she run away?
The fear that we’d never have her the way we wanted to kept me silent. She asked me if I’d ever had sex before and the answer was no. I knew perfectly well what she meant by sex since I was no stranger to it, but we just had a different name for it.
“Ezra?”
Vanya’s soft voice pulled me away from my thoughts. I swallowed and glanced over her shoulder, searching for a place to set her down so she wouldn’t feel my arousal.
“No,” I told her after a few more silent debates. “I’ve never had sex before.”
Her sharp breath had my eyes snapping back to hers. Vanya’s eyes were wide open and filled with shock.
My eyes dropped to her mouth. I caught sight of her pink tongue seconds before she slammed her mouth shut.
“You’re a virgin?”
Now where have I heard that word before?
My hold on her waist tightened when she slipped a little lower. A few more inches and her ass would come in contact with my aching shaft. Spinning around, I took careful steps towards the waterfall.
A few feet to the left, there were different sized, smooth rocks. The spray of the waterfall might be a problem, but since we were both already wet, it didn’t really matter.
Vanya’s eyes narrowed when I lowered her onto a rock and took a step back. As her legs dropped, so did her eyes.
I followed her gaze and winced. The water reached up to my groin which left my hardness visible to her eyes.
“Wow.”
Colour flooded my cheeks.
“So the women weren’t lying,” she muttered.
I frowned at her. “Women?”
Vanya shook her head and gave me a small smile. I tensed when she suddenly reached out and placed her palms against my chest. She did the exact opposite of what I expected her to do. Her hands slowly slipped lower.
I shuddered and allowed my eyes to flutter closed when her short nails scraped against my skin.
“You never answered my question.”
Swallowing, I tried to focus, but it was hard to do, especially when her fingers brushed against my nipples.
“A virgin is someone who has never had sex,” I said. “I told you that I’ve never had sex before. So yes, I am what you humans call—a virgin.”
“How?” she questioned. “I mean, you’re not human. You’re a cat-shifter. Do—”
“I know what sex is, Vanya,” I growled. “We call it breeding. I’ve seen Devrim breed with our females before. I’ve also watched videos.”
“Videos?”
I nodded. My hands shot out to grab her wrist so her hands couldn’t slip lower. “Vanya—”
“I really want to kiss you,” she interrupted me. “May I?”
I licked my lips and glanced around. Nervousness made me feel shaky. The thought of her lips on mine… I swallowed the purr that threatened to escape.
“I—”
My words were cut off when Vanya leaned forward and closed the space between us.
The first brush of her lips against mine stole what little air I had left in my lungs. I wanted to reach out and pull her against me, but I held still. I was scared of hurting her, and I was scared that I might do something wrong.
Vanya’s lips parted before they closed over my bottom lip. So softly, it felt like it was barely touching mine. Her small hands cupped my cheeks and tilted my head slightly to the side as she changed the angle of her head.
I think I died and went to that place the humans called heaven.
My body jerked when her tongue brushed across my lip. I instantly parted them and took a step closer to her.
The purr escaped when our tongues met.
Vanya pulled me even closer and surprised me by wrapping her legs around my hips.
I pulled away and sucked in a breath. Her face was flushed and her lips glistening and swollen.
I should put a stop to this before it got out of hand, but I did the opposite of what I knew I needed to do.
Reaching out, I gripped the back of her neck and pulled her lips towards mine again. Her gasp of surprise was swallowed when my mouth smashed down on hers.
Vanya moaned and slid her arms around my neck. Her legs slid higher up my hips as her body arched against mine.
My skin started to tingle—a clear sign that I was about to shift.
I gently pushed Vanya away and stumbled backwards. A few steps from her and I couldn’t control it any longer.
Bones snapped as they were rearranged and fur sprouted along my skin.
A roar fell from my lips when I hit the shallow water on all fours.
With one last glance at her, I turned and ran for the trees.
I need to get away from her before I hurt her.
