She’s so naive.

But she’s so cute like that.

I wanted to tell her that humans used normal bullets and they did nothing to me. All I had to do was remove the bullet and I would heal in less than ten seconds.

But seeing her anxiety and the clear worry for me on her face tugged at my heartstrings. Somehow, I found myself wanting to be cared for by her. So I kept quiet while I mindlinked my men.

‘Deal with things here. I’m off.’

‘Yes, Alpha.’

They responded in unison and I let Lea think she was helping me to the car when in reality, I was walking just fine. I didn’t put most of my weight on her.

I felt the urge to laugh when she ran out of the car and came with a wheelchair from the hotel but I composed myself. All my life, I had no one to take care of me. Not my elder brothers, or my father. I had learned to hold my pain in, suffering in silence.

Seeing someone’s concern for me for the first time warmed my heart. Even if it was the mate bond making her do that, I still fel
