Cain's POV

My eyes brimmed with sadness as I spoke. I already knew she was my mate but she doesn't know because she hasn't clocked eighteen. But now I think I will have to tell her everything.

I can't accept her, she is too weak to be my Luna. She's just an abandoned and lonely omega with no power.

I can't accept her as my mate. I need to consider the pack's duty by mating a powerful wolf and making her my Luna. Samantha is not the perfect person for this, I think Mandy is.

She is the daughter of a warrior, she is powerful just like her dad, and she isn't weak like Samantha.

“I am bound by duty to another. My pack's traditions and alliances require me to fulfill a predetermined union. I cannot defy the laws that bind me, no matter how much my heart aches.”

Tears welled up in Samantha's eyes, her voice filled with anguish. “But… but the bond, the connection we share… How can it be so strong if we aren't meant to be together?”

My face contorted with a mix of pain and longing. “The bond is real, Samantha. I can feel it too, burning within me. It's a cruel twist of fate, to be bonded with someone I cannot have. But I must honor the responsibility of the pack, even at the cost of my happiness.”

Unable to beat the weight of her shattered dreams, Samantha stumbled backward, her legs weak and unsteady.

She fought to hold back the flood of tears, her heart torn between the love she felt and the reality that threatened to tear them apart.

With a heavy heart, she turned away, her steps unsteady as she retraced her path through the forest. The world around her blurred, her mind clouded by sorrow and confusion.

How could she reconcile the undeniable bond they shared with the crushing truth of their forbidden love?

Samantha

I felt heavy, I felt weak, I don't think I can survive this. I have to go to the training, Derick and Jane will be here anytime from now. I quickly got out of my bed and got a quick shower. I need to get over this pain.

I brushed my teeth and got dressed also. I put on black tights, a training bra, a blue hoodie and my black Nike sneakers.

I tied my long black hair into a ponytail and went downstairs.

I was very unhappy when I went downstairs, I should have used the backdoor that led to the hallway. Now I have to face this terrible bitch.

Mandy was already in the kitchen giving me a deadly stare like she wanted to kill me.

She faked a smile and walked towards me. “I found out you're Cain's mate, Is that true?” She asked coldly, moving closer to me.

“I… It's true,” I replied nervously. I stepped backward and reached the wall. I was stuck. I don't know what she will do to me.

Mandy was tall, blonde, and seemed perfect. Her hair was always combed and styled in a bun. Her makeup is always lit. But she ruined all that with her bad behavior. she treated me like I'm nobody, she hated me and never wanted to see me anywhere around her.

Alpha and Luna have asked her many times but she gave no tangible reason for her behavior. She just chooses to act that way and bully me the more.

“He can never accept or mark you, you're nobody's mate. You're just an abandoned omega with no one.” She smirked.

My pupils dilated and I gulped when she picked up a small knife from the cabinet. She started walking closer to me with a dark smile on her face.

“You're not powerful, he doesn't want a weak Luna. I will be his chosen mate and I will exile you or kill you instead.” I gulped hard as she raised the knife towards my arm, immediately, the front door opened. Alpha and Luna walked into the kitchen.

Mandy quickly hides the knife behind her and she put on the biggest fake smile on her face. When they averted their gaze from her, she gave me a deadly look which means, she will kill me if I told them anything that just happened.

I bow to Alpha and Luna, they were both smiling and happy.

“How are you doing, girls? Luna asked, walking towards the hallway.”

“We're good, I'm just helping Sam with some work here,” Mandy replied and chuckled. I looked at her and she wore an innocent look, Luna smiled at her before leaving. ‘Why can't they sense she's lying? She never gets in the kitchen or helps the omegas.’ I mumbled in my mind.

The Alpha and Luna were gone, she moved closer to me and whispered, “If you ever tried to tell anyone what happened here, I will make sure you die by my hands that same day,” she threatened, gritting her teeth. She walked away and I signed and reached out for water.

I strolled out of the pack House. I have a training session in an hour with my friends. Janet and Derick, we trained together and hung out sometimes. They don't make me feel lonely, I always have fun being around them. They're wolves but in Dark moon pack. They always come by to train with me because they knew I was always lonely and needed someone to talk to. I needed to wait for them because they'll be the ones to pick me up.

