I pulled down my dark sunshades as i stared into the bright rays of the sun, a sigh escaping my lips.

"Wow! - so this is the famous Seattle I've been hearing of for the past two years. It's scorching hot! "- Rachel fanned herself with her hands as she complained incessantly.

" Get accustomed to it and quit complaining "- I casually dismissed her unnecessary gibberish.

"You should have known better than getting yourself wrapped up in a thick cotton blanket" - I muttered beneath my breathe as i clicked my tongue against my upper pilate.

"This . is . called. FASHION!!" - she quipped, stressing every word as she stared hard at me.

"Suit your self" - I said, shrugging my shoulders. I wasn't even really a big fan of fashion.

My eyes wandered around the environment outside the airport - nothing much had really changed. Except the fact that there were now bulletins, containing pictures of Irina hanging from every commercial high rise building.

Her kind smile that seemed to daz

News about Camille's death spread fast and soon after...her body was found. It was actually Richard's idea to place it in a very common place and that kind of made sense..... Somewhat. The gory news had the entire citizens in an uproar, some already fearing the worst. But trust the police department to give out a well, curated speech about how they're on the case and also promising that the citizens' safety was their upmost priority. Though they didn't give out the news about the killer... according to them, they're still in the middle of investigating and the culprit was yet to be determined. Detective Davis had already told me about Camille's autopsy and his suspicions about it being related to my parents mother, citing that both DNA results collected at the time, matched up perfectly. Meaning that there was a definite culprit, but that was also under thorough scrutiny. He wouldn't say any more than that , which wasn't strange given his usual tight-lipped nature. I stared a

"Selene Woods. Age: 19, gender; female. Daughter to the deceased Mr Ashley and Whitney Woods. State after accident; Critical. Date and time of accident recorded; half past nine on the twenty- fourth of July, 2014.” - The detective paused. I felt a strange chill, a thin veil of sweat covered my body. My hands which had been gripping the stirring wheel tightened, eyes lingering on the traffic lights that had now turned orange. "I also found this amongst the police records. What does Miss Selene have to say about this?" - He added. The traffic lights turned green and i smiled coldly. " What can i say about it......?." - I mused softly . " Unfortunately nothing." " As i had said earlier, i'm just a citizen with a right sense of justice. And i can only achieve that justice by aiding your work, Detective Davis. I already think that i'm on the right path, if i truly wanted to diverge...i would have done things my way from the start." - I spoke humorlessly. Detective Davis exhaled

" Huh!!" "Let's make a deal." - I breathed. "I have an offer that I'm sure you can't resist." Jason leaned against one of the sofas, his lips curled with interest. "Let's hear it - If it's from you , then i'm sure that it would be worth it." I flashed a curt smile, slipping out a file from my purse, feeling Jason's heated gaze following my every movement. I waved the file, my now bargaining chip. "In here contains a list of shares I've been successfully able to acquire from the stock market." - I slapped the file on the coffee table, eyes staring at Jason as he studied the document with scrutinizing eyes. "You're free to go ahead and check it out." - I stretched out my right hand, giving him a go-ahead and check it out. It wouldn't be a bargain if he couldn't check out if the goods were intact. Jason proceeded with some hesitations, but that all faded away the instant he flipped through the pages, his eyes filled with a mixture of awe and disbelief. "How did you get these?"

  • SELENE WOODS    CHAPTER 77

"I find it quite shocking that you would want to meet up with a suspect like me, detective." - I spoke coolly with a faint hint of amusement in my tone. Detective Davis turned away, his eyes almost evasive, the rhythmic sounds of his foot tapping against the floor boards lingered in my ears. " Don't overthink it,this isn't something I'd usually do...." - He paused, rubbing his nose with his fingers while sounding anxious - like he was at his breaking point. I smiled but it never reached my eyes, "Mr Detective seems to have it all wrong, I'm not the type to overthink about anything. But it seems to me like you've met a roadblock on your investigation and are now having a hard time requesting for my assistance." - I waved my hands, calling the attention of passing waitress. Ignoring Davis' slightly widened eyes as he expressed his disbelief." Ma'am, what would you like to order? "- The waitress holding a small tab leaned over with a small smile, her voice timidly polite as she spoke

" Mother, you're back!" - Dean rushed down the stairs, his voice filled with excitement. I smiled, dropping the box of desserts onto the table. Dean threw himself into my arms, his little face filled with smiles. He turned, his gaze landing on the small box on the table. "And you brought pastries!!" - He clapped, his smile growing wider. "Mother, you don't know how much i missed you. Staying at home alone made me bored and i couldn't help but think of you." - Dean babbled nonstop, his predatory eyes still locked on the box. He sat down on the couch, getting ready to chow down."You only missed your mother, then what about me.....Didn't you miss your father too?" - Richard walked in, holding a small package as he spoke with a deep frown.Dean humph'ed, not sparing his dear father a glance. He picked out a small piece of sponge cake, shoving it in his mouth."You unfilial child." - Richard hissed, heading towards the stairs.Dean stuck out his tongue, making a face at his dad. He only

  • SELENE WOODS    CHAPTER 75

I stared at the funeral home, it's grand columns now a pole to withering weeds. The courtyard looked dusty and very unkempt with pieces of scattered furnitures placed at every nook, silence hung heavy as a veil and it gave off an intense, somber air. The dried, fallen leaves made a crisp, crunching sound as we walked through a paved pathway. The funeral home looked like a church.....a church solely meant for the dead. "Let's go in." - Richard adjusted his tie, his arm hovering above my shoulders as he rasped. He held me, leading me towards the oakwood doors, then we walked through the long, winding, dark corridors. The air was stale and vaguely musty, nothing like the fresh outdoor breeze.....this was far too suffocating. Richard paused by a door, flashing a quick smile, his hands just inches away from the door knob. I exhaled, not needing a shaman to tell me what was behind that door. I gave a small, reassuring nod, certain that i could carry on with this. He said nothing, calml
