CHAPTER 23: IN DENIAL
Chris wore the apron provided by their classmates. “Are we really sure about this?” He asked Kurt who’s having a hard time tying his own apron.
“We’re serving coffee, not saving the world. Calm down, Chris.” Kurt answered but still struggling to tie the apron, “Why is this so hard?” Chris sighed and went at Kurt’s back to help him.
“You can’t even tie this,” Chris said as he ties the apron within seconds.
“Hehe, thanks.” Kurt is smiling happily. He didn’t expect Chris to help him.
“Okay lovely couple, we’re going to open the booth in 5 minutes.” Both are flustered after hearing their classmate’s statement.

Chris felt his knees giving out. Blood pools on the ground and Paul’s dead body is at the middle. Chris woke up early to clean the house. He first targeted the living room which is already garnering dust from being unused. He looked around and realized that he’s always been in his room these days. Whenever he would go out he would always head straight out of the house and whenever he comes back he would go straight to his room. It became his routine lately. He would always see his father watching the sports channel in the living room whenever he has the time. Linus yawned beside Joaqin, the demon found all of Joaqin’s recent cases as boring and too simple. “Isn’t there a more exciting case to work on? Chris sighed as he checks his messages. Kurt didn’t reply at all and it’s bugging him. He messaged him again even though they will see each other in school. “Hey, is there something wrong?” he typed but immediately thought that it was too weird. “Kurt, how are you? Is everything alright?” He’s about to delete the message again but a hand appeared and hit the send button. Chris froze while the demon laughed manically beside him. “I’m just helping you with your love life. You can’t find a demon like me anywhere else.” Chris just sighed. He doesn’t have the energy to argue with the demon. He waited for a few minutes but Kurt isn’t reply, or reading his messages. He hurriedly went out of the house after realizing that he will miss the bus if he wouldn’t hurry. He ran towards the bus stop and luckily arrived on time.
