Chapter 37

When the first whip landed on her back, all Elaina's mental and physical preparation fell flat. There was absolutely no amount of preparation that could ever prepare her for the pain.

Her body trembled, unable to absorb the entire shock from the whip on her skin. The spikes were already creating tears and some dug deeper into her flesh, drawing blood.

She didn't want to scream so she bit her lip hard till she drew blood. Everything became hazy from there on out because she was barely trying to recover when the second one landed on her back. This time she couldn't control her mouth as she let out a heart wrenching scream.

Her body was shaking uncontrollably, begging for the pain to stop but Elaina refrained from asking the king to stop. She had already made her choice and was ready to see it through even if it killed her.

Her only wish was that the whips came faster so she would be over it soon.
