“You’re not going to force me into a marriage because of the debt you owe.” I spat, my cheeks tear-stained, and my fist tightened at my sides.

"I have your mother's last remaining item, so you will agree." He said, a smirk playing on his lips. Why is he so mean? I'm sure my mom left it with him so he'll give it to me.

My jaw tightened as a new wave of tears escaped my eyes, and my fist clenched by my side. My stepfather always had a way of getting people to comply with his demands.

"All right. Let's get this over with,” I agreed through gritted teeth, my knuckles turning white by my side.

He replied, "Good," and proceeded to retrieve some documents from the table. He came over with the papers, beaming from ear to ear.

He opened the paperwork. “You’ll sign here and here,” he said, pointing at an empty space for a signature and name. He handed the pen over to me.

I scanned through the document, and of course it had lots of conditions and things I had to do and things I should abstain from. The rules were so damn many; I should please him, I should attend to his sexual needs, and I shouldn’t come in contact with other men. The one I found quite funny was that I shouldn’t fall for him. Why will I even fall for someone who is going to ruin my once peaceful life when I sign the documents? I took in a deep breath and let it all out. My pen hovered over the paperwork, a part of me hating the fact I had to sign the paperwork. My knuckles tightened on the pen, but eventually I had to sign because I really needed to get the one last thing my mother left for me before she passed away. Immediately, I closed the papers before I changed my mind and shredded the paper into pieces

“I’m done,” I announced, dropping the pen with a loud thud on the paperwork. My vein popped out of my body; my breathing raged. “ “Now, can I have the necklace?”

He didn't respond; instead, he dropped the necklace on my palms and walked away. Thank goodness he is gone now; finally, some alone time. Just as I mouthed yes, a few seconds after, he stopped in his tracks like he just remembered something.

“Prepare yourself. You’ll be taken tomorrow.” My mood dropped when he announced that. There was I, thinking of how I will enjoy my few days here before I leave, but eventually things changed.

My stepdad left me alone in the parlor for good. I needed to calm my mind for a while and at least enjoy my only day of freedom before I'll be taken. I knew just the right person that could help with that: Clara, my best friend.

I retrieved my phone from my pocket and dialed her number. It rang for the first time, and on the second ring, she picked up.

“Hey Zia,” she greeted with the nickname she calls me a lot; her voice was barely audible from the loud music in her background.

“Hey,” I replied flatly. “Today is the worst day of my life; you got something that could clear my mind.”

“What’s up, girl? You don't sound too good. “Spill it out,” she said, concern filling her tone. “Is it your dad again?” she questioned in that calm, concerning tone of hers that never failed to make my heart warm.

“Yeah, it’s my dad; he just forced me into something I didn’t want to do.  Don’t want to talk much about it; I just want to clear my mind now. Could you help me with that?” I muttered, my voice low and feeble.

“If you say so,” she shrugged, and I was kind of glad she didn’t press further on the matter.

"You were saying you need to clear your mind from something; I could help with that," she answered, mischievously, in the kind of tone she uses when she's cooking up something wild and crazy.

“How?” I asked, kind of curious what next crazy thing she had cooking up.

“Come over to the club just a few blocks from my apartment if you want to find out how” she voiced out and ended the call, not even waiting for a response frrom my side. no wonder i could hear loud music in her background because she was aat the club.

I climbed upstairs to my room to have a change of clothes. I changed into a mini skirt that barely covered my thighs and hinted at a part too near my butt, along with a backless crop top that showed of my back in detail. It exposed my cleavage, and I'm sure with this dress on I may grab unusual attention, making me feel exposed. I quickly applied a little makeup and carried my handbag outt of my room before I thought of changing my dress.

I stepped out of the house, and the cool night breeze came in contact with my skin, my teeth chattered, and my hands instinctively flew to my body to shield myself from the cold. I quickly hailed a cab; I didn't want to keep Clara waiting.

The ride wasnt long, it just took less than twenty minutes before I arrived. I stepped out of the vehicle about to pay the taxi driver but he disagreed.

“How can a damsel like you be paying for her own ride.” the taxi driver complimented, fucking me with his eyes making me fell naked and expooseed. I knew doing this will bring attention and I wasnt a fan of that. The annoying thing was that, he looked like he was in his early fifties.

He licked his lips seductively staring at my clevage. “How about we share a bliissful night I promise you wont forget it.” Bile rose in my stomach from his actions and words. For crying out loud this man seemed to be in his early fiftes_old enough to be my father.

I threw the dollar bill on the man face not even waiting for my change, I dashed out and went straight to the club.

