Chapter 22

It wasn't Layla, she knows the password to the house.

I went closer to the door looking through the peephole. My eyes widened.

Jack.

What was he doing here?! Should I open the door? Should I not open the door?

Ugh! Just hear what he wants to say!

No! Don't open the door! Two different voices screamed in my head.

I slowly opened the door, standing at the edge. "What do you want." I snapped.

I hated seeing his handsome face! Not as handsome as Xavier's though.

Seriously?! Now is not the time to compare!

"Can I come in?"

"No. Whatever you want to say, say it here." I know I was being rude but I can't help it, if I try being nice, then I'd start crying, I wanted him to think I was angry.

I was mad at him though.

"Ah. Okay." He said. I waited for him to continue. Did he know about Xavier and Paisley?

I was sure he knows Paisley.

"It's about Carrie." I tensed. He wanted to talk about Daisy. We can't talk about her outside here like this.

"Come in," I muttered stepping away from the door so he could come in.

He closed the door behind him. "W-what do you want to say....?"

"It's my mom, she wants to see Carrie." Oh. I scratched the back of my head awkwardly.

"Okay, when?"

"Tomorrow." So soon?! I won't have enough time to explain it to her. But what could I do?

"Oh. Okay." My phone buzzed in my hand. I looked at the screen, it was a text message. From an unknown number.

"Hey Lily, I hope I'm not disturbing you, I hope you can come with me shopping tomorrow after all you played a huge part in this upcoming wedding, you could be my bride's maid?"

Okay, I couldn't help the tears that streamed down my eyes after reading this. They were getting married.

So... You don't love him?

And I played a part in it. I had to do it... I wasn't a selfish person, I never was... I dried the tears from my eyes only for more to come out.

"Sorry-"

"Are you okay?" This was ridiculous, what was I doing? "Yes." No. I wasn't okay.

"You're not." He knows. Of course, he knows when I'm not, and besides who would start crying for no reason.

I could tell my face was already red from too much crying. Get a hold of yourself!

I can't.

He walked closer to me, bringing me close to him. We hugged.

This is weird.

I wasn't in my right sense of mind. "It's okay." It wasn't okay. Did he know what I was crying about? When I realized what I was doing, I pushed him away.

"I'm sorry. You can go now."

"Lily-"

"Stop. Just go okay? You can come tomorrow for Daisy." I didn't want him anywhere near me.

He sighed before stepping back, "see you next time." He said. I didn't even want to see his face. I locked the door going to the freezer.

Third Person's POV:

"You think that's gonna work?" Paisley questioned Jack who was almost done consuming a large bottle of wine.

He knew this plan was going to work, it was going to bring him and Lily closer again.

He had kidnapped Layla and Daisy, he could always pretend he would help her find her sister and their daughter.

"Yes." He finally replied to her.

"It's better, Xavier still isn't over her," Paisley said and his jaw clenched, he hated Xavier and hated talking about him.

~

After Xavier had left Lily's house, he was convinced she didn't like him. He had seen her hugging her ex and it seems they were getting back together...?

Lily's POV:

It's been hours since they left and they weren't back still, it was already 4:54 pm. Maybe they got lost in fun and forgot about the time?

Oh god. For some unknown reason, I was restless, what if that guy came? Did he?

It was 4:55 pm now, maybe they would be back soon. I went to the bathroom took a shower, came out, and got dressed in one of my best casual dresses.

Did I sit in the sitting room? Looking at the time it was already 5:17 pm. I have to go look for them.

I darted out of the house, they were going to get ice cream. The place wasn't that far from here, why had they taken so long?

When I finally got there,  I looked around breathlessly. Where were they? Oh god, please let nothing bad happen to them.

Another place they could movie theatre. I quickly rushed there praying and hoping they would be there.

But to my disappointment they weren't, I asked people if they had seen any lady that looks a lot like me with a little girl with her. But no one seems to have seen them.

I looked at my wristwatch, it was already 6:27 pm. I looked everywhere they could be. I can't lose them.

No, I can't, I just can't. Tears rushed out of my eyes at the thought. This can't be happening.

Maybe they've arrived home? I rushed back to the house. "Layla?" I called immediately after after after I after after after reached home, "Carrie?" My voice was shaky but my answer was dead silence.
