"He'll kill his own people he is to lead without knowing, causing them pain and agony and his people will stone him to death just as I'm stone to death but…" A werewolf on a rampage was exactly what the mysterious killings could be described as in SilverLinings Pack. Everyone was ordered to stay inside but is that really the solution? The powerful warriors of the pack felt useless in solving the mystery. Things take a drastic turn of events when the identity of the killer is discovered as it leads to years long buried secrets brought to light, as they discover a curse. Who is the killer? What does a curse have to do with the killing? Will they be able to break the curse? Will SilverLinning Pack survive the killer or is this the last of them all?
View MoreThe moon was very bright, Steph noted as she made her way to the stream. The forest was strangely quiet as the wind blew slowly.
She whistled as she made her way, pushing the branches of the large trees away with her palm. It's been a while since she went swimming in the river. Her wolf growled quietly and she smiled.
It could smell the waters, Werewolves were known for their strong sense of smell. The town was quiet, everyone was still scared from the killings that had been happening in the land.
There'd always been the death of a wolf every full moon in the last six months. No one knew the cause of their deaths other than the fact that it had been the work of a wolf.
It was definitely a wolf from a different pack, wolves didn't kill in their packs, and the killings had stopped for a while since the security had heightened. The Alpha had commanded watches doubled and watchers increased.
Her wolf growled again and she stifled a shout as she came in front of the river, it looked still, and she was grateful for the increased watch... She could swim and ease the heat her wolf had bottled up.
She began to undress hurriedly as her wolf started to peep. She could feel her nails growing out into claws as she fumbled with the button on her shirt.
"Calm down, Stephanie," she cooed to her wolf.
She was barely out of her shirt when her wolf came out, ripping her skirts into little pieces. She huffed as she stepped into the river. The cold water washed over her and she went under the water, her fur soaked in the water as she moved in the water. Her wolf was pleased.
It was a thing for her to go swimming every month, she'd been unable to go for five months due to the fear of the masked wolf that had been killing pack members.
Her mind link tapped open as her mother connected to her.
"Where the heck are you?" Her voice thundered in Steph's head and Steph chuckled, imagining her present position. Hands on her hips and chest pushed out.
"At the river," she replied through the link.
She picked a gasp as her mother's heartbeat pace increased.
"It's risky, why are you out there?"
Her wolf shook violently shaking the water from its fur, Steph beamed in delight, happy her wolf was finally getting what it had always wanted.
She wasn't scared, she was one of the strongest females in the pack. She was sure she could handle whatever came her way.
"Steph....?" Her mum reached out through the mind link again.
Realising the action of her wolf had shut the mind link, she tried to stop moving as she replied, "I'm fine, I just needed a wash, ma."
Her mum said something she didn't quite pick, she was about to ask when she noticed a movement in the bush. Her wolf picked up the scent before she did. It was the presence of another wolf.
"Steph?" Her mum connected again
Steph ignored her as she walked out of the river ever so slowly, not taking her eyes off the part where she had sensed the movement, she shook her body as she remained in her wolf form.
If there was going to be a fight, her wolf was a better fighter than she was. She shut off the mind link as her mum kept reaching out.
The wolf growled as it moved slowly, still hiding itself in the bushes.
The smell had gotten stronger, the smell got stronger as the movement increased, it was coming towards her.
She growled softly preparing her wolf who had now gotten scared. Her wolf whimpered and moved backwards. Steph tried to steel it to the front but it stayed fixed backwards as it stared at the spot.
There was another growl and Steph whimpered suddenly regretting her decision to come swimming. The wolf growled loudly again and jumped out of the bush, revealing itself.
It stood on a stump and howled loudly, facing the moon.
Steph felt her heart pound in her chest. Her wolf's fear combined with her as she stared at the wolf the size of a horse, very large.
It came down and walked towards her. She gulped as she moved backwards, away from the river. The moon was full so she could make out the wolf's features.
It was a silver-lined wolf with bright red eyes. The eyes shone in the dark, it looked so scary, Steph knew she couldn't win even if she fought. She had to let her mother know who it was.
Opening the mind link... She connected, she was about to communicate when it flung itself at her, pushing her down and pressing its large paw on her neck.
It pressed till she couldn't feel her neck again.
"The lamb for this night," it growled as it licked her face. She froze as she recognized the voice. Struggling to breathe, she tried to connect to her mum.
"Greet the ones before you on my behalf," the wolf whispered and with one last howl bite into her neck.
She shouted as the pain shot through her whole body, it sucked on the spot and she lay still as her energy drained from her body. It was her turn tonight, only if she had stayed at home
The mind link opened again and she tried to focus, she had to tell her mum who it was.
The wolf raised its head, licking its mouth and plunged at the bite again, this time, tearing that part away. She groaned as she felt parts of her body being torn to food.
"Steph!!! No!!" Her mother's voice echoed in agony. She was sure her mother was sharing in her pain, and she focused again trying to ignore the noise and pain.
"Mother, it's the..." she shouted in pain as the wolf yanked her thigh bone off with its huge sharp teeth.
Her eyelids fluttered as her body became numb. She closed her eyes as the mind link disconnected.
"No... No... No." She cried as her body gave out to the weakness.
