Alpha Connor quickly got to his feet and headed for the door but she ducked away from him and kept approaching the table where I was sitting. “So, you think you can steal my man and get away with it? You think you can make him believe that you’re his fucking mate. What are you? A fucking witch or something?” She yelled as she was getting closer to me. But Alpha Connor grabbed her arm and pulled her backwards away from me. “She is only 15 and doesn’t feel the bond. I do. She didn’t cast any fucking spell on me. Poisoned. I was being poisoned. I couldn’t even process that. But I guess it didn’t really come as much of a surprise. I mean, dad did everything else to me. Why not poison me as well. “Ever since you got here, you told me that the food tasted differently.” Alpha Connor says. “Yeah. It does.” I say. “Your father was poisoning your food.” Alpha Connor says. “Well, that’s why she’s not healing. And she won’t start to heal until all of that crap is out of her system.” Dr. Evelyn says. “How long will that take?” Alpha Connor asked leaning forward on his legs while we were all sitting in the living room area. “It’s hard to tell. It depends on how much they were feeding to her. It could be days or it could be weeks. It will flush out of her system, it will just take time.” Dr. Evelyn says. I sat there listening to them talking back and forth about me and all I could do was nod my head. I didn’t really know what else to do. I didn’t know what to say. There wasn’t anything to say.

I stood there in shock looking at this warrior on his knee showing me his complete respect and calling me ‘Your Majesty’. But I looked at Connor and I was really confused. But after the first warrior did that then more of them looked like they were coming to some realisation as well and they started doing the same thing. “Connor.” I say as my heart rate started speeding up a little. I wasn’t used to having so much attention towards me. And he raced up the stairs to me and put his arm around me to try and calm me down a little. “It’s alright. I’m here.” He says rubbing my arms and it actually did calm me down a little bit. “What’s going on?” I asked confused. “I have no idea.” He says equally as confused. I was sitting on the couch and Connor was kneeling in front of me while I held him tight and sobbed into his shoulder. He wrapped his arms around me lightly, trying not to hurt me but rubbing my back at the same time. “What are you talking about? I don’t understand.” Connor says to me. “My father killed my mother. She told me.” I sobbed out. “It was just a dream. I mean, it might not be true.” Connor says. But I knew that it was. It was a dream, but it was more than that. My mother came to me. She warned me. She needed me to know what was going to happen when my father found me. She told me to stay close to Connor. That I would need all the protection that I could get. He was going to come for me. I don’t know now because his pack aren’t warriors. They’re a joke. But that doesn’t mean that he won’t find other ways of getting me. I knew that to be true. He was a monster. A manipulative monster. ALPHA CONNOR POV We searched high and low for Vera but there was no sign of her. She somehow managed to hide her scent, and he lost her trail. She was a good warrior and the guards on duty that had been watching her told me that she had been growing insane not being able to see me. So I don’t know what sort of mindset she was in right now. We all went back to the village to meet and gather intel in case they might have seen something that wasn’t important but could lead us to where she really was. We were in the middle of the village discussing what happened while looking for Vera and a couple of warriors had been attacked but there was only the one death. I was grateful for that. That was until I looked up towards my cabin and the two guards at my door were lying lifeless on the veranda. “Oh no.” I say running full speed towards my house. ALPHA CONNOR POV As soon as I got to the packhouse Alpha Silas was waiting in the living room for me with a couple of his warriors and Miles was with him. “She’s down in the dungeon.” Miles said, looking towards an open door. Without saying anything to anyone, I walked to the door and down the stairs. It smelt moldy and old and not fit for human’s. Which I thought was very suitable for Vera. The floor was concrete but the walls were brick and every cell that I passed I could see blood splattered on the walls and floors. They never even tried to clean up after torturing and interrogating prisoners. That didn’t bother me at all. I actually liked it. It could be a scare tactic for other prisoners that were put in the dungeon. And it would definitely work if someone was in trouble. I liked the setup of the dungeon. Mine is just a cave with chains in the walls. Which is why we needed 24-hour guards watching the prisoners. I could hear noises coming from the very last cell and there

ALPHA CONNOR POV Miles and I raced to the hospital as fast as our legs would take us and I ran straight to Aurora's room and there were people everywhere. Warriors checking out the room, the nurses, Dr. Evelyn, everyone that was involved in Aurora's care. "What the hell happened?" I demanded as soon as the door slammed open. And a nurse stepped forward. "Alpha. I don't know what happened. I came in at about 20 past 12 to do her vitals and she wasn't here." The nurse says. And I looked at the clock. It was 12:30am. Technically it was Aurora's 16th birthday now. "It's her birthday. I need to see the security cameras. Everything that you have. I need to know if any of her father's people were here." I demanded. So the head warrior took me to the surveillance room and we started looking through all of the video footage from outside Aurora's room. There were no security cameras inside the rooms, only in the halls. And we started looking through the recordings but there was nothing.

ALPHA CONNOR'S POV I began running to the North side of the territory, as fast as my legs would take me. And the warriors with me, they were getting left behind. They were having trouble keeping up with me. But I didn't care. I needed to get there. The warrior didn't tell me what kind of shape Aurora was in. I didn't want to ask. He never said if she was alive or dead. Maybe he found her body and he didn't know how to tell me. He sounded very strange when he spoke to me in the mind link. Like there was more going on then him just finding Aurora. My heart was almost beating out of my chest the whole time I was running to get to them. The worst images going through my head. I couldn't help it. Everyone always imagines the worst. And that was no different here. The warrior didn't give me any information and I was scared to death. If he had alerted me to her using a different tone then maybe I would know what I was walking into. But he didn't. So, whatever he has seen, it's not normal.
