LOGINI'm Caroline Forbes, the omega everyone in GreyHound Pack steps over on their way to somewhere better. My mother's name is a rumor named “whore” and my future is a mop and a dungeon sentence waiting to happen. But, I had one thing keeping me going and his name was Alexander Wolfe. Then the mating ceremony took him too. Now I have no mate, rank, or the royal's mercy since the pack had one tradition for girls like me and it ended with a grave. Then the cold and ruthless Jarek Wolfe, the alpha who had never once looked at me like I was worth his time, stopped them. But at what cost?

In a world where everything natural has something super underneath.
There are witches who see your future when you let them.
There are wolves who shift effortlessly even without the full moon.
There are werewolf hunters who have nine lives…
And there is me — I don't have anything ‘super’ in this supernatural world.
“The mating ceremony would take place soon and since the alpha is just turning 18, I bet his mate would be one of us since we are royal bloods.” Sienna smiled sheepishly with two ladies walking beside her.
“Hey! They just mopped that floor! If you won't bend to do it, don't stress out the person doing it.” Alexander, the only person who sees me as a person.
Sienna threw me facades of stares and I was thankful that kind of stare didn't throw me off my balance.
“She should be thankful the one assigned to the Elroi Lair is dead.”
Elroi Lair is a separate building meant for the royal bloods. Except you're working there or a royal, being there would sentence you to at least a month in the dungeon.
“That doesn't mean you should treat her less of who she is.” Alexander countered.
“If her mother wasn't a whore, I bet she wouldn't have been born. Her mother is the reason why Alpha Jarek resents the low ranks.”
“That was a rumor.” Alexander protested.
“It was the truth. I just hope she bonds with her omega mate just like her and gets the hell out of this place.” Jade rolled her eyes.
As they left, they deliberately stepped on where I had mopped clean.
I have experienced this a lot and best believe, I won't react negatively to it.
“I'm sorry for all that.” Alexander grabbed the napkin on the table while he went down on his knees to clean where Sienna and her gangs had stepped on. “You know since we are all turning 18, I bet you'd see a caring mate no matter who he is or what rank he would be.”
Secretly, I prayed to the moon goddess that Alexander would be my mate.
“I hope so.” I responded, watching him mop the floor rigorously. “Please, let me do it. If your mom sees this or any of the royals, I will be punished for it.”
“No, it is alright, you know I'll always look out for you.”
I wish that statement was really true. But, wickedness lies in the heart of the royals.
The last time Alexander helped me lift a bag, they sent him to neighbouring packs for a peace summit and punished me the entire week.
“I appreciate your kind gestures, Master Alex. Please, let me do my job.”
Still, he didn't listen. “Please! I really don't want any trouble.”
I didn't mean to yell, but the thoughts of being in that dungeon again had traumatized me in ways I can't imagine.
“See! Your mom is coming!”
Instinctively, I grabbed the napkin from him and pushed him farther away from me.
As they entered, I bowed down my head with uneven breathe. I heard their footsteps stop.
“What have you been doing? You should be done with this place!” Mrs. Sarah, Alexander's mother yelled.
“Sienna walked in with d —”
“I will finish it up soon ma'am.” I cut him off with my head still bent.
“Who are you?” I heard a male voice that sounded like Alexander, but I was sure it wasn't Alex —
It is Alpha Jarek… Alexander's twin.
I raised my head slowly to meet his eyes and the memories came rushing in…
I still could remember my mother holding my face inside the burning building and telling me. “Go and save Jarek before we are blown all together.”
I remembered how she pushed me towards his room and I ran as hard as I could.
I held Jarek's arm while telling him everything will be alright. Everything switched when I saw Jarek's father with a silver rod piercing his heart and my mom trying to remove it.
I was young, but I knew silver rods were prohibited in the pack. So, how did it get there?
I watched his life slip away from him and my mom trying her best to keep him alive.
“Go! Go!! Run!” my mother yelled, but I didn't take a step away from where I was — In my mind, I needed to save her — I believed I couldn't live this world without her.
Then I heard Jarek's father’s voice. "Go!"
That was a command my body accepted even though I didn't want to leave.
As soon as we got out, a blast happened that threw Jarek and I forward — I watched the debris fall and I watched my heart break.
Now, I'm standing in front of Jarek and he has no idea of what happened that night. Maybe the rumors were true — Maybe his memories were wiped by the witches.
“You haven't answered my question.” He jolted me back to my senses.
“I'm Caroline. The daughter of —”
“That information is not necessary. Just clean this place up before I throw you in the dungeon.” Lara, Jarek's mother, threatened.