Dark moon pack’s territory is not far from my pack, it's just an hour's drive. Their pack and mine always work together to find out the Rogue's hideout.

I decided to wait for them at the garage but guess who I saw? It is Cain. He was handsome, tall, and even muscular. He had dark brown hair and dark brown eyes. His jaw and his nose were chiseled perfectly, and his lips looked soft. He was hot, no wonder Mandy was drooling over him and wanted to be his Luna.

He couldn't see me because he was concentrating too much on a phone call. Alpha is old and needed to transfer his power to his only son, Cain. The elder's council has been working on that and told them to pick a date for the ceremony.

He will become a great Alpha but Mandy will only ruin him, I don't know why everyone is not seeing that. I know she's a powerful warrior but all she cared about was the Luna title.

My thoughts were interrupted by a loud horn, it was Derick and Janet. I walked towards the car and saw them putting smiles on their faces.

Derick gave me a long stare and finally muttered a word, “Hey, beautiful. You looked stunning as ever.”

He Is handsome, tall, and muscular but not huge like Cain because he is an Alpha while Derick is a beta in his pack. He has green eyes and I loved it. Sometimes, I wish he would be my mate, we would look great together because he loved me so much and he always tells me.

“Thank you, handsome,” I muttered and closed the back door. Derick is 21 years old and hasn't found his mate, he has searched for her in their pack and even my pack but all to no avail. He even had the belief that she was dead and he would love to take a chosen mate. He had talked to me about being his chosen mate but I told him, I would love to wait for my mate. Jane hasn't found her mate also but I hope she does.

“I hope you're doing well.” He asked, looked deep into my eyes, and took my hand in his.

“Of course, I am,” I said with a big smile on my face. I looked at Janet and saw her staring at us with a smile on her face. I smiled at her and gave her a peck, “Morning, Jane.” I always loved calling her that.

She gave me a big hug and said, “Morning sweetheart, how was your shift last night? Did it go well? She asked, looking concerned and I rolled my eyes.

“I don't want to talk about it now, Jane. I will tell you, guys, later.” I replied sadly.

“Sam, it's okay If you don't want to talk about it now. You will be fine, Jane pulled me into a hug.

We arrived at the training ground, our colleagues have been waiting for us. They've already started.

We stepped out of the car and joined them. They were only warming up with some push-ups. There are other wolves from other packs also like blood moon pack, Dark moon pack, and the rest.

The training ended and Derick helped me back in the pack. When I stepped out of the car, Derick knew I wasn't happy all day but I pretended not to show it. He moved closer to me, he was taller than me.

He bent down and looked straight into my soul, ‘I know you're not happy,’ he muttered quietly, but I tried putting a smile on my face. I don't want to discuss what happened yesterday with it. I don't know how he would feel.

I would tell Jane both of them, but now, I need privacy. I want to think about what I would do first. Derick is a good man, I know he loved me and he still does but I don't want any of us to get hurt.

He looked at me and gave me a soft kiss, we both hear a loud growl from behind.

Five years later, the pack house felt alive again. Blankets had been spread across the grass, some near the trees, others around the fire pits. The pack members hang out in groups, warriors sitting near the fire pits, Omegas fussing over tray of food, while elders sat together under the tree. Samantha smiled as she watched the younger ones carry on with their game. They darted in wild circles, singing birdsongs. In the middle of it all was her little boy, Ryan, running across the field with the speed of a child twice his age. She glanced over at Cain and shook her head. “Can you see that? He's going to injure himself.”She sat up straight and said, “Ryan, you'll sprain your ankle if you keep running like that,” she raised her eyebrow as she watched him run even more. “Catch me if you can!” Ryan shouted, his legs pumping furiously as he ran across the grass. She watched as they squealed and gave chase at each other. Cain smiled as he watched then, stumbling and tumbling into the grass

