LOGINCole POV
After waiting impatiently for our Alpha Carson and Luna Marly, it was agreed we would head off to the gala rather than waiting for them. We parked our vehicles on the other side of the pack grounds as the main parking area was already full. We walked towards the gala, as I heard the buzz of excitement among our pack members.
“I smell something,” I heard from different people. I smiled as I heard my wolf yawn, waking up. “She is here,” he said, before laying his head down on his front paws. He was as eager to meet his mate, as I was to meet mine. My pace quickened as the pack followed me towards the entrance.
There I caught the scent of jasmine filling my senses. I quickly greeted the host Alpha and Luna before walking into the hall and searching for someone who would be searching for me. I walked slowly through the hall, finding the scent getting stronger towards the back of the dancefloor.
I stopped in front of a door. Tapping lightly, I opened it and was overwhelmed with the scent of my mate. I was also overwhelmed with the scent of fear. I quickly scanned the room but saw nothing and nobody there. I shut the door and turned almost running into a slob of an Alpha.
“What are you searching for, Beta?” the Alpha asked with a smirk. “Just making sure none of my pack members were lost,” I replied, as I moved to walk around him. “Whatever you were searching for, Beta, just forget about it,” the Alpha cautioned as he waddled away.
I watched him for a moment, finding the threat a bit weird, but had other more important things to do. Like finding my mate, I thought with a soft smile. I walked back around the dancefloor tracking the scent that took me to the front door again. As I reached it from a different direction, I found the scent stronger.
I felt excitement churning in my stomach as I followed the scent outside. Perhaps my mate needed a break or was disappointed that she had not scented me yet. As I walked around, Carson and Marly came up to me, “Any luck?” Carson asked as he held Marly’s hand.
“I can scent her, but have not found her yet,” I shared, frustration starting to show in my terse reply. “Let’s ask the Alpha if he has any suggestions,” Carson suggested as he nudged me back into the hall. The Alpha was quick to offer his help understanding how important it was for ranking pack members to find their mates.
The Alpha offered someone from his pack who could take me around to try and track her down. I thanked him and the young warrior who had volunteered, before we headed off in search of my mate.
When I got back outside, my wolf took over immediately. He led us to the pack house. I could detect my mate’s scent a bit stronger, but it was clear that the individual had not been here recently. The jasmine scent was mingling with other scents which was confusing my wolf.
We walked into the pack house, and I was hit by the powerful scents of the Alpha and Luna. Clearly this was their domain, and it was difficult to pick up any scents. Clearly if my mate had been here, they were no longer present. I growled in frustration, when the warrior suggested one last option.
“We could go to where the cars are parked. You might detect her scent there?” he suggested. “Excellent idea,” I replied, as we took off from the pack house and went towards the parking area. It took us a few minutes to get there, but when we did, I once again picked up the faint scent of my mate.
I frowned, as I also picked up a stronger scent of fear. I knew she had been here but now she was gone. Why? Why would she leave and why would she be fearful? Had she detected me and been fearful? Surely not, I would never harm my mate. I hoped she would know that.
Why would she come here and leave so quickly, if she had scented me. She cannot have scented me. Was she safe? I knew I needed to find her. It was the second time I had scented fear while scenting her. My wolf had a sense something was wrong, and I always trusted his instincts.
Whoever you are, I am coming for you, mate. I will find you and protect you. I promise.
