Nine Lives

Isabella Sean: Standing at about 5"9 feet with long flowing dark hair and deep brown eyes, she exudes an aura of elegance and sophistication. Isabella is the lady betrothed to Lucas Blackwood due to familial arrangements. Unlike Lucas, she wholeheartedly fell for Lucas and loves him very much and as such is enraged at Roseline's sudden entrance into the Frey. She makes several attempts to erase and send Roseline out of the picture through sending spies like Kyle and using Lillian's connections, genuinely praying for Lucas to one day see her in a loving light.

We kept talking about our experiences in the company till the time hit 5pm in the evening. I learnt a few things about him during our talk, for one he didn’t want to tell me his position in the company. I pestered him for a while but he insisted on not saying due to ‘circumstances’. He was probably some sort of high ranked official considering the extent of his wealth, in fact, he may be in cahoots with the owner. And again, he was a very good listener. He only talked extensively to ease the tension between us in the first forty minutes or so, but after that, I just let go of all my thoughts and only till just a few minutes ago did I realize that he had just been listening to my rants with occasional ad libs.

Suddenly as we started preparations to return to the house, a dark porshe pulled over outside the cafe and out of the door stepped out a tall, radiantly beautiful young lady whose appearance resembled those of top models. Along with two other women whose appearance weren’t so far off from the lady, they walked elegantly in our direction with their gaze for some reason fixed on me.

“This woman, How did she know that I would be in here? Did she not learn properly from the last time when I warned her to not to put spies to track me?” Lucas groaned wearing a fairly irritated and annoyed look as he watched apparently Isabella close the distance on the cafe.

As they casually strode in through the door, one of the other two ladies that accompanied apparently Isabella, greeted me with a warm smile and suddenly started skipping towards me.

“And what the hell did you come for Miss Isabella Sean? If I remember correctly, this was a private cafe” Lucas stood while talking, staring at Isabella with cold furious eyes that could pierce iron if stares were daggers.

“Oh Luky, you don’t have to sound so cold and distant everytime we meet do you? Just call me Bella like old times, it saves a lot of energy too.” She retorted with a cunning smile apparently taunting him to take some sort of action.

“If you’ve brought Anna here, it just means you have something stupid planned. Please leave before I actually get angry” Lucas said still maintaining his demeanour. And what was I doing in the middle of all this?  Absolutely nothing. I wasn’t ready to get caught up in any squabble, so I just watched the eccentric lady stuff her face with ice-cream and the other just look on from her position with an uninterested expression similar to mine. Of course, that was meant to be the case.

“Excuse me miss, you don’t seem to be from around here, Can I know your name?” As if to completely ignore the entire statement Lucas just gave, she found a way to drag me into the matter.

“I’m Rose, Uhm… I’m Lucas’s friend I guess” I said trying to sound as humble as I could to avoid any communication issues that may lead to fights.

“Oh, the Rose that left with my Luky that night. How could I easily forget the lowly peasant that thought of herself as qualified to join my Luky in his own private space. That Rose right? She unexpectedly let out a series of verbal lashings on me after I answered a simple introductory question. How mean, she must be the bad girl under a smile type, best to avoid her for now.

“Oh no, I think you’re talking about a different one, if you’d excuse me then” I buried my face deep within my cup of coffee. No way I was going to argue with someone like that.

She suddenly slammed her hands down on the table and stared me in the eye, all her calm and gleeful expressions vanished leaving behind a barren face with looks of irritation and disgust dominant.

“Listen here smartie, I don’t know how you ended up in this situation with Luky but I want you to keep your hands off my stuff. Coincidences happen here and there which lead to one thing or the other, but this is as far as yours leads.” She declared violently catching the attention of even the one who had resigned herself to the ice-cream.

“You should already know the difference in leagues between your dirt class and the one you’re in, so you’d be better of--”

WHACK

The sound of Lucas’s palm connecting with Isabella’s face resounded across the entire room. She slowly retrieved her hand to place on the affected area with nothing but pure shock written on her face.

“I warned you didn’t I!? Don’t make me lose my temper Isabella!!” Lucas said with his arm still held up in the air, watching Isabella with an utterly enraged expression. I didn’t like the idea of him warring against his acquaintance for my sake, but I’d have to admit, I felt a little satisfaction when he retaliated for my sake. However, this feeling didn’t last as long as it was meant for.

Without any form of prior warnings or signs, I felt cold steel pressed against the side of my head making me suddenly tilt and causing indescribable fear to wash over me. The lady that had been focused on her ice-cream up until a few seconds ago was suddenly pressing a pistol against my head with her finger on the trigger.

“What’s the hell is wrong with you? Lucas… was it?” She said with a slightly annoyed expression not changing her gaze from her target, me. Lucas’s temper had now subsided and had now been replaced with a new emotion known as anxiety, he hadn’t expected for her to take action. He merely acted out of anger but that just put him in a situation that said anger wouldn’t save him from.

“Listen I--”

“Don’t try to bring up any petty excuses with me right now. We all saw exactly what happened. All because of a commoner kid from God knows where, you actually hit my lady/” Lucas had tried to defend himself but was interrupted by a really angry Anna. This was bad, really, really, really, really, really, bad. Was I really going to get killed here.

For someone who claims to be relative in status with Lucas, taking care of an obscure person’s body wouldn’t even be a headache at the very least, so I was really doomed here. Isabella hadn’t yet recovered from the shock, so she just stood there looking along with the uninterested member.

“Well, if you still think this girl is really worth this fuss, then I’ll just blow her up so no one gets her in the end, happy ending, story’s over”

“And the moment you lay a single hand on her, you both would be sent to accompany her to Valhalla”

An indifferent voice rang out almost simultaneously with Anna’s threat. Though it’s only been a short while, but I’d still remember that tone anywhere. I turned my gaze towards Anna to confirm and sure enough, standing behind Anna with a revolver pressed behind her head glaring down with that expressionless face, was the maid.

“I don’t know who you are but do you really think threatening my life is enough for me to take back my words? Do you really not know who I am? What a noobie” Anna stubbornly declared still pressing the pistol against my head and letting out a small grin.

“Are you deaf? I said you ‘both’ are joining her” The maid said calmly

“Anna, please stop. She’s hurting me!” For the first time since the slap, I heard Isabella’s squeky voice call out. Anna turned her head slightly to investigate and her eyes were met with a long katana pressed against Isabella’s neck already making vein paths and on the verge of drawing blood.

No one present in this room had noticed when she arrived, how long she had been around or even when she stepped out. None of us could sense anything about her, in fact, If she weren’t standing before our eyes, nobody would have believed she was in the same room with us. After she dropped me off, I assumed she went back to prepare dinner so I had no idea how she was back here.

As she her hand’s were raised pointing the blade at Isabella, a small fold in her sleeve allowed us to get a little peak at a tattoo under her right arm. The tattoo of  a bone painted pitch black looked very fabulous to me but for some reason seemed to strike fear into Anna who stood frozen in place, just perfect.

“During our trainings, they’d teach us of an agent that sounded more of like a myth to us. She was the only agent who still uses a sword, but with that sword alone, she was able to wipe out an entire state’s military without a drop of sweat.

She was the strongest, the fastest and the best. She never smiled or showed any emotions. She was the perfect being. Nine lives Lucy.” Anna finally ended her ranting with her gun falling from her grip an on to the floor in front of me.

The maid known as Nine Lives Lucy, still with her weapons pointed at her opponents pulled the trigger and pushed the blade.

vinx

When she says "just perfect", she's referring to the fact that Anna's gun is still pointed at he head but due to fear is frozen in that position. See you next chapter.
