Rene’s POV

I stared at friends of my husband and mine as they strode in and out of my house with sad faces. Some patted me by my back, some gave me a sad long look.

“He was a good man” one of them said, giving me a sad smile.

Yes I knew. Nathan was a good man and i couldn’t believe he was dead. My husband. The one man i could ever love.

Lisa was with me all through, holding me together.

“You’re doing well b” she whispered to me.

When all the visitors left, I opened the fridge to take out a bottle of whiskey when I was interrupted by Remy. He moved towards me to the kitchen.

Hey, Ladies, Hi Rene, how are you holding up?” He placed a gentle hand on my shoulder.

I shook my head. “I don’t know, Remy. I don’t.”

Remy shoved his hands in his pockets and rocked on his heels. “Listen, can I talk to you about something? In private? It’s about Nathan.”

My eyes grew wide as I looked at Lisa, who nodded. “Yeah. That’s fine. Lisa, can you finish cleaning up please?

“Sure thing. Y’all go handle business. I’ll be right here when you get back,”

Remy put his hand on the small of my back, easing me out of the kitchen. “Let’s go to your study, ok?”

I nodded. I figured that this must be serious if he wanted to talk in the study. Was the firm in trouble financially? Did he want to talk about dividing up assets now? I didn’t want to think about all the business crap just hours after I put Nathan in the ground. I thought Remy was a much more sensitive guy than that.

But when I got to my study, I found Kai sitting on my leather sofa. I furrowed my brows, confused. What the hell did the two of them want to talk to me about? I thought of every scenario. Did Nathan owe money? Did he cheat and produce a child? God, had he been unfaithful throughout the entire marriage? The thought made me nearly faint, but Remy held me steady.

“Rene? Are you okay? Please, sit down here.” He pulled out the plush velvet chair in front of my desk for me to sit as he sat on the arm of the sofa.

“Remy, what is this about? Is the firm okay? Did Nathan do something?”

“No, Rene, the firm is fine. It’s all good. Actually, this may be our best year in existence. Still hard without Nathan though.”

He looked over at Kai, who nodded. “Go on man,” encouraged Kai. “Tell her.”

Remy ran a hand over his head as he began. “Rene, you know Nathan was like a brother to us. I mean, I have known him since law school. And Kai…well, we picked him up along the way, but we’ve all been boys for a long time.”

I nodded with a knowing smile. “He loved you all like brothers too.”

“The thing is, when Nathan told us he had Meningioma and had just a few months to live, he made us promise something to him. Several things, actually.”

“Promise what?”

“To take care of you,”. “If you ever needed anything, you were to call us first. Doesn’t matter what it’s about. The house. Money. Anything.”

I smiled. “That is very sweet, Rem. And I know you guys are so kind and will look out for me. But I don’t need money. Nathan took care of that. And I don’t need...”

“That’s not what we mean,” Kai interrupted. He chewed on his bottom lip. “I mean, yeah, all of that too, but Nathan wanted us to be... there for you. In any capacity.”

My brows knit in confusion, his emphasis on the word not making things clearer. “And like I said...you don’t have to be. I’m well taken care of.”

The duo looked at each other, frustrated. I wasn’t here for this cryptic game. “Listen, is there something you all aren’t telling me? I feel you’re talking in riddles. And right now, hours after burying my husband, that’s something I can’t deal with.”

“Fuck it,” said Kai. “Rene, the reason I was at Coverts that night is that Nathan told us what he asked you to do. And I had to make sure you didn’t go through with it.”

My eyes were wide with horror. I felt heat rush to her face. “Why? Why would he tell you that? That was our business…my business! Are you trying to embarrass me?” I was actually a little disappointed that this conversation would not be about a mistress or a baby.

Kai shook his head, apologetically. “No, Tatum, not at all. It’s just...we told him that was a dumb thing to ask. You’re already under so much stress and we know you’d never say no to Nat. Plus, just months before, he’d asked one of us to take care of those needs for you.”

My eyes bulged at what I heard. “Excuse me? what?”

Remy sighed. “He wanted us to handle the sex stuff for him. Because he couldn’t anymore and you seemed so sad and lonely. We were like, ‘Hell no. We are not doing this.’ But he said he would rather the next man you sleep with be familiar and not a stranger. But we said nah, so I guess he concocted this Coverts plan.”

