“...I can prove it to you because I know she won't be coming today. If she does come then you will get your answer but if she doesn't then you know she's cuddled up in the king's arms…”

Xavier's words bothered Drake no matter how much he tried to dismiss it. Especially because he used his special ability and could detect no lies.

And truly, it was the fourth day and still no sign of Elaina. Was she really with the king?

“No, don't let Xavier get into your head, don't let him win” Drake repeatedly to himself as he shook his head.

He had stay strong and continued to hope that she was okay. She had assured him that she wasn't wavering to the king's advances and even left the palace, and he badly wanted to believe her.

He had promised himself that he would never doubt her words, she was and still has good intentions. She was different from the other humans and she cared about him. That was all he needed to trust her completely.
