Chapter Fourteen

Reiner’s POV

I lay in her bed, surrounded by her scent mixed with mine after we marked and mated each other. I hadn’t expected sex with my mate to be so different from the sex I had before. It was more intimate, it meant something. I guess that’s what they mean by making love. I wanted her to stay but Evie needed her. That little girl had been through so much. She needed her more than I did. I had been lucky; I had grown up with both of my parents. I had close friends and family. We had family dinners every night. On Sundays, we had our family over and had a big dinner. I felt a wave of sadness wash over me. I jumped as Myla’s voice was in my head.

“Are you ok? Why are you sad?”

“I told her it was nothing and I had just been missing her.” I felt her happiness come through the bond.