She took one final look at the beast and breathed her last.
"And why are we discussing choosing a new Alpha?" Kendrick questioned, his eyes narrowing as he scanned the room."Our Alpha is recovering well. He was awake for a brief moment yesterday, and Nancy said he'll be fine in a month's time," he paused, noting the carefully blank expressions on the faces of the elders and others seated around the conference table."Is there something I am missing here?""There's nothing you are missing," Elder Ambrose replied with a tight smile. "Although it breaks my heart to do this, it is what we have to do.""Why?" Kendrick repeated. "I still don't understand the reason behind the sudden need for a new Alpha.""None of this is sudden," Elder Lydia answered with a sigh. "The proposal for appointing a new Alpha had already been made before Alpha Elton got poisoned. In fact, the poisoning case delayed it.""You wanted to impeach the previous Alpha? That's surprising," he scoffed. "If that's the case, we should probably start searching for those who will fi
"Thank you, Beta Kendrick!" The grey-haired woman dropped to her knees, bowing so low her forehead touched the dirt. Her shoulders trembled as she sobbed, her face streaked with tears and snot while she clung to his ankles, stopping him from escaping as he had been doing the past few days."If not for you… My son would’ve been executed for something he didn’t do." She cried, her voice hoarse from how much she had cried and shouted after him. "After losing my husband just months ago, I... I couldn’t have survived losing him too.""I'm forever grateful to you!" Kendrick stiffened as he felt her hands around his ankle. He groaned, unsure what to do as the woman wept at his feet. Before he could utter a word, another figure rushed forward."You saved my daughter too!" Another woman joined, kneeling beside the first, with a basket of freshly picked fruits clutched to her chest. Her face glowed red from excitement or embarrassment, and her hands trembled slightly as she held the basket out
"No wonder everyone is talking about the soufflés!" Xander exclaimed between bites, his cheeks bulging as he chewed the dessert. "Although it doesn't taste like that of your mother, the taste and texture are quite close." "It tastes good," Kendrick agreed as he took another small bite from his serving. "Do you think they changed the baker? The last baker's soufflés were the least liked dessert in the bakery," Xander mused."Yeah, they have a new assistant baker; she was employed based on her soufflé skills, and she just happened to be the one who served us," Ava replied as she cut into her chocolate mousse. "And you know that because?""It was just by the way; I was doing some checks on Kayla, who happened to be her sister," Ava replied with a shrug. Before Xander could ask the obvious question, she continued."Kayla applied to join my team. She's got the skill of a trained warrior; she's got the instinct and awareness. And that's unsettling somehow." "How is that unsettling?" Da
"Can I get a pack of macarons and two packs of croissants?" Asked a silver‑haired man, his brows and eyelashes the same silvery shade, while Jasmine stood behind the counter, gently sipping natural mango juice after her morning shift."Coming right up," she murmured, trying not to spill as she reached around the service area."Take your time; I’m not in a rush," he added with a gentle chuckle. His eyes crinkled at her worried smile."Sorry… So that’s one pack of macarons and two packs of croissants. Right?" she confirmed, beginning to box the order. She stole glances at him as she worked.Noticing, he laughed softly. "Planning to ask if it’s natural or dyed?""I don’t mean to be rude," she flushed, embarrassed at being caught. “It’s just… you look different.”He raised an eyebrow, tilting his head. “Different how?”“Oh! Not in a weird way,” she hurriedly corrected. “You’re different—beautifully different. The blue in your eyes shines against your silver hair. It’s relaxing. It makes p
"Ahhhh!" Jasmine screamed as she jolted awake, eyes red and sweat covering her forehead. She shivered in fear, her chest heaving like she’d just escaped drowning. Her fingers gripped the edge of the blanket, clutching it as if it could somehow anchor her to the present.Looking around the room, she curled up, her eyes shaking, unable to recognise where she was. Instead of the ocean blue coloured walls in her room or the beautiful crystal and flower decorations around the place, all she sees areendless trees and blood. So much blood. And instead of her frantic heartbeat, all she heard were screams. Her mother’s scream. And then the merciless growl of the man who—Jasmine choked on a sob, curling in on herself as the nightmare replayed over and over in her mind.Except it was not just a nightmare. It was a memory, one that she could never forget no matter how hard she tried. She squeezed her eyes shut, but that only made it worse. The image came back clearer. How her mother fell to he
"What are you doing here?" "Relaxing? Getting lost in my thoughts?" Hellen replied with a shrug, her back relaxed against the tree with her gaze trained on the distance. "I'm not entirely sure. I just found myself here." "It's training time; why didn't you join the others?" Kenderick asked as he sat beside her with his hands buried in his pockets. "The coach wants me to get my shit together," Hellen breathed out, her voice devoid of any emotion while her brows pulled together in a frown. "I keep getting agitated during the training.""You are the most focused and attentive one amongst your batch. It's impossible for you to get agitated. Who were you training against? Caroline? Joshua?" "Ted, I've been nothing but distracted since Mom's death," She replied dryly. "It wouldn't have mattered who I was training with at the time. I just keep aiming for their vital spot. Every one of my aims was to kill." Unable to find an answer to her words, Kendrick remained silent as he relaxed aga
