Chapter 4

Author: Perfect Timing
The moment the procedure slip hit the floor, Solana instinctively snatched it up and stuffed it away as quickly as she could. However, Isaiah's sharp eyes had already caught sight of the words "procedure slip" on the paper.

Her heart pounded so hard it felt like it had jumped to her throat, and she could even hear the thumping of her heart in her ears. She fumbled for a moment, trying to come up with something believable.

Finally, she mumbled, "It's nothing; it's just a simple dental procedure. Dr. Bates said I should take care of any dental issues early during pregnancy, or it'll cause trouble later."

Solana deliberately brought up the pregnancy. Sure enough, Isaiah's face darkened after hearing it, and he didn't pursue the matter further.

His brow relaxed slightly, but he still maintained a cold expression as he said distantly, "Come on, I'll take you to the hospital for another check-up."

Solana waved her hands frantically, and she was panicking. "Oh, no need. You should go take care of your business. I—"

"I said I'm taking you to the hospital. Didn't you hear me?"

Upon hearing his tone grow noticeably heavier, Solana had no choice but to timidly follow behind him and shut her mouth. As they passed through the living room, he suddenly stopped and explained the situation to the elders who were still discussing wedding plans.

Solana's mind was racing, wondering what she would do if Isaiah discovered the truth at the hospital. While distracted, she accidentally bumped into him. Her soft chest pressed against his back, and an unusual emotion arose as Isaiah cleared his throat, his face showing discomfort.

The elders on the sofa were all pleased with Isaiah's attentiveness toward her. Nonetheless, one person noticed his subtle reaction. Alyssa's eyes dimmed as she silently clenched her fists.

Isaiah had initially planned to drop her off at home along the way. However, she suddenly offered to join them at the hospital.

She said, "Isaiah, Sol is a girl after all. It would be inconvenient for you to go to the hospital with her. Having me there would be helpful."

Solana hadn't wanted her to come along. Just sitting in the same car with her was already uncomfortable enough. Then again, she couldn't show her reluctance too obviously.

Isaiah barely understood anything about her pregnancy, but Alyssa was a woman, too. This meant Solana would be in trouble if she noticed anything suspicious.

Solana sat in the back seat, lost in thought. Meanwhile, Alyssa, who was in the passenger seat, stopped talking and began fiddling with the car's decorative accessories.

Isaiah had always been a neat freak. His car was usually spotless and fresh-smelling with a minimalist interior. Solana particularly loved little trinkets and always wanted to redecorate the vehicle. However, he refused, not even wanting to change the car's air freshener.

Once, when Solana had low blood sugar from hunger and opened a pack of crackers in the car, Isaiah snatched them away and ruthlessly threw them out the window. "No eating in my car."

She endured the discomfort while frantically searching through her bag, hoping to find a piece of candy to relieve the pain. Sadly, she found nothing and had to suffer the entire ride home. She even nearly fainted by the time they arrived.

Yet now, Alyssa had not only redecorated the car's interior to her preferred style but had even changed the air freshener.

Solana finally realized the difference between being loved and unloved. Her heart suddenly ached as she clutched her chest and turned to look out the window.

It had started raining when they left, and it was getting heavier, with large raindrops pounding loudly against the car. As the car headed toward the hospital, Solana's heart began to race again.

As he left the doctor's office, Isaiah's face was full of despair. It turned out he had already been given a death sentence back home, and coming here for treatment was his last hope. Yet, even this last hope had been shattered. He stumbled back to his hospital room and ran into Reuben, who had just returned. Reuben could tell from his expression that he knew everything. "Isaiah, the doctor said there's still hope, as long as you stay committed to treatment."However, these words seemed so pale and powerless at this moment. When Isaiah looked up again, his face was covered in tears. "Reuben, I don't want to die yet. I haven't won Sol back... I'm not ready to go!"He broke down in Reuben's arms, sobbing until exhaustion forced him back into bed. After that, Isaiah took treatment even more seriously. Although this hospital was already among the best in the world, he was still not satisfied, so he spent money on flying in top international specialists for consultations. He also s

