22 - New Visitor at the Prison

The wolf hopped onto the bed and lay there on the mattress. I was reluctant at first since I wasn’t sure if it was really him but those haunting eyes gave him away. His golden eyes stared at me, unwavering. They were whiskey gold mixed with a speck of green. Wordlessly, he closed them again. There was no sign of the beast that was unleashed earlier, he just looked like a harmless big wolf.

“Maverick…” I walked closer to the bed, keeping my distance in case he didn’t recognize me. The last thing I needed was a werewolf bite.

I was terrified of what was going to happen next. Does he stay in the wolf form for a long time because he’s injured?

I didn’t know what it was like for the werewolves since I’d never been close to them until I’d been sent to Dark Waters. Werewolves had always been my enemy; we were taught to kill them.
