Chapter 10

I turned around to see her, just as always she was glaring at me.

I was so lost in what just happened. "what are you doing here?" she asked.

I didn't bother to answer her, that's not the question she should be asking now.

"who is that guy?" I asked. "what does he want from you?" I asked and she scoffed.

"How is it your fucking business? I told you this before, never interrupt with my life matters," she said arrogantly.

She was hurting me emotionally. I wanted to be a part of her life, but she wouldn't allow me.

"A man was here and he thought I was you." that got her attention. She dragged me inside her apartment and locked the door.

"How the hell did he find out about this place?" she asked herself. That only made me more curious.

"what? Layla, you have to tell me, who is he?"

"my ex," she said after a moment of silence. Her ex.

And I thought he's a serial killer or something. I sighed. We could bring him down, right? All we had to do was to call the cops.

"If he's disturbing you like this, why don't you tell the cops?" I asked her.

"no, you can never tell the cops," she said more like snapped almost immediately.

Why? Why can't I tell the cops, he is threatening her. Isn't that a crime?

"why? we could bring him down by calling the co-" she cuts me off.

"Why won't you stay out of my life? it's my business with him and I don't see how that concerns you, a total annoying stranger."

Ouch.

But that won't stop me from wanting to help. She is my sister, a lost sister I found again.

"Please, let me he-" she cuts me off again.

"I don't need your pathetic help." she sneered.

"get out." she continued.

"Layla plea-"

"I told you, I don't need your help."

I sighed. Bringing out a pen and paper to write my number. I stretched out my hand to give her the paper but she didn't take it.

I sighed again. And placed the paper on the couch beside me and slowly walked out.

I walked slowly till I reached the roadside. I called a cab which took me back to Xavier's house.

Speaking of Xavier, I got to talk to him, about the house-moving issue.

Third person's pov:

Jack just finished some business project. He was already on his way home.

He couldn't get one person out of his mind. Lily.

He had hired some private investigators to investigate her. Something he should have done almost three years ago.

But he was so jealous and he let that take over him with bitterness. He loved Lily, he had always done.

But he still believed she was a slut.

Soon he arrived home.

And surprisingly one of his private investigators was there. He was holding a white envelope.

He walked to him taking the envelope from him. He opened it to see Lily.

But there wasn't one of her.

His eyes widened at this.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Lily's POV:

I just reached the house. I went in to see Xavier in the living room doing some paperwork

"where were you?" he asked without looking up at me. I wanted to scoff.

He might be my boss, but not my husband. He reminds me a lot of Jack.

"uh... I went for a walk."

"We are leaving the country this evening by 6 pm for a business contract," he said ignoring my answer.

What did he just say? Leaving the country? Oh no.

"l-leaving the country?" I asked, you know, just to make sure if I heard him right.

"yes, and it's already getting late, go on, get ready." He said.

I can't leave the country! Not without Carrie... And Layla, in danger.

"I can't leave Carrie."

"I know, she is coming with us," he said and of course, he didn't look up from the papers.

Layla.

"why? You can't go? I would let you know miss Hayden, you signed a contract and you owe me." he reminded me. Ugh!

If I was at least careful all these wouldn't have been happening. I mentally hit and cuss myself.

I am so stupid! Idiot! Hit hit!

I heard him chuckle Only then I had realised I had said that out. But his laugh was so rich. It was like a good melody to my ears.

What was I thinking?

-----------------------------------------------------------

Right now we're in front of a huge airplane. It was Xavier's private airplane.

I am not surprised.

I looked at my phone screen so many times. Hoping she would call.

I watched as Xavier walked into the private plane. I sighed walking in with him.

Trying to forget my phobia of planes. Immediately I got in. A lady came, and she took sleeping Carrie from my arm.

I looked around nervously, finally settling down in a seat. Glancing and my phone every second.

"Please ma'am, phones are not allowed during a flight."

What? I looked up to see a lady. She wore the same uniform as the rest stewards here.

Oh god, what if Layla called me? What if that man comes back? I had so many what-ifs going on in my mind right now.

I sighed switching off the phone.

Carrie.

Where was Carrie?!

"relax, she is fine." I snapped my head to the right to see Xavier.

When and how did he get there?

"Please, put on your seatbelt." the rest words didn't pass through my brain.

Just then the airplane moved, leaving me terrified.

"mommy" I cried. Okay, if there was any word greater than terrified I would have used it.

But, mommy? Seriously?

I heard him chuckle. That's the second time today and I am loving it.

Loving it?! Did I just say I was loving it?!

"it's okay, we're already up, moving just fine," he said, attempting to calm me down.

I like this Xavier. Unlike the mean Xavier.
