She busied herself with fastening the seatbelt, keeping her gaze forward. “You didn't have to bring the umbrella. I would've managed.” He glanced at her then back at the road as he pulled out of the curb.

“You would've gotten soaked before the cab even showed up.” He said calmly. She shifted in her seat and muttered, “Still, I don't like… owing you.”

He tightened his knuckles briefly on the steering wheel. “You don't owe me anything, Samantha. Not for this.” Her chest squeezed as her name sounded on his lips. She swallowed hard and looked away. She hated that she had to need his help. She hated her heart and her wolf still yearned for him despite what he did to her.”

The drive was silent and calm but then, Cain broke the silence. “I've thought about this moment… more times than I can count.” She turned her head to him and asked, “What moment?”

He exhaled and responded, “Sitting next to you again. Breathing in your scent, it feels heavenly. Having the chance to say what I should've sai

Cain sat at the long oak table in his private study that night with a glass of whiskey untouched by his side. He was scrolling through maps before him. He couldn't wrap his head around the elders' decision of replacing him. The insult of calling him cursed, unfit for an Alpha. It was not just about him anymore. It was about his blood line, his authority, his entire legacy. He knew he understood power and right now his power was being questioned. His mind kept wondering, ‘They want to strip me off my right to lead. To put another Alpha in my seat. To fall me cursed because I made a mistake of rejecting my fated mate.’ He shook his head and said to himself, “No. I wouldn't let them.” He picked up the silver wolf-head seal and pressed it against the wax of a letter he had written hours earlier. One after the other, he ordered his warriors to dispatch messages to neighboring packs. By morning, invitations to the council of Alphas would already be in the hands of men who understood what

The pack omegas were making breakfast the next morning. Pots clangs, spoons scraped against bowls and the smell of freshly baked bread mixed with simmering stew filled Samanth’s nose. Her stomach growled and she dashed to the kitchen. She heard omegas and deltas move about quickly, chatting as they worked. “She’s cursed,” one of the omegas muttered under her breath, slicing carrots. “Any woman who ties herself to a man who rejected her is cursed.”“Shh!” another hissed, glancing toward the door. “What if she hears?”“She cannot hear us. And even if she does, what can she do? Everyone knows Cain humiliated her years ago. He threw her away. And now she comes back smiling and defending him as if nothing happened?” the first omega scoffed. “I pity her. The elders will never accept her. Neither will the Moon Goddess.”A young delta working at the stove leaned closer, lowering her voice. “You saw the council last night. The way they stared at her? Like she's some outsider dragging him deep

They walked towards the heavy wooden doors of the council hall, carved with the crest of the Blue Moon Pack. His hand tightened on her wrist as he pushed them open. Inside, the elders were already seated around a long table, their silvered hair and tough looks fell on them the moment he entered. There was deaf silence and Elder Malrick, the oldest of the council, rose sharply, narrowing his eyes. “Cain,” he forced a smile. “The Alpha finally returned after his long escapades with his presumed lover,” his gaze swept over Samantha with pure disgust. He tightened his jaw and cleared his throat. “This is Samantha,” he muttered. “My mate. Most of you probably know her before. She's a member of this pack but now she is back.” There were murmurs spreading through the room. Some of the elders exchanged unbelieving glances while others muttered under their breath. Elder Smith, leaned forward and said, “Mate? You mean the one you rejected?” He arched his brow and snickered. “You mean the on

She leaned against the kitchen counter, thinking about what Logan said in her head at least ten times. She glanced at Cain standing in her living room, pacing around. She watched as he walked towards her, holding her hands in his. “Please, I need you there. I can't do this alone. Not without you, Sam.”She shook her head and removed her hand from his. “I can't, Cain… not right now. I need time. I can't do this distance thing again. Not when it hurt so much the last time. I think we need to stop this, all of this. I can't do it.”He felt his breath caught in his throat as he heard those words. He looked away, hiding the disappointment in his face. He didn't argue. He only gave her a single nod. His jaw tightened as if he's holding back words he wanted to say to her. He forced a smile and said, “I will take my leave now,” he walked toward the door and glanced at her one more time before he finally shut the door behind him. He walked out of her apartment and made his way back to the ho

They left the apartment and drove to the cinema. She sat in the passenger seat, sneaking glances at Cain, his sharp jawline, the way he styled his hair that made him irresistibly handsome. She caught a faint smile on his face when he noticed her looking. There were may people arriving at the cinema, groups of friends, couples filling the lobby. She followed him closely, trying not to loose him in the crowd. She glanced around and saw he was drawing curious glances due to his tall, broad physique.“Stay here,” he said, and before she could argue, he strode to the counter. After a few moments, he returned not only with popcorn but also with a bowl of ice cream he carried in the other hand. She blinked. “You bought ice cream?”“Your favorite,” he said and handed it to her. She stared at him then down at the vanilla creamy swirl topped with chocolate chips. “How do you even know this was my favorite?”The corner of his lips curved into a smile and he smiled. “I know everything about you,

She stirred slowly under the sheets and blinked groggily as she stretched her arms above her head. She curled back into the bed and reached to the other side of the bed. The sheets were rumpled and empty. She noticed he's not beside her. The space where he'd been lying still held his lingering scent of cedar and cinnamon. She felt her wolf stirred inside her, howling. Before she knew it, she heard the sound of the key twisting in the lock. The door creaked open and he stepped in. He carried a bag filled with groceries and she arched her brow. “When did you leave?”He smirked, and kicked the door shut behind him. “While you were snoring.” She chuckled and said, “I do not snore!”He tilted his head toward her and murmured, “I could've recorded it. Do you want proof?” She snatched the nearest pillow and tossed it at him. He caught it with one hand and tossed it carefully onto the couch. He smiled and dropped the grocery bag on the kitchen counter. “I was kidding,” he said. “You sleep qu
