Chapter 26

We drove for like 40 mins, we stopped at a huge mansion. I thought we were going to a restaurant or something. He came out and walked passed me. I scowled.

Holding Carrie's hand I trailed behind him. There were men in suits, they stood at the entrance of the house but they separated when I was about to pass. Whoa.

I quickly passed, entering a big building, some people were arranging the hall, maybe they were going to be a party, I guess.

"Yeah, this is her." I saw Xavier talking to a lady, she nodded at me and motioned for me to follow her. I raised an eyebrow confusingly before I followed her.

We reached a room, i walked in with her. Did he bring us here so we could sleep here? Of course not, why would he do that? I sat Carrie on the bed. "I suggest you go take a bath now." She said.

Why? "I'd be right back." She walked out. I slapped my face frustratingly. I moved to the door where the bathroom must be. And there was a bathtub, I'm pretty sure they had kept something inside that water, the smell radiating from it was really good, and it was so inviting.

~

I was done having my bath, coming out I saw the lady earlier, she was giggling... With Carrie. Wait that wasn't the gown Carrie wore earlier. It was so much more expensive, her hair was perfectly packed.

What was Xavier up to?

The lady stood up when she noticed me, I was still in my robe. "Please follow me." She said going to another door in the room. I trailed behind her.

I gasp when I entered, there were so many expensive gowns in there. I guess she was looking for one that would suit me well.

Confirmed. It's a party.

She finally saw one, it was so beautiful and of course expensive. Don't they use something that isn't expensive?

Giving it to me she pointed to another door inside the room for me to go in and change.

There must be a hundred doors in this room. Damn.

I got into the room and changed, I called for her when I couldn't get it down, she came in and helped me arrange the gown and of course, she did make-up for me.

Now I was checking myself out in the mirror. No doubt, I looked beautiful.

What the hell was I doing.

Even the shoe was probably glass. My hair is perfectly styled. Xavier would be surprised. Okay, I think I have gone crazy.

Walking out, I went to Carrie holding her hand. She smiled widely at me. "Both of you look wonderful and Lily you're so beautiful." She said beaming.

"Thank you," I said. She walked out, and I trailed behind her. Where the hell was that Xavier! He didn't tell me about all this and who was he to drag me here!

Immediately after I was out, I saw Xavier, his eyes widened at first but he quickly recovered. He walked toward me ignoring the death glares I was giving him, if the look he would have been six feet under.

"I thought this was a normal dinner! Why are we here?" I hissed.

Rolling his eyes. "You're my assistant so you are to follow me to meetings like this."

"I quitted!"

He narrowed his eyes. "It wasn't accepted." He finally said after some time.

"Would Carrie come with us?"

"Yes." He replied. Isn't that strange? Carrie never came with us for any business gathering, but I'm not going to question that, it's good she would be with me.

"Follow me." He said walking away. I held Carrie's hand and we silently trailed along with him.

We reached a large hall, and there were lots of people in it, I don't see anything like business here, so this is not a business meeting.

I was about to question him again when someone called. "Xavier!" A young lady rushed toward us, she pulled Xavier into a hug. "Been a minute! It's really bad I don't hear from my brother." She glared at him at the last part.

They were siblings, so this is a family gathering.

Assistants don't come for family meetings, do they?

"And who is this goddess here,  she is the one?" She said to Xavier and motioned at me.

I almost choke on my breath when she asked, she is the one?

"No."

"Yes." We said at the same time. I turned my face to Xavier who was raising an eyebrow at me.

"I never knew this day would come, the day my little brother would bring a lady home and she is a beautiful goddess!" She said hugging me, tightly.

I was going to say it's not what she thought but she said something. "I know Xavier can be a mean head sometimes but you shouldn't be bothered with that, he has always been a psycho meanie since birth." I could tell she was trying to get a reaction from Xavier.

"Oh. Who is this cutie?" She asked, finally noticing Carrie. "She is my child." I replied her mouth went into an 'o' shape. She smiled again, she bent down to Carrie's level. "What is your name, cutie?"

"Carrie." She replied. "Oh Carrie, your name is just as pretty as you, do you want to play with me?" She asked and Carrie nodded giggling.

Xavier suddenly looked annoyed, "we have some persons to meet." He snapped.

"You're not going to meet my husband? This the first time you'd be seeing him in two years." She practically whined.

"I will after I've seen dad and mom."

He wanted me to meet his parents?! I have seen his mom before but I haven't seen his dad.

"Okay, I'd be waiting and we never introduced. We would when we meet again. Bye." She waved and walked off. I turned to Xavier

"I'm going to see your parents?!"

"Yes."

"Why? It doesn't make any sense." I said.

"You don't know why?" He asked raising an eyebrow.

"No." Truth be told, I was scared of his answer.

Her eyes left mine for a brief minute before returning. "Because I love you." Damn. He didn't even say like, he said love!

"And I know you love me too."

As much as I wanted to argue... It was true. I love him.
