Mabel.

"You!!!" I yelled.

"Yes, me—I'm back," her deep, menacing voice tore through my head again.

"Where did you go?" I asked.

"Mabel!!!" I heard his voice from afar calling me.

"I don't trust him, be careful," the dark wolf said before I couldn't feel it any longer.

I looked up and noticed him jogging towards me, as he got closer, I bent over, supporting my weight with my two hands on my knees.

"There you are, what happened? I looked back and didn't see you, even in the distance," he said as he slowed to a stroll when he got to where I was.

I groaned, "I didn’t agree to a boot camp."

"Come on, don't be a lazy wolf, we have a lot to do," he complained.

"Urgghh—can't feel my legs," I groaned as I stood upright.

"Training your student means gearing up too!" He pulled me with himself as he spoke.

We ran for about five minutes before I slowed to a stop, leaning against a tree and gasping for breath, "Okay—okay, I give up, I am dying here."

He chuckled, circling back, "Alright, break time

Luke.I slammed the door so hard it nearly fell off as it bounced off the wall.I struggled to breathe as I took in the sight in front of me, Mabel was lying lifelessly in Julia's arms, her head hanging back, a tiny line of sweat formed on her forehead.I took a step forward, clenching my fists and stomping my way towards them."What the hell are you doing here?"Julia didn’t flinch. She just stared right back at me, obviously not bothered by my presence—her gaze was cold and confident. She eased Mabel onto the couch with calmness, slowing down and taking her time, like I was just some imaginary voice."That doesn’t concern you anymore," she finally said, brushing some imaginary dust off her shoulder."Like hell it doesn’t?" my voice was sharp and hard as I moved between her and Mabel, my body tensed up as I stared down at her, I became alert in case she tried anything."Oh please, you make a lot of noise for my liking," she said, her eyebrows furrowing together, her face forming disg

Mabel. I couldn't believe he would treat me this way, I know we haven't known each other for long, but the least I expected from him was his trust. Why would he tell me to teach him how to fight or better still, beg me to teach him how to fight when he could pull off all those sharp skills and tricks without my help, it's crazy. What hurts more is the fact that he doesn't even see anything wrong in keeping secrets from me, he can't seem to find anything wrong in not telling me his name... I guess he can't trust me or at least that's the excuse he gave the last time I tried asking for his name before now. It shouldn't hurt, I know it shouldn't, but it does—I thought we were really getting along, I really thought he would trust me at this point in time, I guess not. I couldn't help it when the tears began to flow, uncontrollably, I knew I had to stop but I couldn't bring myself to do so,—I felt the whole weight of everything coming down on me at once, breaking down the tall walls I

Julia. The silence in Marcus's office was heavy, the only sound that could be heard was that of my boots clicking against the marble floor as I paced the full length of the room. He had left to go speak with Cora, probably already locked up in her room trying his best to convince her to turn or at least help out. That was fine, he had his task, and I had mine but what I can't understand is why I can't get my mind straight, my mind kept drifting back to the way his hand had hovered over my body, the way he was torn between a hug and a handshake. I know it isn’t the first time he has hesitated, there have been times when I thought he would pull me into a hug, but today, I felt it, the warmth—it felt real, more than it has ever felt. I stopped pacing and stood infront of the long window, watching the courtyard, we are so close, our plan seems to be working perfectly and anytime from now, everything should fall in place, and Mabel? I could feel her walls already crumbling, each report

Luke."So that's it?" Mabel's voice cracked, breaking the silence between us, her voice laced with anger, "you just expect me to accept that you were able to beat up two wolves like it was nothing, and I’m not supposed to ask how?"I wiped the sweat off my head and looked far into the forest, anywhere but her eyes, "it wasn’t a big deal okay? I’ve had to learn how to protect myself while I've been out here, that’s all.""Protect yourself? So you have been lying to me all this while?" She asked, her tone rising again."I haven't lied to you Mabel," I responded, doing all I could to maintain my posture, the last thing I want is for her to see through my act."Oh wow, says the person that practically begged to be taught how to fight but all of a sudden, he's fighting like a beast!" She yelled.I turned to look at her, finally mustering the courage to meet her eyes."You aren't going to say anything right?" She added quickly, throwing her arms in the air as she turned to leave, "I'm out o

Cora."Do what Cora?" he responded nonchalantly."Why did you keep on taking the blame every time we got caught?" I clarified.Marcus paused, keeping his gaze at me as he massaged his chin with his right hand."I did it cause I always felt guilty, I felt guilty that I was the reason we got caught every single time we got out."That makes sense I guess."But we never said to you that it bothered us," I pressed on."You didn't need to, I saw it in your eyes, especially Levs’, the way he looked at me every time we were being dragged to father, I knew he thought of me as the weak link," he said gravely."Marcus—"He cut me off before I could say anything else, "I noticed his closeness to you, the way he would try to get you to leave me behind, I could see his disappointment whenever I joined on any adventure," he continued."Marcus, you are reading too much into it, Lev was just very competitive, he hated to lose and..." The words hung in my throat, not exactly knowing how to deliver them

Cora. The fabric on my lap held onto my skin as my sweaty palms soaked the thin material, I wiped the sweat from my hands furiously as I listened to Marcus."What do you mean?""I mean that, I am here to help, not destroy," he said calmly."It's funny you can even say these words, cause all you've done since your return is to stir trouble," I countered."I have been left with no other choice," he explained."Who left you with no other choice?""Lev, he took a curse upon himself," he said, getting up from his feet and taking a seat back where he sat.I arched a brow at him, "what do you mean?" I asked."I mean that Lev has been harbouring a curse for a while now, nurturing it under the illusion that it's a gift.""I am still very confused here, what curse are you talking about?" I sat up, leaning towards him.He leaned forward too, like he was about to say something dreadful, "I am simply trying to say that there is a curse that lives within the Black Fangs territory and the more we de
