MasukOdessa sat opposite Desmond at the dining table for breakfast. The only sounds that could be heard were the faint connection of their cutleries and plates.
Besides that, there was nothing but silence in the room till Odessa spoke up. “Alpha Devon told me I'm only here to give you an heir.” As she said that, he paused. After a few seconds, he continued like he did not hear what she said, and it annoyed her, but she didn't say a word and just started eating again. “So what do you think about it?” He finally said, making her look up at him with a raised brow. “What do you think about having an heir for me?” “Well, I don't have any bad thoughts towards it.” She replied, sipping from her glass of juice, her gaze focused on him. “But what's in it for me?” Her question shocked him, and for the first time since she arrived, she saw him smirk. “What's in it for you? You're a pawn in Alpha Devon's game, so you're only here so he can get his rewards.” He pointed out, and that made her smile also, and that stunned him. “And you've forgotten, once the pawn reaches the opponent's territory, it has the opportunity to become any of the high-ranked chess pieces.” She reminded him, and this stunned him. “Wow. Quite impressive.” He clapped gently before leaning back into his chair. “I never thought you could impress me, little tigress.” The nickname made her look at him with a cringy expression. “So what's in it for me?” She asked again, and this time he just looked at her for a few minutes before speaking up. “You're the first woman to boldly speak to me. So what do you want?” He asked her, and a smile spread across her face. “Firstly, if I'm able to give you an heir right from what I conceive, we'll get married.” She blurted out, taking him aback for the hundredth time since they started speaking. “Why do you want to get married to me?” He asked her, expecting an answer from her, but instead she ignored him and continued to state her desires. “I also want half of your territory in Blood Gem Pack and just five hundred men.” She completed, leaning back in her seat. “It's really bold of you to ask all these things from me, thinking I'll give them to you.” He replied. His smile had completely disappeared from his face, but on the inside, he was still intrigued. “Good. You pushed it,” Aria said, her tone evident she wasn't pleased with Desmond's change of expression. But Odessa didn't mind at all and continued to speak. “You said it yourself. I'm the first woman to boldly request something from you. That means I'm the only woman who was even bold enough to volunteer to come over to you instead of her stepsister.” “Despite knowing it's a death wish due to your reputation, you'll never find another like me, and you need an heir.” She pointed out, leaning back into her chair the same way he did. “This woman is an interesting one,” Des said in excitement. “I can't wait to see what else she'll demand for with that advantage.” “Shut up, Des.” He shot at his wolf, his gaze still focused on Odessa. “So you think I need you as much as you want to bleed me of my property. Interesting.” “You could have just given me anything you thought of instead of asking me to choose.” She replied with her hands out. “Well, since it's my word, when should we get married?” He asked her, leaning forward with a raised brow. “And what kind of wedding do you want?” She was stunned by his question. She didn't expect him to know that from the start, and that he'd actually consider doing that from the beginning. “What's wrong? You're surprised I answered your request?” “Is it because I know we'll end up getting a separation, and the amount of things I'll give you for separation is almost half of my personal wealth?” “No need to worry about that.” He replied as he pushed himself up, walking out of the kitchen, leaving her speechless. “He seriously doesn't mean it.” Odessa said, turning her head to look in the direction he had just disappeared to. “That doesn't look like he's joking to me,” Aria pointed out. And they managed to complete their breakfast before returning to the room to strategize. “My Alpha, you asked me to prepare a ceremony team.” George rushed into his office, interrupting Desmond, who looked up with a raised brow. “I'm sorry, but I didn't get your message.” “Well, my Alpha, I asked you to prepare the ceremony team to prepare for my marriage to Odessa and send out invitations.” Desmond repeated himself. “Do you have a problem with that?” “No, not at all, my Alpha.” “I'll do as you say.” George bowed before walking out of the office. “Does he think we're incapable of marrying a woman?” Des gasped in shock. “Such insolence.” “Relax, man. Everyone would have the same expression as him once they realize I'm getting married.” Desmond said, a smirk on his face. There was a connection he was feeling towards Odessa, and that connection made him intrigued by her no matter what she was doing. “It'll also be nice to have a wife who doesn't just want the wealth for fancy clothes and all.” “Do you know why she asked for that?” Des asked. And Desmond shook his head negatively. He didn't know what she was up to, but since she asked for a territory, he knew she wanted a pack. He had to let her admit it herself because owning a pack isn't easy at all. “She would be a great pack leader if she owned a pack.” Des hyped her up. Desmond didn't know what he was up to because Des rarely praised anything. Now he was praising the girl. “She's just full of surprises, don't you think, buddy?” Desmond asked with a calm smile. George couldn't believe his Alpha was actually planning on getting married. He had expected Odessa to be just like the rest and run from him after a few weeks or days. But seeing him wanting to marry her, it must be because he saw something in her that intrigued him to that extent of marriage. “Maybe he's just joking about accepting the marriage proposal.” Aria thought as Odessa paced back and forth in the room, which she had been doing since they arrived from the breakfast table. “But does that mean it's a win-win for us if he actually agrees to that?” “I think this is a trap. Alpha Desmond isn't the kind of Alpha you would just trust unless