I didn't respond, I just bowed my head until they left. Then I heard her voice. “Follow me! Alexander.”
Alexander hurriedly touched my shoulder. “I'm sorry, I gotta go. I don't want to make things hard for you by rebelling.” He squeezed my shoulder when he said those words.
I looked up to him and smiled while I prayed to the moon goddess to make him my mate at all cost — But I know that kind of prayer was meaningless.
In a matter of time, I was done cleaning. I went back to my room and searched my wardrobe, hoping to find something nice I could wear to the mating ceremony.
But I found none, they are either torn or faded. I heaved a sigh as I sat down on my bed. I ruffled my hair backwards and held still for a while.
Suddenly, I heard a knock on my door. I stood up abruptly and before I could ask who was there — “Hey Caroline.” Alexander whispered under his breath.
I opened the door and immediately he dashed inside holding a box. I watched him grin from ear to ear.
“I got this for you.” He said, opened the box, took out the dress and dropped the box.
His hands held the dress, revealing the well knitted gown — It was a black gown with cold-shoulder cutouts with a deep V-neckline which is made to embody the breasts to reveal the cleavages simultaneously.
“When you wear this, your mate won't be able to resist you in any way.” He said like he had imagined how everything is gonna go.
As much as I would love to have it, the consequences of wearing it surpassed every little butterfly in my belly.
“I can't accept this, Alex. I know it is for one of your cousins. I'm really not in the mood for trouble.” I lamented.
“Hell no, I got this myself for you,” He stopped and stared at the door and someone entered. “See? If they ever question you, he will notify everyone that he got it for you. They won't question that.”
I blinked and stayed quiet…
The silence was deafening that it made Alexander weary of what my answer would be. “What's your say?” He asked.
I stared at the dress for a longer time than usual. Just by analyzing with the eyes, I knew the dress would be quite expensive.
I loved the dress, but I could imagine how Sienna and her cliques would react to it. To be honest, I'm not in for a public ridicule about the dress I am wearing.
“Alex?” I called out.
“Yes?”
“I —” I rubbed my palm against my temple, then drew my hair to the back while squeezing it hard.
Caroline's POVJarek's question was sitting pretty well within me till I found my voice again.“I don't know what you mean.” I responded, pulling the sheet tighter around me and I had to avoid the question even more. “Is there something you need from me?”He looked at me for a moment longer and it made me uncomfortable. Then he said, “No,” He turned around and walked back down the corridor without another word.He moved slowly down the hall. He was too composed for someone who just knocked on my door in the middle of the night and asked me something that had no clean answer I could give.I watched him until he was out of sight…I stood in the open doorway, staring at an empty space and convincing myself that what I strangely felt with Jarek was just residuals of what had just happened with Alex — that my body was confused and my emotions were at an all-time-high — That was it and nothing more.I closed the door and turned back into the room. “Alex? He is gone.” I whispered, staring at
Caroline's POV“Wait here until everyone has left.” Jarek said without staring at me. I watched as his eyes were already moving to the people who were in the courtyard.I nodded, but he already turned away so Alexander caught my eye from where he stood beside his brother and I gave him a small nod, signifying that I'm okay.He looked back at me. I could sense fear in his eyes like a life without me flashed in his memory.I looked away before anyone noticed the exchange…I watched Alex lean closer to Jarek and said something quietly and whatever that was, it didn't land well because Alexander frowned with something close to frustration while Jarek's demeanor didn't change at all, not even slightly. After a moment, Alexander straightened and said nothing more…***The courtyard emptied slowly the way crowds left the racing field after the last competitive race. They all left in clusters and took the noise with them until eventually the lanterns were burning over an empty space.“Let's g
Caroline's POVMy eyes wandered to the stranger in my bedroom, then at the dress, then at Alex.“Fine. I'll wear it.” I agreed.Alex turned his hand into fist as he blew the empty air. “Yes!”I couldn't help but smile as I took the dress away from him. “Thank you.” I said. “Thank you for everything you have done for me.”He didn't respond, instead he stared at me with that grin still present on his face. And his next action took me off guard. He walked briskly towards me and planted a kiss on my cheeks and immediately I knew it turned red.“Are you trying to ruin me?!” I asked and I wished I had said it out loud for him to hear, but then his voice distracted me.“I gotta go before my mom starts yelling. You can test the dress and see if it fits.”Before I could reply, he had zoomed off including the stranger in my room.I closed the door behind me as my eyes took in the beauty and elegance of the dress.I removed my tattered clothes one after the other till I was left with just my pan