He is defenceless. I could easily hurt him. To be honest, I had considered it, but then Devrim’s words flashed through my mind and pulled me out of my disturbing thoughts.Devrim had been right. But it didn’t make me fear Obsidian less.I sat in the chair a few feet from the bed, staring at the door as I waited for Devrim to return. Every passing second that he was away made my mind race with things that could go wrong.Darkness was creeping in on me, and I had no idea how to handle it.A whimper from the bed made my eyes snap over to it.Obsidian was on his stomach, clutching the pillow beneath his head as his big body trembled. The whimpers changed into growls that made my skin break out in goosebumps. The room suddenly fell silent again, but it didn’t last long.Rolling onto his back, Obsidian clutched at the sheets as his whimpers started up again. It got louder and louder.Tears filled my eyes.It sounded like he was in pain. What am I supposed to do? My eyes darted over to the
I think I’m going to pass out. After everything that had happened, I never thought that I would be returning to the cabin. My steps faltered when we reached the front door. Oblivious to my hesitation, Devrim opened the door and entered. As he turned to close it, his eyes locked on me. “Vanya?”When he told me that Obsidian was sick, the concern I felt had me agreeing to go with him, but standing outside the house made me second guess myself.I was about to face the man who had attacked me, the man who haunted my dreams, and not in a good way.Swallowing, I took a step forward, but my muscles tensed, preventing me from moving.“What’s wrong?” Devrim asked as he walked over to me. “You’ve gone pale.”“I…” My words trailed off when movement behind him caught my attention. My knees weakened when a wave of fear hit me. I wasn’t ready to see him yet!Panic hit next.If Devrim hadn’t grabbed hold of my arms, I would have run away.“Rosebud—”“I don’t want to see him,” I blurted.“Please, Va
What are monsters? The imaginary creatures we were sure hid under our beds? Were they the creatures that the authors and filmmakers created? Maybe the stories told to scare us were monsters in their own way? Or maybe the adults who told us those stories were the real monsters?A monster was cruel and evil.A monster was someone who found joy in hurting others. Like those men who hid in the shadows, waiting for a woman or man to come along. A monster was someone who killed without a second thought.I sniffed and reached up to wipe the tears from my cheeks. No matter how much I tried, I couldn’t pull my eyes away from the group of kids in the alley below me. I had spotted them the moment they entered. One of them had pulled out a knife and was busy dissecting a dead animal. Are they monsters? The moment the kid had pulled out the knife, I had thought of Obsidian, and then my mind had trailed to Devrim and Ezra.I hadn’t seen them in weeks. As soon as the doctor had given me a clean bil
“Get the fuck out!” Ezra sneered.I ignored him and made my way over to the bed, but he stepped in front of me and flashed his teeth. I growled at him, but he didn’t even flinch. My eyes narrowed and my fists clenched at my sides.“You’re not allowed in here,” he hissed.“I’m here to talk to Vanya,” I told him.He growled. “She doesn’t want to talk to you.”My eyes shot over his shoulder to her. Her head was bent, her hands clutching at the sheet. I sucked in a deep breath and closed my eyes. The sweet smell of her fear filled the room. She’s scared of me. “Vanya?”Her body jerked as if I’d struck her. Slowly, she raised her head, but she couldn’t look me in the eyes. Her eyes briefly glanced in my direction, then instantly lowered again. What little colour she had in her cheeks when I arrived was now gone.“Get out,” Ezra growled. “She doesn’t want to talk to you.”My eyes snap back to his. “I’m talking to her and not to you.”“She doesn’t want to fucking talk to you! What made you
There was no annoying beeping filling my ears. No machines attached to every possible inch of my body. Everything was silent which made me feel like I was alone, but I knew I wasn’t, because I could feel the comforting weight of another hand on mine.I wasn’t dead.I wasn’t alone. But I was in pain. The constant throbbing of my shoulder and the feeling of fire ants crawling all over my body was pulling me from my sleep.I didn’t want to wake up, because in my dreams, everything was okay. In my dreams, Obsidian was smiling at me, and Ezra had accepted the fact that Obsidian and Devrim loved each other. In my dreams, everything was perfect. But dreams only lasted so long before reality started creeping in and everything crumbled and the real world showed its ugly face.A soft sigh reached my ears, followed by the sound of a chair creaking. The weight on my hand disappeared, making emptiness fill me.I had fucked up and now I was all alone.“I know you’re awake, sugarplum.”I hesitated
It was all part of his plan.If Vanya died, I would be blamed for it. They’d kill me and every other pride member on the island. The humans would be turned against us by Reeves, because he was powerful enough to accomplish that.I knew he had been watching us. I knew he had seen me attacking Vanya.Small cameras had been set up in the corners. The entrance and exit had also been revealed numerous times when he entered and left. The gas he had used to knock me out in order to move me was something they had used in the facility. What was really worrying was the fact that he somehow got hold of the gas in the first place and that he knew so much about me.My eyes darted to one of the small vents I had seen hidden slightly from the human eye. It was how he was planning on knocking me out again.I was just waiting for the right time to strike. I paced back and forth next to Vanya’s unconscious body. Stopping, I licked at the deep wounds on her upper arms. A shudder raced through my body an