The phone kept ringing. My heart was still racing from Clara’s question when I reached for it. For a second I expected to see Xaden’s name, or Teiran’s, or an unknown number that meant the pack had found me. Instead, the screen showed Noah.I answered before the call could go to voicemail.“Hey, Noah.”“There she is,” his familiar voice came through, warm and easy. “I was starting to think you’d fallen off the face of the earth. You good?”I glanced at Clara. She was still watching me, curiosity clear on her face.“I’m okay,” I said, shifting against the hospital pillows. “Just… dealing with some stuff. How are you?”“Same old. Work’s been messy, my landlord’s being a pain again, and I almost bought a plant I would definitely kill within a week. You know, the usual.” He paused, then added more softly, “For real though, you’ve been quiet. I just wanted to check in.”The simple kindness in his voice made my throat tighten. Noah had always been like this, easy and steady. But I hadn't

“Why didn’t you tell me you’re pregnant?”Clara’s voice wasn’t loud, but it still hit me like a punch to the guts.My throat tightened until it hurt to swallow. For a second I couldn’t look at her. I stared at the edge of the blanket instead, my fingers curling into the thin fabric.“I was scared,” I said finally. My voice came out small and rough. “I didn’t know how to say it. I didn’t know what you would think.”Clara leaned forward in the plastic chair, her elbows on her knees, and her eyes fixed on my face. “Zia. You’re my best friend. You show up at my door looking like you walked through hell, you faint on my couch, and then I happened to find out from a doctor that you’re pregnant. How long have you known?”I forced myself to meet her eyes, even though my hands trembled when I met her gaze.“It has not been that long,” I admitted.Clara exhaled slowly and dragged a hand through her hair. “Okay. Okay. Just… start from the beginning. What happened? And don’t give me the short ve

  • SOLD TO THE ALPHA   Why didn't you tell me?

Louiza’s eyes rolled back before I could finish saying her name.I lunged forward and caught her before she slid fully off the couch. Her head lolled against my shoulder. “Zia— Louiza!” I tapped her cheek softly, then harder, but there was no response. Her breathing was shallow but present.I lowered her carefully onto the couch, yanked my phone out of my back pocket, and dialed emergency services with trembling fingers. The operator’s calm voice on the other end, and I quickly gave him my address and told them my best friend had collapsed without warning. They told me to stay on the line. I put the phone on speaker and stayed on my knees beside the couch, holding Louiza’s hand and watching her chest rise and fall like it was the only thing that mattered in the world. The wait for the ambulance felt longer than it probably was. I kept saying her name in case she could hear me. When the paramedics finally came through the door, I moved out of their way and answered their questions a

  • SOLD TO THE ALPHA    Are you okay?

Clara didn’t wait for me to answer. She stepped forward, wrapped an arm around my waist, and half-guided, half-pulled me inside. The door shut behind us. The lock turned. For the first time in hours, I felt the warmth of being in a house. “Sit,” Clara ordered, guiding me toward the couch. “Actually, no. Shower first. You look like you walked through a construction site. I’ll get you clothes.” I didn’t argue. My body had moved past the point of protest into a shaking form of exhaustion. She guided me to the bathroom, turned the water on, and left a folded T-shirt and shorts on the counter. When she closed the door, I sat on the closed toilet lid for a full minute before I could make myself undress. The hot water stung the healing claw marks and the blisters on my feet. But I managed the pain. I washed my body, watching dirt swirl down the drain, and tried not to think about the mansion or the two men who were probably only just realizing I was gone. When I stepped ou

I didn’t stop walking until the lights of the pack territory had completely disappeared behind me.Only then did my legs give out enough that I had to sit on a low concrete barrier at the edge of an empty road. My bag felt heavier than it should have. My shoulder still ached dully from the healing claw marks, and the rest of my body throbbed.I pressed the heel of my hand against my eyes and tried to steady my breathing.I had left.Elena’s threat replayed in my head: Leave on your own, or I tell them everything. And I had chosen the only option that kept the truth from reaching Xaden and Teiran’s ears in the worst possible way.My phone had a little battery left. My fingers shook as I found Clara’s name and pressed call. She answered on the second ring.“Zia? Hey. What’s up?”“I left,” I said. My voice came out rough. “I left the mansion.”There was a short, startled pause.“Okay… okay. Talk to me. What happened?”“I’ll explain everything once I’m at your place.” I swallowed hard.

  • SOLD TO THE ALPHA   She wouldn't just leave

Xaden's POV I don't know but something smelled off today. Louiza’s scent, that usually threaded through the halls, had reduced, like it was almost gone. Teiran felt it too. I saw it in the way he kept glancing toward the corridor that led to the guest wing, his jaw tight.“She’s avoiding us,” he said finally, standing near the window of our study with his arms crossed. “She has been since we moved her rooms.”“I know.”“She’s angry.”“I know that too.”By late afternoon the feeling that something was off grew stronger. I went to the guest room myself. The door was unlocked. The bed was made. But she wasn't in there My wolf stirred, restless.I checked the bathroom. The closet. The drawers. Most of her things were still there, but the small bag she had arrived with was gone. A few of her clothes were missing. My hands trembled as the thought crawled into my mind.Could she have left?I found Teiran in the hallway on my way back down.“She’s not in her room,” I said. His expressio

Once I entered the club, eyes were boring into my ass and cleavage, specifically, the males’. I felt exposed and vulnerable in this piece of fabric. God! It took five hours before we crossed the borders. The drive was so quiet and boring and I fell asleep at intervals. The pack was more modernized than my pack before I moved to the city. The morning light shined through the half-closed blinds, slicing right into my skull. I groaned, rolling over on what felt like the world's most expensive sheets.
