Noah’s Pov

I was almost at the end of the line. It was just left for me to gather enough money, after which I would leave with Amelia. Amelia was quite puzzled, and I could see this in her eyes. She was exhausted and, at the same time, filled with so much uncertainty.

A part of my heart told me that she didn’t fully trust me, but I didn’t care much about her. I had her by my side and that was all what mattered.

“Everything will be fine in no time”, I said to her again as we both shifted our gaze to the antique store owner who was examining the treasure with a small frown on his face.

“Is this really a treasure?” He asked and for a minute, I thought I had just heard wrongly.

I was beginning to run out of patience. I had thought that he would scream in excitement the minute he laid his eyes on it, but his countenance was so cold and sour.

“What do you mean by that?” I asked him with a cracked voice, staring at him as though I would tear him apart in no time.
