Chapter 4

Mrs May stood in the kitchen chopping vegetables for her famous stew. It was the perfect dish for this weather and to warm them up, especially Edith. She wiped a tear from the corner of her eye. Her heart felt so heavy thinking about Edith. Although Edith was not her own she felt her pain. The council finding out was the least of her worries. She was genuinely worried about Edith. When she touched Edith's hand she felt the deep pain inside and a vision flashed before her. It was a wolf and an angel. She could not make sense of it all.

Mr May entered the kitchen dressed in his coat and boots.

" I am going to find the B*****d and kill him", Mr May spoke through gritted teeth. He would take care of it before council found out.

"Honey, it may not seem as easy. I had a vision of an angel and a wolf", Mrs May said as she added potatoes to the pot.

After all these years together, his wife still did not know he was a wolf. That is why Council had chosen them. His wife was a visionary, a sixth sense as such but she never could pick up on him.

"Honey, you should not use your wolf to tackle this. It will not end well", Mrs May said.

A baffled Mr May looked at his wife as he processed what she had just said. He was confused. Eighteen years of marriage and not once had she ever mentioned that she knew. He felt like an idiot. She was a visionary, of course she would have known. She knew things even before they happened. Just a touch of a hand can give her the past or the future. It was a special gift that they hoped their daughter would have but she inherited nothing from her parents. They were blessed to be given Edith but they could not show it. They wanted to evolve her power but they were restricted by the council. They had never known what was her gift since it was forbidden. This would draw attention to her. And the council did not want this. They needed her safe. Safe to keep them safe for when the time came. This was what was told to them and they dare not question the elders.

They did not know who the enemy was. It was a pack of wolves, joined forces with other creatures of the dark. No one ever knew. But they knew the time was coming close. Mrs May could feel it. She also sensed a feeling of hope. That there would be a higher being that would save them all. "could it be in her vision? The angel?", she thought curiously.

" I will only take my wolf form to track the perpetrators", Mr May said as he kissed her cheek, " no one will know it's me".

He still could not wrap his head around his wife knowing.

Mrs May grabbed him in a tight embrace. She hugged him tightly as it she would crawl into his skin. " Be careful my love".

He held her tightly, his body radiating heat making her instantly warm. He bent down and kissed her passionately. After eighteen years, she was still the woman for him.

She walked him to the door, a simple peck on the cheek and he was gone into the night.

Mrs May felt uneasy. She knew her husband for almost twenty years. He had never once divulge the truth of his wolf. " Was he embarrassed by his gift of his ancestors? Did he not trust her? twenty years is a long time to keep a secret",Mrs May thought to herself.

She knew him well . It was only this one thing that he had omitted, which she knew already. She embraced her gift as it helped her through the years, raising her family. " My vision was blocked this time. I could not see what was going to happen to Edith. Something or someone that did possesses a power to be a shield",Mrs May was now trembling , the glass from her hand fell and shattered onto the wooden floor bringing her out of her thought. She now knew that there was something bigger out there. Something that possesed many abilities. She closed her eye's and prayed for her husbands safe return.

The worry she felt inside ,clenched her heart.
