Olga “He travelled to the Eastern border?” I was filled with mild surprise, “Why would he go there?” “He travelled with his Beta and… and the new slave.” My eyes narrowed in on Melody who stood shivering in front of me. “Maisie?” I scoffed, “he travelled with her?” I laughed out loud, my voice ringing with bitterness. “Did she take her son?” I asked. “No,” came the response I longed to hear. Keith“It’s not funny,” I was seated in my study the next day going over some documents with Cassian. But Cassian was not so forgiving when it came to letting go. He had taken every opportunity he could get from yesterday to bring up the fact that I had fainted. “It is,” he said, “and it will continue to be funny for a long time,” he laughed again, “What were you thinking…” “If you laugh again, I’ll frame it as treason,” I said, my face serious. That did not help at all. Cassian doubled over and laughed in my face even harder. “This is funny until it happens to you,” I groaned. “Fine,” He raised his hands in the air, “I’ll stop.” I looked at his face and saw the corners of his lips struggling to stay put. I folded my hands together and said to him,” Fine. Just laugh.” And he did. He was almost rolling on the floor at this point. Keith I watched the nurse shiver in fear on her knees. “Spare my life, Alpha,” she cried, holding her hands together as if in a prayer.“What were you promised?” I asked her. My voice was calm. I found that I was angry but not at her. I knew that she was not the problem. She may have poisoned Maisie, stabbed her with an injection, but she was not the director of this script. Instead of answering my question, the nurse sprawled on the floor and held my leg and continued her plea for my mercy. Olga“What is impossible about that?” Keith asked me, staring intently at my face and waiting for me to answer. I hated that I had lost my calm composed look. I fell on the floor, faking a fainting spell. “Olga?” Keith lightly shook my body on the floor, but I kept up the pretense. This was the only way I could survive. I felt Keith’s strong arms carry me. I was placed in a bed and then abandoned. I heard footsteps walk away from me. I opened my eyes a little bit and I confirmed the worst. Keith and Cassian were walking away from me like I had not just fainted. It appeared that neither of them cared at all what happened to me. But it was too late for me to call off my pretense now.