you have a very confident Plan B.” Odessa replied. And before she could say another word, there was a knock on the door. No one dared to come up to the floor except Desmond and George. And Desmond would never knock. It was definitely George. She walked over to the door, and as she pulled it open, she was right. George was standing on the other side of the door with a lady dressed to perfection behind him. “My lady.” They both bowed respectfully, and she nodded before passing glances between the two of them. “How may I help you both this morning?” She asked with a raised brow, and George replied to her instantly. “This is Cassie, my lady. She will be in charge of everything you would like to have and wear during the marriage ceremony.” George said, and Odessa tried hiding her shocked expression as he said that. So Desmond wasn't joking when he responded to her request. “Are you sure Alpha ordered this?” Odessa asked, asking the same question George had in his mind. “I didn't really expect him to take me seriously.” “Well, my lady, invitations have been sent out, and everyone in the pack and pack house has been notified that you and the Alpha will be getting married.” “Cassie will help you with all the planning needed.” “At your service, my lady.” Cassie bowed respectfully. “This is surreal.” Aria laughed. “We're getting married.”There was silence between the two as Odessa wiped off the wounds on his hands. It was like he got into a battle with some animals, and he wasn't healing on time. She quietly cleaned them, expecting him to tell her where he got the wounds from, but they both kept mute. “So you won't tell me what caused these bruises and wounds?” She said to him, making him look at her. But he buried his head, looking down at the floor. “Desmond,” she called, and he slowly looked up at her. “Answer me, will you?” “You'll just leave like the rest of them if I tell you.” He replied calmly, and at the same time, anger hinted in his tone. “They haven't even learned who I am, and they all ran from me. How am I sure you won't do the same when you find out?” “Who's telling you that nonsense?” She looked at him with a raised brow and a frown. “Do I look like someone who will judge you for anything?” “But you do look like someone who can beat me up for anything.” He mumbled, and for the first time
After the stressful day at the wedding hall, Odessa was finally able to go back to the room. Desmond was still down, talking to some people. And he had asked her to go take some rest if she wanted to. Odessa was stunned to see the two beds in the room gone and now replaced by a king-sized bed, which looked like it had just been neatly set. “Looks like you've really found your way deep into his heart for him to pick up you two sleeping together after marriage and not apart,” Aria chuckled teasingly. “Every husband and wife sleeps in the same bed. He'll be really dumb not to let that happen.” Odessa rolled her eyes as she headed into the bathroom, pulling off her clothes as she could. “Says the one who just enjoyed his kiss and couldn't deny it.” Aria teased again, and Odessa just let out a sigh of defeat. This would never be the end of the discussion of that kiss. “Okay, that's enough, Aria. It's embarrassing enough.” As she stepped out of the bathroom after cleaning up, sh
Odessa stood in front of the large floor-to-ceiling mirror in the main living room on their floor, not believing the day they had picked for the wedding had arrived. She still thought this was all a sarcastic comment till she saw the guests start arriving since the previous day. “Is this tight enough, my lady?” the seamstress asked her. She was helping Odessa into her red dress, which was the tradition of the pack. Any woman who was to be married to her husband-to-be would wear the red dress. “Or do you want me to—” “I'm going to choke. Please loosen it a little,” Odessa said, her voice just above a whisper, and the seamstress immediately did as she was asked. “That's much better.” Odessa sighed before looking at her reflection in the mirror. The dress was adorned with thousands of crystals, and the dress was very light and fitted her shape perfectly. Her hair was up in a majestic bun with red crystals and jewels hung in her hair. She looked more elegant than she usually did

A scream escaped her lips as she saw that, and the lights were immediately flicked on. Desmond was standing there at the kitchen island, staring at her with a raised brow. “What were you so scared about?” he asked her, looking down at her fingers, which were being twisted in front of her. “I'm sorry. I was scared.” She let out a sigh of relief before looking around the kitchen, which looked beautiful. The kitchen island was in the middle of the room, a part of the wall glass from wall to ceiling, overlooking the forest behind the pack house. Although it was still raining outside, the outside was brightly lit with lamps all around. “If you're hungry, you can just make yourself something to eat.” He was oddly calm from the rumors she had heard about him. She stared right at him and didn't move from the spot she was, and this made him look in her direction again. “I would kill you on the spot if I wanted to kill you without you knowing, but it'll only be useless to me,” he said.
Odessa walked into the pack house, which was strangely bigger on the outside than it was on the inside. It looked so beautiful. And she wondered how they allowed this many people in the pack house. “The ground floor is always very busy. Please follow me, my lady.” George said, gesturing towards the large stairs, which were the only part those in the pack house weren't walking through. “The pack house is open to just an amount of people. Most of them live in the pack house's spare apartments in the pack compound,” George explained as he led her up the next floor. “This is the important nobles' floor.” He said, turning to take her up the next flight of stairs leading to the next floor, which was the Delta's. The visit then was that of the Beta before reaching the floor where he told her all Alpha duties took place. “You won't see anyone on this floor unless ordered by the Alpha,” he explained before taking
