Chapter 9

It felt like the world stopped rotating at that moment. I can't believe it's truly her. But the look on her face proved it. The hatred she has always had for me.

Tears slipped from my eyes, I missed her so much. I hugged her.

She stayed frozen. I sobbed on her shoulders. "Layla," I whispered sobbing.

"where have you been? I thought you were dead. I missed you so much." I said crying.

She pushed me away from her, i fell to the ground. What just happened?

I looked up at her. She smiled bitterly.

"you're such a great actress, you should go apply for it and I'm sure you'd win an Oscar. You've always been the better one, which is all an act, slut." she snarled.

She had always used words that would leave scars on me.

I got up from the floor, i noticed a bruise on her hand.

"does it hurt?" I said taking her hand to look at the bruise, but she yanked it away.

"it's funny how you act as your care, and it doesn't suit you, quit the act!" she snapped.

"I am-" she cuts me off.

"you have always gotten what you wanted. but sis, I won't let you get away with this, You wanted me dead, didn't you. But sorry, not sorry, you didn't get that one, I'm so going to make you miserable."

"Lay-"

"get lost." she sneered before wearing her helmet, getting onto her bike, and driving off, Leaving a crowd of smoke.

I had so many questions to ask her. Who was that guy? And what did he want from her?

Oh god, what if she got herself into trouble. I'm so scared for her. Right now, she and daisy are my only family.

She might hate me, but I love her so much. I saw a paper on the floor, i quickly picked it up. There was an address on it.

Who owns the address? I wish it was Layla's. Or that motherfucker guy, then I wouldn't hesitate to arrest his ass.

I looked around again. This place looks like a deserted place. I had no idea how I got here. But you know what they say, everything happens for a reason.

I'd go to this address tomorrow.

I quickly walked straight back to the office. I took so much time.

I walked slowly to Xavier's office, thinking of an excuse. I would say I was looking for it and I couldn't find it.

I reached his office door, pushing the door open. He was doing some paperwork. His head snapped up, his eyes meeting mine.

"do you know what time it is, miss Hayden?"

"I'm so sorry, I couldn't find what I was looking for, so I went, uh, far away," I said quickly. Too quickly.

"And that's not an excuse. You were gone for 55 mins and 17 seconds. Time is money miss Hayden. You won't be paid for the time you were gone." he said.

Wow. This man does wonder me sometimes. The fact that he was counting the time I was gone was pretty funny. But he doesn't care.

"yes sir," I said and he waved me off. I turned around going back to my office.

My mind lingered back to Layla. How I wish we could mend our relationship and be a happy family.

I have some money now, I could rent an apartment for me, Daisy, and Layla to live in. But she wouldn't even want to be anywhere near me.

And would Xavier allow me to leave his house?

Why was I even thinking about him letting me or not leave his house? He does not own me.

And, I'm already paying off the debt I am owing him by working for him.

Right?

Tomorrow is Saturday, which means no work. I'd go look for that address.

I hope Layla is safe.

The office phone rang. It was, of course, Xavier.

"File 598," he said, rather arrogantly. I sighed as I stood up to find the file.

Xavier confused me a lot. Sometimes he can seem to care about you and sometimes he seems to not give a fudge about you.

I checked the filing cabinet, but it wasn't there. Was he trying to annoy me or what?

I went to the office phone and called him. "I'm sorry sir, but I couldn't find file 598."

"what?"

------------------------------------------------------------

After I had told Xavier about the file, he had come into my office to look for it. The file seems to be important.

Right now I'm lying next to a sleepy Carrie. I couldn't get any sleep last night because I was busy thinking about Layla.

Something tells me she wasn't alright and she was in trouble. I just have that feeling.

Carrie toss on the bed, indicating she was awake.

I smiled at her as she sat up. "good morning!" she said, and I giggled. She giggled too.

"let's go take a bath!" I said to her.

"Hmm," she replied.

I took her to the bathroom where I had brushed her teeth and bathed her and I also did mine.

We ate and played together. "so, what do you want us to do now?"

"let's play with Xavier," she said.

In the time we had stayed here, she and Xavier have grown fond of each other.

I don't think Xavier is in the house right now...

Right now I'm busy searching for that house address, I've been looking for it for almost two hours now.

I had asked Cara to look after Carrie while I was gone.

Like a miracle, I found the place. But the building was huge with many apartments, I had asked people in the apartments where I could find the apartment.

After asking at least 4 people, I found the apartment. I knocked on the door, but nobody answered.

I knocked again, but of course, no one answered.

I touched the doorknob and the door opened. Maybe nobody was in.

"Hello?" I asked. The place was nice. A picture caught my eyes, it was a picture of little me and Layla, with our parents, we looked so happy in it.

This was Layla's apartment. "Layla?" I called. I slowly walked into the apartment.

I looked around, it was so quiet.

Nobody was in here. At least I found out where she lived. That is progress.

I walked out, closing the door behind me.

Just then, someone grabbed me from behind. It was a guy.

He held my mouth so I won't scream. But I tried screaming anyways, it came out as muffles.

"you look cute today, Layla," he said.

The person thinks I am Layla! "I don't what you're up to, but quit it, you always try to act smart, which you're not." he continued.

It was that guy off that day.

"you changed your style or what?" he brought his face to my neck. "hmm, vanilla. I like it. Don't tell me you're doing these for another guy!" he hissed.

"and, don't mess with me," he emphasized.

I didn't understand a bit of what he just said.

"till we meet again," he whispered.

Immediately he released me. I started screaming. No one answered me.

Is that how they do it here?

"what the hell are you doing?" I heard a voice behind me, startling me.

Layla.

Even if he was, you'd play with him? Of course not!
