CHAPTER 3

MEADOW POV

I suddenly couldn't breathe as I stared at Conri, he looked absolutely different, more stunning and handsome than ever.

My wolf danced at the back of my head trying to claw its way to the front and take control.

Mate

Mate

Mate!

She kept chanting in my head like I wasn't staring at his figure right before me. But I can't act out yet, these vampires, I must be careful. I tried to calm my wolf, Aliya, so she would understand

His scent hit me hard, even though it was a bit different the usual scent of lavender had changed but at least his sandalwool scent remained. Though this new scent drove me crazy, I couldn't quite put my finger on what he smelt like but it was heavenly and familiar?

The black shirt he wore was a perfect fit, two or three buttons were opened exposing his chest. His black hair was perfectly arranged, with a few strands falling into his eyes. He was perfect without any flaws, he was gorgeous.

I smiled the first real smile since I got here, this was Conri, right in front of me. I immediately hugged him. The sudden reaction made him take a step back.

“Conri,” I said through tears as I pulled back a bit, “What are you doing here? How did you…?”

His face scrunched up, annoyance written on his face. “What did you just call me?” His voice was cold enough to freeze the air.

Wasn't he happy to see me?

“Conri..” I tried again, still confused, but this time I stretched my hands to touch his face.

He grabbed my hand with a firm grip. “If you lay your fingers on me, you won't have any fingers left.” He said in the deadliest tone making fear creep up my skin.

“Did you hit her head?” he asked, looking around. “I told you not to touch my properties.”

Drew the man that brought me here was immediately on his knees face down, I could tell he was terrified.

“No, no, your majesty. I didn't touch her.”

He immediately turned his attention to me, he leaned down slightly. This made my heart skip a beat. He tilted his head to the side to study me.

“Conri…don't you remember me?” My voice broke.

He dropped my hands violently. “Who the fuck is conri? Is she sick?” There was frustration in his tone.

“You are Conri.” I exhaled and continued, “Listen, you…you don't live here you're not a master or whatever…These vampires, they…they did this, they must have brainwashed you into believing it.” I said, trying to convince him.

What have they done to mate? Aliya asked in my head, I completely shut her off as I tried to understand the situation myself.

I was so relieved that Conri was alive and talking to me. I didn't want to think of how any of these made sense right now, until we successfully got out of here.

Conri stood back up with a straight face, “She lacks manners, take her where she can….

I shook my head vigorously, “No, no, I'm not going anywhere…I…I need you to listen….

Elexa interrupted me as she took a step forward “You don't interrupt to …”

“No, you…I wasn't speaking to you.” I said to her as I turned my attention back to Conri with a smile, “We…we need to get out of here, I'll explain everything to you.” I said as I tried to pull him but he was so strong that he was still rooted in a place, how did he do that?

Conri is never like this, I'm over thinking this. He’s under some kind of vampire spell.

“Do you know who I am?”

“Yes I do and you're not some vampire, you…you are the alpha king of the blackwood pack.”

His face suddenly hardened, his brows furrowed, “Alpha king?” A look of disgust crosses his face, “You compare me to a filthy mutt? he asked, taking a few steps away from me.

“Please, listen to me…” I tried to reach for him.

I was cut off by a sudden noise and I realized that everyone was murmuring looking anywhere but at us. Why…why were they acting like that? I only told the truth.

I shook my head, not wanting to get distracted.

“Conri,” I said softly with a smile, finally I caught his hand, instead of the normal warm feeling that I usually get when I hold him, it was like I was holding a block of ice.

Why was his skin cold as ice?

“What did they….”

“Okay, that's enough!” Conri barked, pulling his hand away from me and immediately everyone went quiet. “You've had your fun.” He said sternly as he dusted his shirt like it was dirty.

“Conri, I….”

“I thought you were just mannerless, but you obviously don't have the brains to think before talking,” He scoffed, “A mutt ?” He said, anger lanced in each word especially on the word mutt.

“Why would you…”

“Listen hybrid, I don't know why you keep calling me that name. I guess your superior didn't inform you as he was expected to do,” Conri said, giving Drew the deadliest eye I've ever seen.

“I'm…I'm sorry my king,” he said immediately on his knees, “Show mercy!”

“Take him to the dungeons, I'll deal with him later.” Lucifer said void of emotions.

“No, no,” guards immediately were by his side, “Your majesty, show mercy, mer…”

Whoosh.

And they were gone, making me swallow.

“Now, that's sorted,” he returned his attention back to me, “I’ll say this once. Burn in into your head because I won't repeat myself.”

“Conri, you don't need to….”

“Silence hybrid!” His voice echoed through the hall as everyone immediately looked away, “You speak only when permitted to, know your place.”

His figure towered over me, making me shiver from fear.

“I am Lucifer, king of vampires, witches, even goblins bow to me and soon you mutts will submit to me as well.”

“And we'll rule side by side.” Elexa said coming to stand next to Conri, I mean, Lucifer and he welcomed her with a straight face.

No…this couldn’t be real.

Lucifer? Why is he calling himself that? The vampires did this.

“We should teach her a lesson for downgrading you as a mutt.” Elexa slurred, running her fingers on his exposed chest.

His face was so emotionless it made me worry, “Do you think so?” Giving me a side eye.

“Of course, no one dares to look you in the eye but she did more than that in front of your subjects.” She said gracefully, gesturing to everyone and that's when I noticed that I caught quite the attention with my behavior.

I swallowed, staring at Lucifer, he wouldn't hurt me, I'm sure he wouldn't, right?

I don't think so, meadow. Aliya said whimpering as she backed behind my mind, Mate is different.

Hearing Aliya say that made my heart skip a beat, not from excitement but fear of what could happen to us.

Lucifer seemed bored but his eyes never left mine, “Do as you please, Elexa, she has already exhausted my patience.”

He said not bothered at all but what he just said, as Elexa grins from ear to ear.

“Well…”

“Don't even think of playing with her.” That voice again, where is it coming from, “One drop of the hybrid's special blood and you know there would be a bloodbath.”

I felt the wind rush past me and suddenly someone stood next to Elexa, “Maybe this time you won't be exempted.”

“The hell Daxon!” Elexa yelled about to hit him when he quickly dodged her hand and was by Lucifer's side now.

He turned around to face me with a smile.

I gasped.

Dennis?

“You know I'm right, my king, so please don't make Elexa another reason for a bloodbath.”

Lucifer's eyes dimmed slightly, “The world needed a bit of blood to be cleansed.”

“A bit of blood? We both know…”

As he turned, he slipped his hand into his jacket like he was reaching for something and that's when I snapped. I won't let him kill my Conri again.

“Stay away from him!” I yelled, running, I don't know how fast I ran but I immediately was next to Dennis as I pushed him.

He flew to the ground shocked, he looked up embarrassed.

“What the hell?” He yelled.

“I won't let you hurt him again.”

You may have had your chance before, but I won't let you do it again.
