5. The Departure

It started to rain heavily just when Melainy reached Vincent’s home. After signing the contract, Melainy stood up and looked out from the french windows of Vincent’s apartment. It’s on the 22nd floor between Tanjong Pagar and Outram Park, facing the red clay tiled roofs of the heritage shophouses.

“When do you want to do the registration?”

“When are you going to graduate? I guess we can do it after your graduation.”

“In three month’s time.Yes, registration after graduation sounds like a good idea.”

“Before that…we should act as a couple in love…” Vincent hesitated for a second, but continued, “Would you like to move in?”

Melainy gave it a thought and nodded slightly. She doesn’t have much experience with love relationships. From the books she’s read or the TV dramas she’s watched, she guessed that co-living with the “boyfriend/fiance” is natural evidence to show that a couple is in love.

So she would finally move away from Grandma Pay’s room. When Grandma Pay insisted that her youn
