I sat on the couch, my head resting on a pillow as I stared at the TV without really seeing it. I felt drained, both physically and emotionally. My mind was foggy, my thoughts a jumbled mess, and my heart heavy. It had been a tough few weeks, and it felt like I was barely holding it together.
Just then, Jason walked in the door, his smile immediately brightening up the room. He had rushed to the main mall to get some things and I knew that he must have gotten my favorite tub of ice cream. He kicked off his shoes and made his way over to the couch, sitting down next to me and wrapping his arm around my shoulders.
"Hey, how are you feeling?" he asked softly.
I shrugged, not quite sure how to put into words the tumultuous storm raging inside me. But before I could even try, Jason spoke up.
