Chapter Thirteen: Lunch Date

Why on earth would he send me flowers? This didn’t make any sense. He was distant and shut off that night as if he knew it wouldn’t work. I sat in my office trying to make sense of it all the events from that night flooding back into my memory. The memorable kiss, the way he held me in his arms. The warmth of his embrace, everything telling me he was good and kind. Karsyn positioned herself on one of the seats in front of my desk as if ready to make plans for my future. She sat there looking at me waiting for me to respond or even comment but before I could even open my mouth my cell phone rang.

I opened the overhead cabinet and pulled out my purse. The ringing was louder and clearer. I pulled the cell phone from its normal slot within my purse and saw it was Jayce. Could this truly be him?

“Hello?”

I know I sounded confused as I heard him smile when I answered.

“Good Morning Alexa. Did you get my package?”
