Chapter 2

Alexander’s POV

A smile crossed my lips when Ethan mentioned me trying to kill our father, it had happened so long ago but the memory was still fresh in mind.

“I assure you baby brother that my home will always be here whether you like it or not” I said and placed a hand on Ethan’s shoulder.

I was sure I looked a shabby comparison to him dressed in my leather jacket and ripped jeans while he looked crisp and clean in tailored suit, some things definitely never changed.

“I don’t care about your assurance Xander, I can not let you back here, you are a troublemaker and I refuse to allow you ruin everything I have achieved here, you do not belong here, you never have and you know it so just do everyone a favor and go back to whatever hole you crept out of” Ethan said as he took a step towards me, his eyes flashing dangerously, he had grown up a lot since the last time we had met.

I smiled and took a step forward as well, we stood eye to eye “I am not really in the mood to anyone any favors right now, I am a part of the crescent pack and I have decided to be with my family, I don’t think you have any right to stop me from doing that” I said with a casual shrug, the smile never left my face.

Ethan scoffed and said “Family? What do you know of that word?”

“I don’t care what you think and I am not asking your permission baby brother” I said.

“You will show me the respect I deserve, I am your Alpha and the chief Alpha of the 8 packs, so I believe you need my permission to do anything around here” Ethan said.

He had grown, he had grown indeed but I still found him childish even in this moment but he was right, I needed his permission and it was of the greatest importance I stayed here.

I let out a sigh and said “Look Ethan, I am not here to fight, I understand your anger and reluctance to take me in, after all I have been gone for years but I really need to stay here, with my people”

“You did not care in the past, so why on earth do you care now?” Ethan asked, his eyes piercing into mine.

“I don’t know, I really don’t, I have roamed around for too long, I just think it is time for me to return to where I belong” I said.

My words seemed to have some sort of effect on him because he took a few steps back before clearing his throat and then he said “You are welcome to stay for now, but if you cause any trouble or do anything that brings harm to anyone, you are out, is that clear?”

I raised my hands in a show of surrender telling him that I completely agreed with him.

Just then the sound of a ringing phone disturbed the quiet and therefore broke the intense glare Ethan was giving me, I watched as he pulled a phone from his pocket, I noticed his features softened when he looked at the screen.

“Hey love, sorry I was going to call you after the meeting ended but I got held up” he said once he picked up the phone.

I could tell it was a woman on the other end and her voice was vaguely familiar.

“That’s okay babe, how did meeting go?” the woman asked.

“I will tell you all about it when I get home and I am bringing a guest along” Ethan said.

“A guest?” the woman said.

“Yeah I will explain everything when I get home” Ethan said.

“Okay, see you then” the woman said.

“Okay, I love you” Ethan said.

I was not sure why a uncomfortable feeling settled in my chest at the mention of those words and it only intensified when the woman said “I love you too”

It was a feeling I did not recall feeling before and I did not like it one bit.

“You will stay at my house for the time being and also I can make sure you stay out of any trouble” Ethan said.

His words drove the feeling away and it was gone just as quickly as it came, a smile crossed my lips once more as I said “Sounds good to me”

Maria’s POV

I was in the garden waiting for Ethan to arrive, I wondered what the meeting had been about, I knew it was nothing good, the council never called emergency meetings when there was good news and I highly doubted this time had been any different and I was also wondering who the guest Ethan was bringing with him.

My thoughts were disturbed by the sound of an approaching car, I got up and rushed to the door so that I could welcome Ethan home.

I made it in time to see him stepping out of the car, I could tell he was worried or perhaps he was bothered about something, I was about to go to him when another man stepped out of the car.

I could not recognize him at first but when he looked my way, I felt like all the wind had been knocked out of him, I stumbled backward.

There was no mistaking it, despite only seeing those honey colored eyes just once, I could recognize them anywhere, it was him, it was the man from my dream this morning. My entire body felt like it was on fire, I could feel my wolf trying to claw her way out, just what the hell was happening to me? And who was this man and why the hell was he with Ethan?

These were the last thoughts I had before feeling myself blacking out, I was falling, I saw Ethan and the familiar rush in my direction before I slipped out of consciousness.

When I woke up, it was already dark outside, I was lying on my bed and Ethan was seated on the bed beside me, holding my hand in his.

“You are up?” he said with a smile on his face.

I tried sitting up on the bed and he helped me up “What happened? I just suddenly passed out” I said.

“Yeah the doctor said you were just stressed out that was all” Ethan said as he shifted closer to me and placed a kiss on my forehead.

It immediately came back to me, the man I had seen with Ethan, he was the same man I had seen in the my dreams and he was also the reason I had passed out, I had never felt my wolf react so strongly before, not even with Ethan.

“Who was the man you had brought along with you? I don’t recognize him as a friend of your” I asked, I had to be careful, I had no idea why I was having erotic dreams about a stranger.

Ethan pulled away when I said this and a sigh escaped his lips “Actually, I wanted to tell you about that, that was Alexander, he is my brother and he will be staying with us for a while” he said.

I had known that Ethan had a brother, a half brother but we hardly spoke about him, he had left a long time ago and from what I could remember about him, he was quite the bastard.

“Why is he staying here?” I asked.

Ethan leaned closer to me and placed a soft kiss on my lips and then when he pulled away, he placed his forehead against mine “I am sorry for dragging him in here, he has always had a thing for causing trouble, I want him somewhere I can keep an eye on him, it will just be for a few weeks” he said.

I was not sure what to say to this but I knew there was some sort of connection between us and it begged for my attention, I had to figure out what was going on.

So I smiled and said “I don’t have a problem with having him around, he is family after all”

Ethan pulled away and said “Yeah family, that is what he is”