Isaiah stared straight at Solana. She seemed taller than before, and her cheeks had filled out a little. It seemed like she had been doing just fine without him. That thought brought a pang of bitterness to Isaiah's heart. She was no longer the clingy little girl who used to follow him everywhere. He lifted his hand, wanting to pat her head like he used to, but in the end, he pulled it back. "Sol, I—""Uncle Isaiah, long time no see." Solana stepped forward and greeted him casually, then called out to the man behind him, "Uncle Reuben."Both greetings sounded equally natural, with no distinction between them.Isaiah's excitement instantly died down, but he couldn't give up. Using his illness as an excuse to come here for treatment was his only chance to win her back. He asked, "Sol, I want to talk to you alone. Is that okay?" Solana didn't answer directly but glanced at Reuben behind him. Reuben nodded and took his people to arrange the hospital admission. For a moment, onl

Isaiah, who had been drained and lifeless for months, suddenly came back to life. If Isaiah ever found out the truth about his condition...He didn't dare think that far ahead.Isaiah lay in bed, repeatedly turning a hair clip in his fingers, murmuring Solana's name under his breath. Watching him like that, Reuben's heart was full of worry. After making up his mind, Reuben called Solana abroad. "Hello, Sol. This is Reuben. I have something important to tell you." Solana had just finished a set of experiments and was surprised to receive this call. Before Cedric died, he had instructed the Jeffries family not to tell Solana about his death. Cedric knew they were doomed as a couple and didn't want them to rekindle their old feelings.Solana thought something had happened to Cedric and anxiously pressed for details. When s

Ever since Cedric passed away, Isaiah had practically moved into the company. He rarely returned to Jeffries Manor because every corner of it reminded him of pain and loss. He also didn't dare let himself relax for even a second. The moment he stopped working, the longing would consume him.In just a few short months, Isaiah pushed Jeffries Corporation to new heights. However, it came at the cost of his health.Six months later, he was so haggard that he was unrecognizable. One morning, right after wrapping up an early meeting with the executive team, he collapsed in the conference room. When he woke up again, it was two days later. Isaiah had a very long dream while lying in the hospital bed. In the dream, he saw 18-year-old Solana confessing to him on her graduation day, and he agreed without hesitation. She jumped up happily and spun in circles before falling into his arms. He held her tightly and kissed her passionately. But suddenly, someone appeared before him, forcibly

Solana said, "Go home? Uncle Isaiah, I'll never return to the Jeffries again, but I won't forget the kindness they showed in raising me. When I'm capable someday, I'll definitely repay them." Her words were steady and resolute, and the fire that had just been ignited in Isaiah's heart instantly went cold. She continued, "Uncle Isaiah, if there's nothing serious, I hope you won't bother me anymore. My studies are keeping me busy enough!" After hanging up, she let out a long sigh of relief. She used to think Isaiah was different from other men—calm, decisive, and thoughtful, but now she realized all men were the same. He had once been infatuated with Alyssa. And in the future, he would likely become infatuated with other women as well. She was still so young with unlimited possibilities ahead of her, and she didn't want to be held back by romance. She couldn't understand why her past self had been so foolish, placing all her hopes on one man. She could live an extraordinary life

Isaiah pursued Solana relentlessly, which annoyed her to no end. She thought she had made herself clear and that Isaiah would finally understand. However, he kept saying he wanted to pursue her and would propose to her.The very thing she had once dreamed of countless times had come true when she no longer wanted it. She finally understood that her past love had indeed been a burden for Isaiah, as she was now experiencing that burden herself. She tried to firmly reject him, but he was like a man possessed and wouldn't listen at all.Isaiah worried that he would affect Solana's studies, so he only called her during breakfast, lunch, and dinner times. Every phone call was a sincere plea for forgiveness. "Sol, I know you're still mad at me! You have every right to be angry with me. I did mess up, and now I regret it. "I'm begging for your forgiveness with all my heart. I'll keep asking, every day, until the day you forgive me!" Afraid she wouldn't believe him, he even swore on