Doctor Maren adjusted his glasses and gestured toward the bed. “Just relax, Luna. Let's check what's wrong,” She eased back and tried to control her breathing. Her hands trembled slightly as she felt Cain’s warm fingers closing around hers. His thumb brushed over her knuckles, trying to calm her.But his eyes never left doctor maren. He clenched his fists as the doctor was about to lay his hands on her stomach. He fought back the urge to fight but he heaved a deep breath, sniffling her faint scent of Jasmine and Lavender.Doctor Maren listened carefully and checked deliberate movements then he finally paused. He lifted his brows slightly and smiled: he looked at Samantha first then Cain, then back to her again. “Luna…” he began softly. She felt his hands tighten on her hand. He demanded immediately, “What is it?” Doctor Maren’s lips curved into a smile and said, “There’s no cause for alarm. In fact… quite the opposite. Congratulations, Alpha. Luna. You’re expecting.”For a brief mome

The next morning, the sun had only just begun to creep across the curtains when she stirred awake. His arms were wrapped around her waist, his breath against her hair. She blinked slowly and pressed a hand against her stomach. She felt different. She shifted and tried to shake off the sensation but it grew more. It was followed by a faint surge of nausea that made her close her eyes again and breathe carefully. She glanced beside her and saw Cain half awake beside her. He turned to her, yawning. “What's wrong? Are you good?” He murmured. She forced a smile, placing a hand on her waist. “I… I feel kinda strange.”His eyes opened at once and he supported himself up on one elbow. “Strange how?” he asked. She hesitated, her cheeks warming under his gaze. “Just… dizzy. I feel… different. And I don't know, I’ve been so tired. My body feels like it's buzzing.”He furrowed his brow immediately and pushed himself upright. He moved closer to her. “Buzzing” his hands covered hers where it rest

Later that night, the pack members began going back to their place. The fire in the pack ground still burned low. Samantha lingered at the edge, her fingers intertwined as she watched Cain move closer to her.Neither of them spoke as they walked the familiar path toward the pack house. She inhaled his scent deeply and smiled. He broke the silence first and said, “You've bewitched them.” She arched her brow, glancing up at him. “Bewitched?” His lips curved into a smile and he nodded. “The way they looked at you tonight… even the elders who once doubted your place. They'd kneel at your feet if you asked for it.”She chuckled and murmured softly, “Good thing I don't ask for it, then. I prefer them at my table, dining together.” He smiled, glaring at her. As they reached the rise overlooking the pack, he stopped. His hand slipped from hers and for a second, he only stared at her. Then he finally spoke, “I used to imagine this, you know. Standing here with my mate. My Luna. But I never b

The sun was sliding low across the horizon when Samantha slipped free of Cain’s hand. The pack had settled after the day’s meal. But she found herself restless after returning back from the kitchen, helping the Omegas. She turned to him and said softly, “I'll be gone a little while,” She arched her brow at him as his gaze searched hers. “To the hospital?” She nodded. “Just to check on them. I… I can't stop thinking about those little ones.” For a moment, he was silent then his jaw loosened and he kissed her temple. “Go. I'll join you later.”***When she stepped into the hospital, she smiled. Instead of hushed cries and restless stirring, the building was peaceful. She watched as the pups were smiling and giggling against their mother’s palm. The first to notice her was a boy no older than six. He stirred awake, rubbed his eyes and smiled. She ruffled his hair softly and whispered softly, “I can see you're feeling better now. Glad to see you.” She turned her gaze back to the room

The next morning, the sun spilled light across the pack house. Samantha woke up, stretching her arms over her head. She glanced beside her and saw Cain is no longer on the bed. She dressed quietly and slipped into the corridors. She could perceive the aroma of baked bread and simmering broth. She opened the kitchen door and entered. She saw the shock on the omega’s eyes and for a second, they dropped their gaze and bowed low. “Luna,” they mumbled. She smiled gently and said, “Good morning to you guys,” One of the Omegas, flour dusting her cheek raised her hands and said nervously, “You— you shouldn't be here, Luna. We will get you whatever you want to have. Luna doesn't come to the kitchens.”Samantha stepped forward, rolling her sleeves. “Well, maybe this Luna does. Is there room for one more pair of hands?” She watched as they glanced at each other curiously. She moved straight to the nearest table where vegetables were piled high, picked up a knife, and began slicing. The women s