Jessica POV It is just over six months since we had Oliver. I could not have imagined my life being this good less than a year ago. To find Cole, and then to have our babies was something beyond my wildest dreams. We still had rogue attacks, but everything else had settled down. We knew there was always a strong possibility that evil was lurking out there; however, we also knew we needed to focus on living our lives. The boys were growing fast. Both are showing strong leadership skills already with both boys knowing exactly what they want. Marly had her pup a couple of months ago. She had another baby girl. She was ecstatic; Carson is worried about the girls and their teenage years. Of course, now Marly is plotting that her girls will be mated to my boys. She keeps us entertained with her plotting. Cole, the boys and I are on our way to the Kingdom. Julia is announcing her engagement to a
Jessica POV Cole clenched my hand as we listened to the loud noise and then the sweet sound of our pup crying out. Everyone in the room started to laugh in relief as our pup demonstrated they had a strong set of lungs. Tears were rolling down my cheeks as Cole leaned down and kissed my forehead. The nurse came over smiling at us, “Here is your pup,” she said, passing the baby to Cole. He was familiar with holding babies, and he quickly took hold of the pup. “What is it?” I asked, smiling at Cole. The nurse just smiled as she walked away. Everyone had known we wanted the sex to be a surprise. They had not wrapped the baby in a pink or blue blanket, so Cole had to unwrap the pup who was staring up at their daddy. I could see the pale silver eyes our pup had. I was already in love with their perfect nose, perfect mouth, perfect ears, perfect bit of hair … just everything was perfect. As Cole
Jessica POV It had been three and a half months of ups and downs. I had been put on bed rest countless times. Malcolm had started daycare half days while I was resting. I was at the point where I could no longer pick him up. Often Cole would place him in the bed beside me, and we would snuggle and read stories and color together. I hated that I was limited on what I could do with him, but everybody assured me he was a happy, loved little boy and he knew it. I had been experiencing back pain lately. The doctor had advised us that was normal and it would likely mean that the birth would give me more back pain than anything else. As we got closer to the delivery date, I got more excited. Excited at finally meeting our baby. We had stayed strong, even with Marly’s trying to entice to find out what we were having. We did not want to know what the pup was before it was born. Eventually Marly let it go, but she was se
Jessica POV I tightened my hold on Cole’s hand. I could not comprehend what could be wrong. How could anything be wrong? We had our baby, Malcolm; we had each other, and we had survived the attacks. I watched as the doctor moved closer and she sat on the edge of my bed. “There is good news and not so good news,” she stated. “Just say it,” Cole spit out. He was holding on just as tightly as I was and was getting frustrated waiting. “The good news is you are pregnant,” she said giving us a moment to process what she had said. “What?” I whispered. “I thought it was going to be difficult to get pregnant?” Cole questioned. I was afraid to look at him, afraid to see the excitement or concern. “What is the bad news?” I asked, seeking clarification. “The concerning news is that with your background health challenges, you will be considered a high-risk pregnancy,” she shared. “I am sorry, but I d
Cole POV I sat here once again, terrified about what was happening with Jessica. She had been fine this morning. When Julia screamed for help, my heart had dropped out of my body. I raced upstairs to find her passed out on the couch. I could not wake her and immediately raced out of the room, taking her to the pack hospital. The medical team was waiting as I had mind-linked them that I needed them to be ready. They rushed forward with the gurney and raced off ahead of me. I went into the room with them; nobody tried to stop me. By now, they knew I would only accept being with my mate. “Do you know what happened?” the doctor asked me. “I only know she was fine one minute and passed out the next,” I stated. I appreciated that Julia had been with Jessica, otherwise, she would have been there for hours. Fortunately, Julia also agreed to stay behind with Malcolm. “I will run some blood tests, a
Jessica POV It had been three months since we had adopted baby Malcolm. He had quickly become the focus of our universe. I would never have believed how complete I would feel once we had a pup, but Malcolm has proven that to be true every day. I would be eternally grateful to his parents for their sacrifice in protecting the Full Moon Pack. I prayed that his parents were watching over him and were assured that he was loved. He was a happy baby, always smiling and it would be rare to see him with tears in his eyes. Cole loved taking him everywhere. He was a hands-on daddy. We never introduced Malcolm as our adopted baby – he was ours from day one. After all the attacks and the chaos, we had endured, we have finally had the chance to settle into a regular life. Some might call it mundane but after everything we had been through, we would call it a blessing. There were still rogue attacks, and there were conflicts