Rene’s POVI didn’t wait long before i had another company the next day with the simple text on my phone that said “I am coming to take care of you” take a bath and relax. It felt like It was something that was done in turns now.I watched as Remy moved about the kitchen. His slacks were fitted and tailored within an inch of their life. He was the epitome of tall, dark, and handsome. He was well over six feet, with curly black hair that he managed to barely tame. His goatee was always perfectly manicured, and I was more than jealous of the smoothness of his skin. He always smelled good and his hands were always soft. He was, in a single word, perfect. I could see how Remy had women, and men, fawning all over him. Shit, I was salivating right now.He poured glasses of Pinot Grigio for both of us as he motioned for me to raise my glass for a toast.I squinted. “What are we toasting?”I shrugged. “Hell, I don’t know. I just know I shouldn’t pour a fine glass of wine without a toast.”“T

Rene’s POVWe were at the observatory and planetarium.Kai removed his helmet, still on the bike. My eyes went straight to his thick, jean-clad thighs. I swallowed, pressing my own thighs together. Lisa was right. This man was fine as hell.“I figured I’d take you to see the second most beautiful thing in the world that consumes my thoughts.”I frowned. “Second?”He got off the bike, closing the space between us with quick strides. He took me by the hand, staring at me with whiskey-colored eyes. “Yes, second. Come on.”The planetarium was nearly empty. He led me toward the back- middle row of seats. I looked around, feeling self-conscious; I couldn’t remember the last time I had been in the dark with a man. Kai must have sensed my nerves. He reached for my hand, stroking it.I nervously giggled. “Relax, Rene.. It’s just me.” he laughed, kissing the top of my knuckles and sending a hiss down her wrist. We continued to watch the show as Kai pointed out several things. I was intrigued a

Rene’s POVAfter sleeping until midday, I made to have coffee As I was reaching for the coffee, my doorbell rang. Startled, I looked at the doorbell app on my phone. I wasn’t expecting anyone on a Saturday morning, and anyone with sense would call. When I looked at the app, I could only see broad shoulders wearing a leather jacket. When the face glanced up in the camera, I swallowed.KaiEven in shades, with the beard and leather jacket, he looked every bit the part of a rebel. He was incredibly sexy.I didn’t bother to communicate with him via the doorbell app; instead, I adjusted my robe and made my way to the front door. Slowly, I opened it a crack.“So, was calling out of the question?” I asked as i leaned against her doorframe.“Get dressed. I’m taking you to breakfast” he commanded.I rolled my eyes, mildly irritated. “Excuse me?”“Breakfast, Rene. I’m sure you haven’t eaten in a while. It’ll sober you up.”I scratched my head. “I am sober. I think...”It wasn’t until Kai sighed

Rene’s POVI put down my drink slowly, my heart pounding. “It depends. What is it?”“For you to just relax. Be open. Have fun. Again, we got you.” Remy reached across the table for my hand. I freely gave it to him as he interlocked his fingers with mine. He had the softest hands and a perfect manicure, I observed. “Trust us, okay?”I nodded. “Okay.”“So, when do these dates start?” Kai asked.I smiled. “I guess this can count as the first date. A group date.” “Well, that’s wack,” Remy laughed. “But I understand.”“And as for these dates,” Kai suddenly asked, “Do we get to plan them or what?”I shrugged. “Sure. Honestly, I’ve never been much of a planner of dates. All I want is just some time alone to get to know you all as individuals, apart from what I knew of you via Nathan.”“And if it gets...physical?” Remy asked with some hesitation.I swallowed, thinking about my phone session with Remy . “When I am ready, we need STI tests. Clean bills of health. Medications you are on. No ill

Rene’s POV“Seriously, how do you feel?” Remy asked me as he continued to clean himself.Relaxed. Blissful. I wanted to say that. Instead, I simply replied, “I’m good.”“Good.” he tossed the tissue into a wastebasket next to the desk and gently adjusted his glasses.“You didn’t take your glasses off,” I observed as I watched his post-orgasmic ritual. “Do you keep them on during sex?”He laughed. “Normally I wouldn’t. Would you like me to next time?”I frowned playfully. “Who said there was going to be a next time?”“There’s going to be next time. Possibly with our clothes off. In person. But I’d at least like to take you to dinner first. I am a gentleman, after all.”“What makes you so sure?”He adjusted the waistband of his shorts. “Because phone sex isn’t enough for a woman like you.”“A woman like me? What’s that? Old? Lonely?”He frowned. “Don’t talk down about yourself, Rene. You’re not ancient. And you’re not alone. You have me. And the fellas,” He picked up the phone, his face
