I was standing in front of Adolph when I realized that this might be our final embrace and our last time together.

I clutched on Adolph as if my life depended on it as his arms embraced me in a warm, loving hug. We both had tears streaming down our faces as a bittersweet monument to the love we had for one another.

Adolph muttered inconsolably, "I don't want to let you go," his voice shaking with sorrow.

Although his words mirrored my own, I realized there was nothing else to do. In an attempt to permanently imprint the memory of his aroma and touch into my very being, I squeezed him closer while buried my face in his shoulder.
